Not a lot of news outside that AAA taping.
No full results from Puebla, but the rudos won the semimain, and Mascara Dorada beat Dragon Rojo in the special singles main event. As you’ll see below, that finish sets up a tag title match next week, Dragon Rojo and Ultimo Guerrero putting the tag team titles on the line versus Mascara Dorada and…Shocker. Mascara Dorada & Atlantis have won CMLL’s tag team tournament two years straight, Atlantis has a few issues with the Guerreros, and Atlantis is not in this match. Probably tells you which way this is going (if you didn’t figure it out by being in Puebla.)
There are rumors other CMLL people are looking to jump. I have no doubt it’s true; people are always looking around for better deals. It’s another thing to actually make those moves. Guys like Hector Garza and Mascarita Dorada have the confident to do so because they’ve made them before and did not lose their place. Not everyone is going to feel that way. I still feel like there will be more people who leave, just because a turnaround doesn’t feel like it’s coming any time soon. Blue Panther vs Negro Casas will be fun and may even spark some interest over a short term if people actually believe they’re going to do that match (a trust CMLL needs to rebuild), but that match seems unlikely to start a long term recovery. I’m not sure there’s any match CMLL can do that alone could turn things around; there are many things headed in the wrong direction that all need to be turned around to fix things, and it’s unclear if the people at the very top have the stomach for it.
I liked El Luchador better this week. I don’t want to spoil it for everyone, but it was very focused this week, with a lot of the previous storylines all but ignored, and tons of CMLL guys making three second cameos. Magnus continues to come off very poorly – both in the task, and the great segment before hand where an arrogant Magnus questioned the press guy about why he wasn’t getting this great opportunity neither of them would specific, while they both just happened to be standing in front of a large picture of Mistico. Subtle! The Bucanero/Sombra final of their cibernetico got the most time of any match they’ve shown so far, and they’ve set up Bucanero vs Fantasma as a big deal. Good Shocker comedy too.
During the show, we do find out Euforia (and family) is a mask/costumer. I couldn’t help think that he really should just make Nosferatu some Cancerbero gear and see if anyone notices. Or maybe he’s the holdout from letting his old friend in the gang? It also puts a whole new spin on the Tuareg vs Cancerbero rivalry – it’s a turf war between Hooligan and Euforia over outfitng the midcard.
Next week’s show looks to be on the Mascara vs Averno match.
Zayco was hurt Sunday off a Robin hurracarrana, Zayco’s head driven into the mat on the move. The medical report says he lost consciousness, but recovered and was checked out a hospital. He’ll be sidelined a week before being re-examined.
Llaves and Candados have a lot of hype on their facebook for Sunday’s #1 contenders battle royal. Of note, the Puerto Rican guy here now using the name Rico Rodriguez is the former Furor, and there’s a Core vs Demencia feud over who’s more extreme.

That semimain tecnico trio is a fantastic collection of the doomed and undesired.
Nothing symbolizes the lack of internal communication in CMLL than one person sending out an article explaining how Zayco will be out of action and another sending out a lineup with Zayco on it. CMLL really needs to improve how they communicate with the public better, but they can’t do that until they start to improve in how they communicate with each other.
Cholo? Probably Cholo.

Lineup via here. All the tecnicos are champions. All the tecnicos are probably going to be champions; only the Solar one might change hands. There’s nothing better to prove how worthless title belts are than to run a show where everyone has one. I like to think LUCHA POP doesn’t have Vaquerita defending her title too because their titles are too classy for this show.
Have no record of anyone using the name “El Lobito” previously, but I suspect the bit here (for however long it lasts) is familiar Plateada opponents using unfamiliar names when they work on tehse shows.
