CMLL (SUN) 12/11/2011 Arena Coliseo [CMLL, La Catedral, Record]
1) Fantasy & Pequeño Halcón b Mercurio & Pequeño Universo 2000
Tecnicos take 2/3.
2) Inquisidor, Rayo Tapatío I, Rayo Tapatío II b Hombre Bala Jr., Molotov, Super Halcon Jr.
Mask ripping being feuding times. Rudos took 1/3, Rayos fouling Bala & Halcon to take fall 3. Tecnicos challenged for a mask match. Rayos had walked off, but returned to beat up the tecnicos and accept the challenge. No date immediately announced.
3) Diamante, Sagrado, Sangre Azteca b Arkángel de la Muerte, Hooligan, Nitro
Hooligan replaced Virus. Tecnicos took 2/3.
4) Averno, Ephesto, Terrible b Hijo del Fantasma, Máscara Dorada, Triton
Triton replaced Maximo, still can’t get a win. He lost via foul this time, Averno sneaking on in while Ephesto got Fantasma with a shoulderbreaker.
5) Atlantis, Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr. b Blue Panther, Metro, Rush
Panther was almost pulled from the match. A commissioner informed Panther he may be suspended for giving Negro Casas a piledriver on Friday. Panther was allowed to wrestle this match when the fans booed, but there will be a meeting on Tuesday to discuss his status. (Maybe the fans should show up to boo on Tuesday.) No hint where this would leave Friday’s main event. The team challenging for trios titles won, with Metro & Rush having some issues.
Last show at Arena Coliseo of the year. Next show here will be 01/22/2012; five straight Sundays at Arena Mexico until then
News
DTU and Perros del Mal had shows today in addition to the usual IWRG one. Toscano was the surprise wrestler at the Perros del Mal show, which was not much of a surprise after he showed up at the AAA press conference. Sounded like they set up a Perro Aguayo Jr. vs LA Park match for the future. Ciclope won the DTU Alto Rendimiento championship, but no other results from that show.
No CMLL on Teleformula this week. Not sure why. This has happened before, we’ll see if it lasts.
La Catedral has it’s pick for the Novato of the Year. I agree with the top 2 here, though I’d (predictably) move number #3 down a bit.
SuperLuchas #442 has Wagner, Park and Toscano on the cover. In a SuperLuchas interview, Ray Mendoza Jr. says Blue Panther would’ve done better than Alberto del Rio because he knows so many holds and that the fans would return to Arena Mexico if they brought back the Guerreros vs Villanos feud. I hope he is saying these things because he believes this is what people want to hear, and not because he actually believes it. Also, the “A Una Caida” column says IWRG Triton has filed for the copyright for that name; CMLL had done so on October 31st, and a decision is expected on January 9th.
Rob has highlights of late December ’97 and early ’98 AAA and 12/13/10 Puebla.

IWRG WAGNER (SUN) 12/25/2011 Arena Naucalpan
1) Charly Madrid, La Chiva, Miss Gaviota vs Abadon, Blazer, Tigre Lee
2) Ludark Shaitan & Ojo Diabólico Jr. vs Demente Extreme & Sexy Lady

Gringos are the current champions, though with Gringo Loco and not Apolo Estrada
4) Joe Lider vs Último Gladiador, Rey Vikingo, Super Mega, Violento Jack [DTU]
Joe Lider is champion
5) Taboo vs Head Hunter I, Electroshock [IWRG HEAVY, bull terrier]
Taboo is the current champion
6) La Parka Jr. & Octagón vs Chessman & Silver King [MEX TAG]
A show of titles brought back from the dead. Parka & Octagon defend those tag belts every two years off TV, which is always just good enough to keep them, I guess.
Taboo got the belt on the last Wagner/IWRG show to get out of doing anything meaningful. IWRG hasn’t seem much interested in him, so a title change feels likely. Head Hunter I isn’t really around that much either.
Joe Lider was the champion when I wrote that anyone, haven’t checked DTU results.
As noted above, Gringo Loco was part of the trio that actually won the belts. IWRG’s announced he was coming back a couple times without it actually happening, so it makes sense that they’d want to move around without him. It’ll be interesting to see if they can do that without the commissioner getting involved, and it’s confusing they brought it back for a title match with the AAA exoticos (though maybe it’s all a Wagner call.)

