Other News

Yesterday was the 18th anniversary of Oro’s passing. MedioTiempo has a good article about his influence. Oro is one of many luchadors who are featured in a small tribute at Arena Mexico right now, as part of Dia de Muertos celebrations.

Tinieblas Jr. says the production of the FULL show at Palacio de los Deportes will will be better than the [WWE]. He goes on to say OCESA will be organizing these level of events every month or two months from here on out, throughout Mexico. Tinieblas also says he’ll be wrestling on 30 shows thru Mexico as part of the – yes, again – Tinieblas Sr. Retirement Tour. This may be the fourth time Tinieblas has talked about their retirement tour happening over the last couple of years, it’s never happened and everything else said in this paragraph is equally suspect. Hope it’s still a good show: Los Tinieblas and Solar have video promos.

LuchaPOP announced half their teams for the Discipulo de Oro tournament (captains indicated with a c)
Team Black Terry: Centurion (c), Dinamic Black, Saurman
Team Sexi Star: Keira (c), Triton, Terremoto Negro
Team Bello Greco: Super Calo Jr. (c), Maiden, Sepultura
Team Rocky Santana: Iron Love (c), Dante, Tormento

There was no Bello Greco team last time they announced teams.

Ojo Diabolico Jr. rips Heddi Karaoui for not showing up for their singles match at the last IWL show. In passing, it’s mentioned that IWL and Karaoui had some sort of fall out.

Rob has video of Fenix being Fenix.

Lucha Libre in Japan

10/26 NJPW: [G1 TAG] Masato Tanaka & Yujiro Takahashi b Strong Man & Tama Tonga (9:35)
Strong Man & Tonga are 1-2 in the five match block.

1) Virgo vs Thunder Boy
2) Metatrón & Robin vs Ángel del Mal & Bobby Zavala
3) Dragon Lee, Starman, Stuka Jr. vs Malefico, Ráfaga, Virus
4) Dark Angel, Goya Kong, Marcela vs Amapola, La Comandante, Princesa Blanca
5) Shocker vs Mr. Niebla

Dia de la Muertos show. I guess Comandante is back? I know she was supposed to have a big singles match in REINA, which is probably the monster heel loss on the way out.

No 11/01 Arena Mexico show, but it’s both a fan appreciation show and one where everyone who shows up costumed will get in for 10 pesos (first 10 rows excluded.)

PdM (SUN) 11/13/2011 Plan Sexenal de Cuernavaca
4) American Killer, Oriental, Súper Nova vs Ek Balam, El Hijo del Medico Asesino, Maldito Jr.
5) Bestia 666 vs Eterno, Golden Magic, Tony Rivera [PdM LH]
6) Damián 666, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Halloween, X-Fly vs Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown, Zumbi

Lineup via KrisZ. Should be a TV taping. That feud will never end on Perros del Mal shows, because they have no other feud to go to.

DTU (SUN) 12/11/2011 Arena Lopez Mateos
***Cuatro Cumpleanos***
1) Onita Santana vs Paranoiko
2) Eterno vs Demoledor [hair]
3) Aeroboy vs Drastik Boy [loser must retire from ultraviolent matches]
4) La Hormiga vs Violento Jack [mask, hair]

Fourth anniversary show with more matches to be added, obviously. They’re also promising a surprise Mexican who’s been a star in Mexico, US and Japan (sounds like Super Crazy) and will start at 6PM so the show doesn’t go late in the night.

  1. OCESA is wasting their time with Tinieblas. OCESA gets suckered into something every few years.

  2. I cannot wait to see how fast some of those guys distance themselves from the OCESA deal when it compeltely bombs. With Santo leading the way of course!

So what happens to a guy like Karaoui? Is there a place looking for terrible fake MMA guys with no charisma? (I’ve set someone up for a great punchline…)
