Hector Garza joins Perros, Trauma I wins Gran Cruzada

2) Celestial b Mr. Aguilita [PdM MINI]
3) American Killer, Oriental, Súper Nova b Ek Balam, El Hijo del Medico Asesino, Maldito Jr.
Malidto Jr. had Mini Maldito with him.
4) Súper Nova b Bestia 666EternoGolden MagicTony RiveraDiva Salvaje [PdM LH]
Originally a four way match, but both Super Nova and Diva Salvaje asked to be included. Diva Salvaje was eliminated quickly. Last two left were Super Nova & champ Bestia 666. Both ended up bloody, and Nova won the title with a top rope ‘rana.
5) Damián 666, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Halloween, X-Fly b Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown, Zumbi
Perro Jr. pinned Zumbi. After usual post match challenges, Psycho Circus, Zumbi, and Nosawa all attacked the Perros, with Hector Garza debuting to make the save. Garza is Vice President of Northern Mexico for the Perros.

Still short a match. Maybe they had planned a mixed tag with Nosawa/Io but the other woman didn’t show? This will probably start airing on TV this Thursday. Building looked full, which would be around 1,500.

Perro Aguayo Jr. and Hector Garza talked about more surprises at their Anniversary show, December 11th, though all groups are always talking about more surprises. I believe this will be their third different anniversary show this year. Maybe they’re counting in dog years?

The Gemelos first match here since March. Team Astro took the first via submissions, Team Gemelo got pinfalls in the second, then took out Astro Plata with La Rosa and Astro Rey with a casadora front cracker to win the match.
3) Rolling Boy & Saruman b King Drako & Kortiz
tecnicos took 2/3
4) Trauma I b Oficial AK47, Alan Extreme, Apolo Estrada Jr., Avisman, Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Carta Brava Jr., Centurión, Chico Che, Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Tritón, Dinamic Black, Eragón, Eterno, Oficial Fierro, Freeyser, Golden Magic, El Hijo del Diablo, Hijo de Máscara Año 2000, Imposible, Machín, Halcon 2000, Multifacético, Oficial 911, Pirata Morgan, Oficial Rayan, Oficial Spartan, Trauma II, Zumbi, Bugambilia del Norte, Pirata Morgan [Rey del Ring, #1 Contenders, Gran Cruzada]
Out: Black Terry, Cien Caras Jr., Comando Negro, Mascara Ano 2000, and Pirata Morgan. In: Mascara Ano 2000 Jr., Hijo del Pirata Morgan, Triton, Halcon 2000. This version of the Rey de Reyes, where the winner would get a shot at Pantera for the title, was called “Gran Cruzada” (Great Crusade.) Royal Rumble rules – staggered entrances and over the top eliminations. Notable feuding included Eterno/Bugamabilia, Multifacetico/Oficials, Trauma I/Hijo de Pirata. Eragon and Golden Magic (press slam to the floor in his second match of the day) were both helped to the back. Final two were Hijo de Mascara Ano 2000 and Trauma I, Trauma I bodyscissorsing the Junior Dinamita out for the win.

Other News

Rush says he thrives on all the people hating him. That seems like something a rudo would do. The headline of the article says Rush wants to get a shot at the now vacant CMLL heavyweight title, but they don’t actually quote him saying that; he instead makes hair challenges to Terrible & Texano.

2) Black Metal & Hombre Bala Jr. vs Ángel del Mal & Disturbio

4) La Sombra, Máscara Dorada, Toscano vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Mr. Águila, Psicosis

They’re doing the GDL vs DF cibernetico! When I proposed this idea, I was hoping the home team would have better guys than Metatron, but baby steps.

Looks like they’re setting up something with Mascara Dorada & Dragon Rojo here too. No full results, but Rojo did beat Dorada by pulling his mask last night, and we’ve got the rematch here.

Both this show and the DF show – in Arena Mexico again, surely due to the overwhelming demand for tickets! – are special Día de La Revolución Mexicana shows.

La Parka refused to participate at times, and attacked his partners at other times (even working with LA Park.) Electroshock, who had no problem being a rudo, fouled Tinieblas for the apparent win, but Wagner & Mesias made the save. Tinieblas fouled Electroshock back to get the win.

Lola Gonzalez was honored before the show.

The YouTube link for the tag match is part of an entire  channel of El Hijo del Medico Asesino matches. Who would’ve figured such a thing existed?

Estrellas del Ring talked to the new champ and Chavo Guerrero Jr.

