One of the big discussions coming out of yesterday’s CMLL press conference is the identities of Shocker’s new proteges, Triton and Titan. We’re not even quite sure which is which at this point, but people have noticed the guy kneeling in the photo looks like Palacio Negro. That would suggest his partner is Metal Blanco. CMLL’s Gaceta recap of the bit mentions Titan & Triton are from Guadalajara, and Fuego en el Ring, who would know, is pretty sure they’re Palacio and Metal and wonders what this means for their Occidente titles. It would take about one fall to confirm those two, so we should know quickly. As of now, the only show Palacio & Metal are listed on is a SLP show next month. I don’t think there’s really an advantage to changing the names – they’re probably going to be in the same position, and people had a favorable opinion of those guys using their old names.

The IWRG Triton is not very happy about all of this. The Gladiatores interviewed him as part of their Arena Naucalpan radio coverage. Triton said he’d been using the name for five years and has licensed the name in three states, including DF. If that’s true, the lucha commission should be stepping in, though they usually have not in these cases. The IWRG Triton would not be the first one; Pantera used that name in CMLL in 1993,

CMLL has audio of the Shocker/Altantis faction arguing and the Sin Piedad main event signing. Negro Casas says he’ll be in Felino’s corner, with the implication Peste Negra have a scheme in the works

NJPW’s article of the CMLL press conference goes over the list of participants, focusing on the new comers. Rush is described as “handsome guy”. That’s pretty much his gimmick. Misterioso didn’t make the press conference. NJPW doesn’t mention the guys on the Toyko Dome show. They usually like to save that for one big announcement, which won’t be happening until after their December PPV. Tickets go on sale on 12/14.

Kaiser Sports has the challenges between Lyger and Dragon Rojo from yesterday’s press conference. What stuck out to me is just at the bottom of each picture – did CMLL buy a giant Copa to give away for Sunday’s cibernetico? Sure looks like it.

AAA’s announced a new TV taping in Toluca in 12/01. That would air after Guerra de Titanes, but take two place weeks before it. This might mean the Campeche taping has been canceled, since that’d be two lame duck tapings.

Cassandra, the CMLL luchadora who’s turned up on a single Arena Coliseo Guadalajara show so far, is listed as appearing on Ayumi’s show in Japan next Sunday. It’s a lot easier for the women to get their first trip to Japan than the men. It also occurs to me: Ayumi’s show is called Never Give Up, and she talks about facing Amapola and losing but Never Giving Up and challenging again…except now Marcela is the champ. They’ve shifted it so it’s about never giving up trying to win the title, but it sure reads like the plan was for Ayumi vs Amapola. Could be Amapola didn’t want to go to Japan to lose, could be someone in CMLL was fine with Ayumi winning the title but thought one of their own should get to end Amapola’s streak.

Fuerza Guerrera is starting his own indy promotion with the usual names. The SuperLuchas post notes Fuerza thinks all the lucha the TV is a pure clown show, so he will have such non-clowns as Juvi, Emilio Charles, Skayde, Histeria, the other Mosco de la Merced, Los Paysos, Super Muneco and Super Raton. Wait a second…

Black Terry Jr. has been posting the IWRG/DTU cibernetico over the last few days: part five is now up.

Rob has highlights of 11/19/10 CMLL.

Lineups

LUCHA POP (SAT) 11/26/2011 Centro de Espactaculos, Ecatepec
1) Angel del Misterio, Arez, Felina Metalica vs Belial, Big Mama, Tornado
2) Black Mamba, La Vaquerita, Yuki Star vs Keira, Triton, Vanely
3) Zumbi vs ?
4) Lolita vs Diana La Cazadora
5) Trauma I vs Trauma II, Black Terry, Atomic Boy, Judas el Traidor, Bugambilia del Norte, Negro Navarro, Terremoto Negro [tournament]

That’s a one night single elimination tournament; the three previously not announced were Judas, Terremoto, and Bugambilia. It’s a bit of a drop off, but there’s probably going to be some good matches there. MT has an interview with opening wrestler Angel del Misterio, who says he was invited by Black Mamba.

CMLL (SAT) 12/10/2011 Arena Lopez Mateos
***Exodia Benefit Show***
1) Dalis la Caribeña, Lluvia, Marcela vs Amapola, Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sugheit
2) Delta, Metro, Valiente vs El Alebrije, Histeria II, Psicosis
3) Brazo de Oro, Brazo de Plata, Brazo de Platino, Máximo vs Felino, Negro Casas, Puma King, Tiger
4) La Máscara, La Sombra, Máscara Dorada vs Averno, Mephisto, Volador Jr.
5) Atlantis, Rush, Shocker vs Mr. Niebla, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero

Benefit/Homage for Olimpico’s son, who badly broke his leg in early 2010 in an IWRG match, less than a year into his career. It was said soon after Exodia would never be able to wrestle again. He was using a cane for a long time, though I think he was without it the last time we saw him (when Olimpico lost his mask.) Exodia will unmask on this show and officially retire. Pretty good show, better than many an Arena Mexico lineup. Olimpico and his family seem well liked by the rest of CMLL.

As much as CMLL likes to use Atlantis and Bucanero and other top guys in it’s push to get public assistance, they really should pushing guys like Exodia and Nino de Acero to the front. Those are the guys being left behind without help like this.

2011 AAA TV Chart
Mexico: 12/10

This is quite a lineup of matches. It’s also the last show before Guerra de Titanes.

The last time AAA had seven matches on a regular TV taping was March 2010.

The two hour regional AAA show has a lot less commercials per hour than the main Televisa show, and they have to pad a bit to fill it. I think they can fit the first five matches on that show, and the last two on the main show.

It feels like there’s a lot more mixing of the old top crew with various new guys. Psycho Clown, who seemed like the best of the Circus, gets a chance in the main event here. Based off Jack getting the pin on Perro at the last TV taping, they mix here. Fenix is definitely benefiting from Drago and Argos’ injuries, but it’s pretty clear he’s jumped Aerostar on the depth chart. This is the first time Perro’s been third from the top on a card since March.

If you don’t follow TNA, Gunner is an Evil Security Guy who was the lowest run in their main rudo faction, did well in a recent tournament, and has since seemed to disappear off their TV. He doesn’t really matter much in their overall scheme of things. So maybe Mesias can actually get the win this time? Very few in Mexico will be familiar with Gunner, though they do have a couple weeks to run vignettes. (They’re good at that, when it’s not AAA wrestler.) This is the sort of guy you accept to keep a deal going, but not because you actually wanted this guy.

Fifth match is the match between the current tag champs and the past tag champs, but a non-title match.

Super Fly is a tecnico agian, perhaps? If he’s not broken by the weight of the world, that looks to be really fun. Opener too.

Next taping is 12/01 Toluca.
