Texano Jr. reportedly has left CMLL

Earlier Tuesday, TRT won the semimain match, defeating the team of Maximo, Rush and Super Porky. It was the second straight week of wins for the rudos, both weeks by straight falls. It seemed like the start of a renewed focus on the trio, but it appears as though it’s actually their swansong.

Enrique Yniesta, who knows everything, posted on Twitter that Texano Jr. has left CMLL. He later pulled the tweet, saying he wanted to protect his source. (An earlier message, saying one of TRT had quit, is still up.) This is the last CMLL show Texano is listed on at the moment; he’s also part of the Dr. X show, but that’s more of an indy deal.

There is no word where Texano is headed. The presumption is Perros/AAA, but I’m not sure we can safely make that assumption right now. It’s the most logical answer but not the only option.

More on this on Wednesday.

  1. I guess this is one of the names reported to be following Garza. I always wondered if HD Fantasma would leave?

  2. I guess he might have been. I wonder what this means for Terrible and Rey Bucanero. I’m guesting Terrible would leave. As for Bucanero, her could bring Tiger and another luchador with a name that begins with a T. I wonder who else may leave CMLL.

  3. Enrique Yniesta es un chamaquito que no tiene la menor idea de lo que twitea o habla,es solo un mocoso que gusta de llamar la atencion,yo no le creeria nada,ya a escrito otras bobadas antes….

  4. Ham says, “Enrique Yniesta is a little shit who does not know what he is talking about, he’s a little gnat who likes attention, I wouldn’t believe anything he writes, he has written bs before………….

  5. Enrique has rarely been wrong about things and more importantly he doesn’t hide behind fake names. If you’re gonna call him a liar at least identify yourself.

Another person leaving CMLL doesn’t worry me as much as him leaving for what? Perros don’t run many shows. Where has Garza been since he left? Are the Perros making promises that in 2012 they are gonna be running more shows? What if those promises fall through? Who is paying these guys?

There has to be more to the story of why suddenly people are unhappy with CMLL management currently and are willing to leave to find their own bookings. I heard Garza was on 3ra Caida yesterday but of course he took the safe route and didn’t bash CMLL at all.

It’s hard to feel sorry for CMLL when the people associated with the promotion are so hateable. Tomorrow afternoon’s babyoil, tanning cream and steroids show will be a prime example.

  6. Not only is Enrique a good source, but he’s also at the top of the list of the ringside fans who get tope suicida’d at lucha shows. I believe he’s at over 1,000 topes.

I wish he’d work on his selling. He’s bigger than most of the luchadores, but how about a cartoonish flop off a hit from a tope every once in awhile! That would be great.

The thing with CMLL right now is that with low attendance, lower pay, its easier for them to just let guys go and move someone else up who’s willing to work for less. Texano Jr. loss is far bigger than Garza’s since I figured he’d be an ideal new face as perhaps CMLL World Champion or challenger. Garza and Texano Jr. feel like lateral moves. I don’t really see them doing any better than what they were in CMLL. I assume being bored had something to do with them leaving (Garza hinted at it) besides it just being a money issue.

I think Texano Jr. is gonna legit try to collect on Jarrett’s bounty. Just sayin’. ..:)

  7. @Alfredo: You’re probably right! Texano Jr. will actually show up in AAA to collect the bounty and will be a new member of La Sociedad. In another parallel universe, Televisa actually cares about lucha libre.

  9. @Rob: I think part of the reason is that AAA now has six hours of television, and guys figure there are more spots available on top. Plus CMLL gates are way down, so people can take a chance in another promtion because they’re not walking away from good paydays.

  10. @Rob: Oops. I meant 3 hours. Either way, it’s two shows and more time than they have had in some time, so it should mean more spots if anyone is thinking of jumping.

  11. So, if Texano is truly going the indy route, and not AAA, then it seems to me like a powerplay for a better spot in CMLL, or perhaps to start a bidding war between AAA and CMLL. Almost like what happened with Olimpico.

If this were the US, I would say this stuff all smells like a work, but it doesn’t seem like the type of thing that goes on down there, especially in CMLL.

I wonder if this is related to rumors of people unhappy with Guerrero on the booking staff. They seemed to set-up a big push for Texano a few years ago, but did nothing with it. T&T in the G1 last year was a big deal, but wasn’t followed up on, and they didn’t go back this year. Just seems like CMLL is firmly establishing a glass ceiling, and Texano is a guy not able to break thru and is frustrated.

  12. Hector said about the same thing and showed up at the next aaa taping. I would assume the same until the proven otherwise.
