recap

a midcard trios match that felt long, and a title match that definitely did not

Dragon rana

Dragon Lee, Sangre Azteca, Valiente vs Shigeo Okumura, Virus, Yoshihashi: good match, including some good work from people I haven’t been so high on of late. Sangre Azteca worked fine as a técnico here and Yoshihashi had some good moments. He may actually be getting better, as impossible as that seems. Dragon Lee’s move was quite insane.

the end

Amapola vs Marcela for the CMLL World Women’s Championship: the title switch is the worst match, that’s unfortunate. The match was edited to a much shorter length the the previous ones (and the previous match), but the two were not as in sync as they had been in those previous matches. Plus, the finish was the second title change in weeks where the finish looked wrong. Maybe I’m seeing something that’s not there, but Marcela seemed like the least happy person ever to win a title. Amapola finally losing after just one Michinoku Driver seems anti-climatic, but I’m not sure if Amapola was meant to kick out sooner (so the match would keep going) or not kick out all. You don’t kick the person (twice!) after the match because you’re happy with what they did.