CMLL (SUN) 11/13/2011 Arena Mexico [CMLL, La CatedralRecord]
1) Bengala, Höruz, Robin DQ Camorra, Cholo, Zayco
Results corrected. Tecnicos took 1/3, Cholo & Camorra fouling Horuz on the post for the DQ. Zayco was hurt by a huracarrana in the first fall, landing on his head, and taken straight to the hospital.
2) Dragon Lee, Metálico, Sensei DQ Cancerbero, Nosferatu, Raziel
Same as the first match; a rudo (Nosferatu) was hurt in the first fall, and the tecnicos took 1/3, the last by DQ, Raziel fouling Metalico. These finish usually mean they just tried to wrap it up as quick as possible after the injury. Nosferatu hurt himself on a badly missed plancha.
3) Diamante, Metro, Sangre Azteca b Rey Escorpion, Shigeo Okumura, Yoshihashi
2/3 for the tecnicos.
4) Averno, Mephisto, Volador Jr. b Blue Panther, Héctor Garza, Super Porky
Hector Garza quit the company sometime Friday, appeared at Perros offices on Saturday, still came to Arena Coliseo to wrestle his schedule match, and then traveled to the Perros show to make an appearance there. Garza appears to be treated completely normal here, even picking up a pin on Mephisto in the second fall. 1/3 for the rudos. Volador won with a backcracker on Super Porky. I don’t know how he did that and lived.
5) Rush b Terrible [CMLL LH]
As usual, Dragon Lee was his brother’s second. Terrible’s old ally Averno was his second. Terrible took the first, Rush suffering a knee injury in the process. Rush still managed to take a short second fall. Rush won with the same piledriver move he used versus Yoshihashi.

The whole Hector Garza bit is very peculiar. In what promotion do you quit on Saturday and show up on Sunday? The same promotion where people are listed as working shows weeks after they’ve also quit the promotion. I think there’s some very specific labor or union bit involved that would explain this, but I have no idea what it is. That’s the only thing I can figure – I don’t know why Hector would go back to work this show (does this mean he’ll be in Queretaro on Tuesday?) and I don’t know why CMLL let him on the show, and also didn’t insist he was the one taking the loss. All very weird.

Going to hold off on Perros del Mal results until tomorrow, because I think Estrellas del Ring’s results are light a couple undercard matches (or they only ran four matches.) Still plenty of news. As mentioned above, Hector Garza made an appearance on this show, turning up on the main event to make the save for the Perros after Nosawa, Zumbi and the Psycho Circus were getting the better of them. A four way for the Perros Light Heavyweight championship with champion Bestia 666, Eterno, Tony Rivera and Golden Magic turned into a six way with Diva Salvaje and Super Nova both talking the way in, and Super Nova surprisingly came out champion. (Estrellas has an interview with the bloody new champion.) And, in what was billed as Celestial’s last shot for the minis title, he defeated Mr. Aguilita to become Perros del Mal Minis champion.

In Tijuana, Extasis lost his mask, and the first (and now rudo) Hijo del Rey Misterio got the better of the second Hijo del Rey Misterio in their first encounter.

Other News

CHIKARA doesn’t quite fit in with this blog – though maybe it should – but I do want to say that I watched their iPPV tonight and really enjoyed it. To me, CHIKARA”s greatest skill is their ability to make their biggest matches feel extra important. They’re the best at all the little touches and they come off as sincere doing it. Presentation is a big part of performance.

(and again, I don’t know how any one confuses me and @robviper with these kind of posts.)

Last week’s Ras de Lona (and this weke’s Guerreros del Ring show) announced an lucha olimpico tournament to take place on CMLL cards starting 12/06 (a Tuesday show). The participants will be from Arkangel, Ultimo Guerrero, Ringo Mendoza, Hijo del Gladiador and Satanico’s schools. This is probably something that sounds good when throwing around ideas, but it seems like a rough idea to put on TV. CMLL hardcore fans say they want luchadors who are skilled in olympic/amateur style, but they never seem interested in even general lucha libre mat wrestling, much less unscripted matches where takedowns are the big spots (if this is for real, and who knows.) CMLL will have to get over rules for the matches, not to mention (even more!) random new people being put on TV. And, of course, it’s yet another tournament, CMLL for “we have no ideas.”

CMLL’s very obviously focused on the bodybuilding contest this month. They’re spending some time on it on every single CMLL show. That’s their next big show; they might (might!) start the storyline towards the year end show before then, but I wouldn’t expect anything bigger than these title match shows for the rest of the month.

Porra Fresa argues CMLL losing Hector Garza is not really a big deal, because CMLL hasn’t really been drawing much with him. That’s fair, I don’t expect their attendance to be any more hurt here, but it does re-enforce the impression that CMLL is a minor league promotion that people are leaving to get to a better place.

El Universal has an interesting interview with Horuz. He was a part of CMLL’s Generacion75, and sadly notes how many people in that group have progressed far beyond him. Horuz blames himself, citing personal problems and bad decisions. Those cost him the Hijo del Faraon character; El Faraon took it away from him due his level of performance. Horuz feels like he’s learning from his mistakes and hopes to make the Gran Alternativa tournament someday.

SuperLuchas #438 has Hector Garza back with the Perros del Mal. The Revolucionarios en Acción says “Oficial Rayan” comes from “Saving Private Ryan”, with the usual inventive lucha libre spelling. I’d guess Spartan comes from 300, so we just need to guess which movie is next to figure out the trio partner.

