Averno/Mascara, Garza still around CMLL, Perros, IWRG/DTU

CMLL (TUE) 11/15/2011 Arena Mexico [CMLL, Kaiser Sports, Record]
1) Camaleón & Höruz b Cholo & Ramstein
2) Amapola, Mima Shimoda, Tiffany b Estrellita, Lady Apache, Silueta
Rudas took 2/3. Tiffany and Estrellita are feuding.
3) Ángel Azteca Jr., Diamante, Dragon Lee b Euforia, Hooligan, Loco Max
Hooligan & Loco Max replaced Hijo del Signo & Nosferatu. Tecnicos took 1/3, Diamante with a 450 splash in Loco Max.
4) Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Texano b Sagrado, Sangre Azteca, Stuka Jr.
Rudos took straight falls. Terrible & Texano have “impressive new physiques.”
5) Ángel de Oro, La Máscara, Super Porky b Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
also straight falls, Mascara beating Averno once again. Mascara challenged again for title match. Averno noted the lack of reaction and said that meant all the fans were on his side (Averno is drawing 15K+ ghosts!) but he will prove he is the champion.

CMLL (TUE) 11/15/2011 Arena Queretaro [Ciudad y Poder]
4) Máximo & Rey Escorpion DQ Cancerbero & Raziel
Rey Escorpion replaced Rush and obviously turned on Maximo.
5) Mr. Niebla & Último Guerrero DQ Héctor Garza & Shocker
Rudos took 1/3, Ultimo Guerrero drawing the DQ by tossing his mask to Hector Garza.

This is the last Hector Garza CMLL match scheduled I know of, but the press, who interviewed Hector, referred to it as “one of his last” , not his last. Hector was also wearing a Perro del Mal shirt.

KrisZ’s report below has Mascarita Dorada and Hector working their scheduled dates in Oaxaca too. I can’t imagine these are big money gigs, so I don’t expect they’re forcing CMLL to let them work these shows, but I don’t understand why CMLL would force them to work the shows either, after they’ve already shown up elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Friday’s locals-only show in Quertearo includes hometown boy Rey Cometa in undercard. Getting a warm up match before returning to CMLL?

PDM (TUE) 11/15/2011 Arena Aficion [The Gladiatores]
1) Drastik Boy b Ciclope
2) Maldito Jr. & Samot b Black Mamba & Diva Salvaje
3) Celestial b Mr. Aguilita, Cósmico, Talisman [PdM MINI]
Celestial’s first defense.
4) Peligro & Pesadilla b Tony Rivera & Zumbi
double Spanish fly. Pelgiro & Pesdailla replaced Bestia 666 & Eterno.
5) Súper Nova b Bestia 666 [PdM LH]
first title defense, bloody match again.
6) X-Fly b Violento Jack, Aeroboy [PdM EXTREMO]
X-Fly beat Violento Jack to keep the title.
7) Damián 666, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Halloween b Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown
an exchange of fouls ended with X-Fly fouling Psycho and putting Perro on top for the win.

This was also a TV taping, so they’re now good until the end of the year (or close to it), even before the Anniversary show.

IWRG FIL (TUE) 11/15/2011 Arena Naucalpan [Black Terry Jr. (flickr), The Gladiatores]
1) Galáctico Infernal b Mascarita de Oro, Infierno Kid
No Mini Aerocruzz, so they did a triangle match instead. All guys in this are minis.
2) Flama Infernal & Tonatiuh b Jitsu & Sky Angel
Added match.
3) Halcón 2000, Serpiente Dorada, Súper Black b Blue Monsther, Guerrero 2000, Pacto Negro
How do rookies have Year 2000 gimmicks?
4) Centurión, Rolling Boy, Volaris b Imposible, Matrix Jr., Rambo Jr.
Added match.
5) Alan Extreme, Astro de Plata, Carta Brava Jr., Dinamic Black, Eterno, Golden Magic, Saruman, Tritón b Araña de Plata, Electro Boy, Flamita, Jhonky, Kalibuz, Miedo Extremo, Radical, Slayer [Copa Higher Power] BT Jr.
Flamita was the unnamed DTU participant. Crazy Boy was there with his DTU team, while Oficial 911 and AK-47 were around to provide law and order after Violento Jack interfered in the last match between these two teams. Of course, they all got involved, especially during the final matchup between Carta Brava and Flamita. Eventually, Carta Brava won. Crazy Boy announced a show here on 11/29 (another Tuesday) where the DTU title would be defended against an IWRG luchador.

The poster for the 11/29 DTU show has X-Fly and Joe Lider on it, so they’re on the card as well.

Other News

R de Rudo is highly critical of CMLL for how they’ve handled the Hector Garza departure, pointing out they let Garza work a show but not have him lose the title, haven’t addressed the situation at all, and even still list Garza as champion on their website. Personally, I like the video that includes Dos Caras Jr. & Diana la Cazadora better as dated material.

La Catederal compares CMLL to it’s UWA past the point of no return and believes the lack of seriousness has killed lucha libre by making it look lower class compared to WWE.  (Because there sure was a lot of seriousnes in WWE this week.)

La Comandante does not sound like she had a lot of fun in Japan, at least early. In her first three weeks in REINA, she hurt her knee, head, back and may have broken a nose. “Their fight is very strong, they looked at me in the ring and challenged me with their eyes, and I showed them that I’m better than them.” That’s a promo. Meanwhile, Zeuxis has been counting down the days until she gets to come home on her Twitter. Long term business trips are no fun.

CMLL Gaceta’s preview of Sunday’s card slips in Bobby Zavala will take Zayco’s spot.

On his blog, Rob has thoughts about recent news and matches. Over on YouTube, Rob has highlights of AAA 10/99, AAA 11/99, 07/13/07 CMLL, 07/20/07 CMLL, 07/27/07 CMLL (all re-ups), 11/16/10 CMLL and AAA 05/31/11. Plus, learn from Gran Apache.

A rule of thumb: never bet women in wrestling matches, it will never end well for you.

top six stories of the last two weeks

  • Septiembre Negro passed away
  1. Hector Garza, the current CMLL Heavyweight Champion, announced he was leaving CMLL on Friday. Garza went out to appear on Perros del Mal and AAA TV tapings while still working his previously announced CMLL matches without being punished in any obvious way (and even wearing his Perros del Mal shirt on the most recent show.) Garza did not bring the title belt to the other promotions, and CMLL has not even slightly acknowledged this in any way.
  2. CMLL and AAA are back in their main Televisa slot, though still only one hour and only until the next thing Televisa can find to kick them out again (probably the first weekend of December.) AAA is keeping it’s 2 hour locally syndicated show. CMLL kept it’s main matches on Fox Sports, but seems to be going back to usual patterns since.
  3. El Hijo del Santo resumed promoting Todos x el Todos shows in Mexico City, drawing around 1,600 for a show based on older names and focusing on the Santo/Solitario & Angel Blanco show. This show did not draw well, though a Monterrey show with some of this crew and ex-WWE-ers drew 6,000.
  4. Also on that show: Mascarita Dorada, who’s managed to be connected to WWE (tryout) and AAA (appearing on their most recent tapings) and also work out his remaining CMLL matches.
  5. The AAA/FULL/Tinieblas show took place at Palacio de los Deportes. No attendance estimate, but the show was (predictably) built around the father and son – Scorpio Jr. won the new FULL title, only to be immediately challenged by one of them, and Tinieblas Jr. beat Electroshock in the main event.
  6. Guerra de Titanes will be 12/16 in Puebla. AAA will not be in San Luis Potosi today – the taping was canceled 48 hours out.
