2011 AAA TV Recap
Mexico: 10/30?

Tickets go on sale this week, so the lineup made the papers. Probably isn’t supposed to get around this early, but there’s nothing that seems like a spoiler here. Perros on the show (though no Damian…), no Psycho Circus, but you could read in both outcomes on that. AAA’s used Jack & Tiger in differnet matches enough times that shouldn’t mean much either.

LA Park could be turning on the rudos at Heroes Inmortales and still be teaming with them here; that’s about normal. He still seems to be matched up against Zorro here. Drago is back on TV (at least in a match) for the first time since the Queretaro taping. On that show, Chessman took Drago out with two straight powerbombs on the hard apron. Drago did get stretchered out, but it wasn’t clear that was meant to be a long term injury angle since people getting sterchered out frequently show up the next week (if not sooner) and there’s been no follow up on it. I’m still not sure if it was meant to be an injury angle, though he was on spot shows in the meantime.

Drago in the main event is a nice bump up for him, but Fenix in the semimain is the real surprise. He’s been great in the first couple of matches, but being great in the first couple of matches usually just keeps you in the first couple of matches for a few years until they hesitantly put you in the tercera when they can remember you exist (where are Laredo Kid and Aerostar, anyway?) Fenix is skipping all that, at least for the moment, by making it to the semimain. This is a big opportunity, but if he’s as good as he’s been in those other matches, it might be the start of something big.

Article lists Lokillo & Maniaco/Trolli as actually in the tercera, but they’re probably just hanging out. This is Decnnis’ first match as a Maniaco, for sure.

Still setting up the Lider/Nicho match in the segunda. No idea on the opener.

Next taping is 10/30 in Pachuca. I wouldn’t expect that lineup to turn up any time soon, but I didn’t expect this one.

10/13 Edit: Minis and women are the missing opener. Top two matches begin to look more like storyline progression than any wrestling action. (Like, Fenix is there to be awesome, but to generate sympathy when his partner turns on him.)

2011 AAA TV Schedule
Mexico: 10/16, 10/23? – though it’s also supposed to be on PPV

The listing on the Heroes Inmortales website omits the tag title match. Probably just an oversight. That tag title match is essentially the not-cruiserweight title match from the last major show, except with Jack instead of Lider and possibly less chairs and thumbtacks (not really, with Abyss there.)

No AAA title match, just everyone without a match (who really matters to AAA) is jammed in to Copa Antonio Pena to be able to say they’re on the show. There are a lot of potentially bad matchups there if they go with the gauntlet match form. It’d be better as a battle royal, but I’m not sure why you’d bother to fly in the TNA guys for a battle royal. I think the original plan was Doug Williams and Brutus Magnus would challenge for the tag titles (and Chessman in Copa Antonio Pena), and since Doug Williams didn’t come in for whatever reason, Magnus is just around. AAA’s probably setting up Jarrett’s Guerra de Titantes challenger in that match.

That second match sure seems like it should be the dark match; it’s got to be the first one cut when this comes to TV. There’s also a lack of suitable lumberjacks on this show; either it’s just going to be the women, or there’s another dark match gone unmentioned here.

Everything else has gotten mentioned previously. Not a lot excites me here, except the possible end for the Perros/Psychos. It’s be absurd if the Perros won at this point – there’s no point in building them up, and they’d probably prefer the payoff – but one never knows. I’m fairly certain there’s been previously times where this match was planned to happen with all the Clowns losing, and times with all the Perros losing. The style of matches, and the repetitiveness of them, has not appealed to me personally, but the feud has worked in raising the profile of the Psycho Circus. They were considered failures for not getting over despite a huge winning streak (though the problem sure seemed to be who they were beating.) No one knows how many matches they’ve supposedly won in a row now, but the act appears to be far more over.

Dr. Wagner Jr, Perro Aguayo Jr., and Konnan Big will attempt to set the record for longest crowd brawl. Octagon will stand nearby. Konnan Big is not just a local drawing card, but a very easy out on a finish. Fans will be so into seeing Sting that it really won’t matter much how the match goes. The show could use a sure fire good match, but it’s got a few matches their fans should be very into.

2011 AAA TV Chart
Mexico: 10/09?

Main event is the first sighting of LA Park and Zorro since a person Park thought was Zorro cost him the AAA title match. We might find out if LA Park has figured out it was actually a Konnan scheme.

Semimain is Decnnis’ first match as a Maniaco. I wonder if he gets a mask and we all have to pretend like he hasn’t been unmasked here for ages. That never gets old. Never mind, it’s still Chessman in the match.

I tend to believe Heroes Inmortales will not be a happy show for Los Perros. If so, maybe they take the titles away from them too because there won’t be much left for them after the big show? Or maybe they win here to better build up the cage match? I’ve figured nothing out.

Semental/Octagon should be fantastic. Actually, Argos/Semental might be Argos’ best shot at a clean looking match here, those two know each other well enough to work well here. Remember that brief time where it looked like they were setting up a Super Fly vs Octagon mask match? That was a very brief time, so long ago.

Nice for Fenix & Dark Dragon that they’re making it on shows even when they’re not doing the high spot opener.

Next show is Heroes Inmortales. Why wait?

09/25 Arena Coliseo Results (Stuka/Arkangel, Niebla/Atlantis, Warrior/tecnico-ness)

CMLL (SUN) 09/25/2011 Arena Coliseo [CMLLLa Catedral]
1) Apocalipsis & Bronco b Robin & Soberano Jr.
Soberano Jr. replaced Trueno, still out of action after his fall in Arena Mexico. Soberano himself was hurt on this finish. Rudos took 1/3.
2) Dragon Lee, Hombre Bala Jr., Super Halcon Jr. b Bobby Zavala, Rayo Tapatío I, Rayo Tapatío II
tecnicos took 1/3
3) Arkángel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Skándalo b Ángel de Plata, Fuego, Stuka Jr.
Rudos took 1/3, the last when Arkangel pinned Stuka with some outside leverage assistance from Skandalo. This is the first time Stuka & Fuego have teamed up in Arena Coliseo since the last time they defended the Coliseo Tag Team championship. May not be a concidence.
4) Dragón Rojo Jr., Misterioso Jr., Virus b Black Warrior, Metro, Toscano
Rudos took 2/3, Dragon Rojo beating Toscano. Black Warrior again was annoyed with his partners at the conclusion of the match.
5) Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas, Último Guerrero b Atlantis, Blue Panther, Rush
Rudos took 1/3. In the new greatest distraction bit ever, Mr. Niebla did his dance and spit in the air, but the spit landed on Tiger Hispano. While he was busy cleaning that off, Niebla pulled Atlantis’ mask and rolled him up for the win. Atlantis wants a singles match, Niebla ran off instead of answering.

(Teleformula was a repeat of last week. Most of the rest of the news tomorrow, AAA TV lineup post in a bit.)