Heddi Karaoui is determined to ruin every indy lucha show that takes place in Mexico. I kind of admire his persistence.
who’s Charly Madrid?
Wagner isn’t working his own promotion? That’s almost as bad as Olimpico not working his son’s tribute show.
I now want to see Blue Panther vs John Cena or Kevin Nash. Thanks Ray Mendoza Jr.
In the weird ways of lucha libre, “Wagner Promotions” might mean Silver King’s running the show. I would assume the random guys in the opener are his trainees.
There’s a wrestler called Judas el Traidor? I wonder if his entrance them is Lady Gaga’s Judas?….By the way in that song and Video Lady Gaga chooses Jesus Christ over Judaas in the end. So she resisted the temptation of evil and chose good in the end. One of the many reasons she is good.
I wanna see blue panther take on undertakers streak at wrestlemania this upcoming year
@Daniel: She chose a 2,000 year old dead dude… necrophilia isn’t good, you sick fuck.
I cannot fathom how you can realistically argue that CMLL is being smart here. Are they seriously building a match that takes place this Friday night with the tease that one of the participants will be suspended? If I am “Avergae CMLL Fan”, why would I throw down $ to go to the show when the promotion is teasing that IT WON’T FN HAPPEN!?!
The only way I can even concieve of this working out for CMLL is that if Panther is suspended, and they run the match with a substitute, which is someone returning to CMLL as a giant surprise – and they take Felino’s hair. I think it is more likely that I shit gold.
That’s idiotic as well if the commission of box y Lucha is reallly f*ckin with cmll over the pile driver spot/angle??? With the state of Lucha libre in Mexico you would think the commission wouldn’t make companies like cmll swim against water 5 days before one of the biggest shows of the year. I don’t get it. Panther/felino will be a good match and give people a nice main event, Marco returns, and with all the problems cmll has had lately they can end on a good note if they draw well and put out a classic December show to end the year???? Let’s hope this gets worked out
@Nikita: Your point clearly made over on Cesar’s blog where someone who bought a ticket is now angry the commision may take the match away from them.
I don’t get the logic with this one. CMLL refuses to do dramatic storylines when they might help build a match but suddenly does a storyline when a match doesn’t need one. Not to mention this storyline isn’t going to play out in front of the fans, the CMLL twitter will just post a blurb tomorrow saying Panther is allowed to wrestle. I don’t get the purpose of all this.
I think CMLL thinks sports sections of newspapers will seize upon this story and give the show extra publicity by mentioning the possible suspension. This has not actually been the case at all, but they seem to be of a mindset that’s the sort of world they’re booking for.
Well, here is my prediction… Panther will be severely reprimanded this week by the commission, but the match will go down on Friday as advertised. In the third fall of the match, either A) Felino piledrives Panther for the DQ, or B) Negro Casas piledrives Panther, and Felino gets the pin. Either way, the guy getting shaved saves face… Panther getting shaved in this manner could lead to him seeking revenge against Casas at a later date, or could cause friction w/ Casas & Felino (and save Panther/Casas for the next big show?).
That’s very clever and I could totally see it going down like that. For any CMLL historians out there you may recall back in 1993 they did something like this where Negro Casas seconded Felino for a CMLL Welterweight Title match against Ciclon Ramirez and accidentally got him DQ’ed. The rematch took place two weeks later and Casas again accidentally cost his brother the match by distracting him which led to the mask challenges but Felino demanding no seconds be allowed where he finally got his big win over Ciclon.
The more I read what Nikita wrote the more I can totally see Casas piledriving Panther causing Felino to get DQ’ed and putting more heat on an eventual Panther/Negro hair match.
@Rob:
Just to recap…
– CMLL initially teases an obvious Panther/Casas match, then runs an angle at the contract signing that turns it into Panther/Felino.
– CMLL then teases and builds to a Panther/Shocker vs. Felino/Casas match – teasing it so strongly that Shocker walks out of the company when he finds out that match is in fact not happening.
– CMLL then runs an angle where Panther takes out Casas with a piledriver.
– The week of the show, CMLL starts teasing that the main event of the show might not actually happen, because Panther may be suspended.
Now, lets just speculate that it ends up going down on Friday, it is due to shenanigans, and there isn’t a clean win by either Panther or Felino. One of them gets shaved, but there is interference, a DQ, a piledriver, etc.
This seems like a backwards-ass way to promote a card – especially when the full card wasn’t released until a week or so out. If I were a fan that bought a ticket to this show, and after teasing all this different stuff there is a bullshit finish, I would be pissed, and I would damn sure think twice before tossing down my money again. This is one of those situations where if you kept it simple it would probably work out 1000 times better. Felino has Panther seemingly beat, Rey Buccanero gets involved, and the ref/commission at ringside are distracted by the commotion. Negro Casas in a neck brace sneaks in, Piledriver, and then you have your choice of finishes. All the shit with teasing the tag match and the suspension is minutia that you just don’t need.
@Crpls: Jesus resurected from the dead you ignorant fuck
@Nikita: Just fantasy booking here and I know this idea is a little out of the realm for CMLL but let’s say the commision gives Panther a stern warning tomorrow saying if he does something like that again he’ll get a lengthy suspension. Then on Friday Negro interferes with a tombstone piledriver which causes Felino to get DQ’ed and shaved. The commision can then hand down some sort of ruling saying it’s unsafe for Panther/Negro to be opposite each other since they each take it too far and the commision can forbid them for wrestling each other for a month or two – to give them both a chance to cool down and think about their actions or whatnot. You can even do two months if you want. This way you can keep them apart to keep the feud fresh, re-ignite the feud heading into the big March show AND it justifies the entire commision getting involved deal.
Of course this relies on CMLL actually being able to keep their shit straight and have Panther/Casas not in the same match for at least a month. That’s why as I noted it’s a little out of the usual CMLL format…
Really good ideas you guys. Love it.