4) Misterioso Jr., Pólvora, Rey Escorpion b Metro, Sangre Azteca, Stuka Jr.

5) Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas DQ Blue Panther, Shocker, Super Porky
Straight fall for Pesta Negra. Panther had Negro beat in the first fall but got DQed for excessive violence. Felino & Negro double armbar beat him in the second. Panther challenged Negro to a hair match afterwards.
6) Dragón Rojo Jr., Último Guerrero, Volador Jr. b Atlantis, Jushin Lyger, La Sombra
Dragon Rojo Jr. pinned Lyger in the third fall, rolling thru a ‘rana for a clean pin, and the two agreed to a title match next week.

Hector Garza

Perros del Mal held a press conference to announce Hector Garza’s reintegration in the group. The Gladiatores has video of Perro and Garza talking about the move. Hector says he gave the title belt back to CMLL and left on good terms. He wanted new opportunities, so he left made the move.

In a radio interview with Roberto Figueroa, Hector says he was unhappy with his recent move to the tecnico side, feeling he was going nowhere. He referred to himself as part of Perros del Mal, and AAA will have to go thru them to bring him in. Roberto also notes CMLL has lost two of it’s last three heavyweight champions. The third is staying because hes’ the booker.

It doesn’t seem like CMLL business is getting better any time soon. Also doesn’t seem like they will be making any big changes on how things are done. Dorada and Garza are probably not the last people to make moves in the near future.

As much as it bored me that Hector was doing the same five spots in every match, every week, he does seem like a pretty influential guy in the CMLL locker room. Terrible and Texano have very obviously molded themselves after Garza (making it weird when ever they faced off, as if was Garza vs a cracked mirror version of Garza.) Hector ripped off the stop sign bit from Alex Koslov, but he was the guy who started wearing a shirt to the ring for the stripping spot, and now half the young tecnicos do the same. There will be a void, not just in the main events but probably behind the scenes.

SuperLuchas has some thoughts about Hector’s move. Have not seen anything from La Catedral yet.

Other News

Ras de Lona had an interview with Sahori. She’s back in CMLL. That’ll fix everything! They made it sound like she would be on Tuesday’s card, but she’s not listed there right now.

AYM Sports changed around their schedule – or maybe just sent the TV people their actual schedule for the first time in a few years. At any rate, the 10:30 am EST listing of Lucha Libre actually had lucha libre on. You didn’t miss anything big; they’ve just shown the top two (women’s) matches from this show, but maybe they’ll air something notable down the line.

Dragon Rojo winning and making a title challenge cost all those guys bookings. Very harsh. (Or they’re clearly putting up fake lineups to make the outcomes seem more ‘real’.)

Hector Garza, CMLL’s Heavyweight Champion, has left CMLL

Last night, Hector Garza wrestled on a CMLL show in Arena Aficion. It will be his last show with the company for the time being. Dr. Landru of the Gladiatores, Enrique Yniesta of Box Y Lucha and Tercera Caida are all reporting Garza has left CMLL effective immediately. Hector will rejoin the Perros del Mal faction he helped start, both in AAA and the Perros promotion itself.  Perros del Mal tapes their TVC Deportes show Sunday, and AAA’s next taping is Monday. Either (or both) of those might be debut days in his new role.

Garza started his major league career in CMLL, but previously spent 1999 to 2004 as a part of AAA and grew as a personality here. Garza rejoined CMLL just as suddenly as he’s leaving, showing up a surprise wrestler in his 2004 return. Perro Jr. was an opponent in that match, but soon after turned rudo to start the Perros del Mal faction, still going to this day. Garza surprisingly didn’t join his friend in leaving CMLL to form the Perros promotion in 2008. It was said then that Perro and Garza were no longer the friends they had been. Perhaps that has changed again, though CMLL’s poor attendance (and resulting poor paydays) probably also have an effect.

Hector Garza is the current CMLL World Heavyweight Champion, having won the title three months ago from Ultimo Guerrero. Despite the title win and a related change to the tecnico side, Garza had no particular momentum or feuds. He was another man in the Anniversario cage match, seemingly just thrown in because he had no mask and was of high enough stature. Garza’s been a constant in the main events, often facing TRT, but with no real focus.

CMLL’s practice of having two dozen championships all valued at about the same level means losing their reigning heavyweight champion does not nearly hurt nearly as much as it would for any other major promotion. It is still vastly embarrassing and as strong a sign you can get about the internal troubles in the company.

Garza’s next scheduled CMLL match was to be Saturday in Oaxaca. Mascarita Dorada, also gone, is still listed on that card. Garza is also on Sunday’s Arena Mexico card; his replacement on the show will probably be CMLL’s first indication that Hector has left the company.

Champion vs champion is a natural storyline to tell, but AAA doesn’t seem greatly set up for it at the moment. Jeff Jarrett and Hector Garza appear to be part of the great La Sociedad alliance, unless Garza’s going to be working the Perros shows as opposition to the main group (which they actually could use.) Garza vs Dr. Wagner might be a better fit for Guerra de Titanes.
