Leo Riano tweeted that CMLL and AAA’s main shows would be one hour on Saturday’s for the foreseeable future. (Naturally, it’s still listed as 2 hours in the US, and they will not air AAA in the extra hour.) This is not going to help either companies, though I think AAA will end up shedding more meaningful matches (they run more meaningful ones and have less other TV to dump it.)
AAA has 3 TV tapings (Silao, Puebla, and Leon) and at least 4 weeks to fill before Heroes Inmortales airs. Part 2 of Toluca probably won’t air since they showed clips of the early matches in the show closing package, but I’m not quite sure which gets two weeks.
(There probably will be a post tomorrow before TV, but not absolutely sure.)

52MX: bit of an issue, since they have 3 matches to hype and only room for two. My guess is the women’s title match and the Sombra/Volador setup air, since they’ve already shown the minis for three straight weeks.
LATV: Rey Bucanero vs Felino, and Shocker’s unexpected farewell (for 30 days?)
TF: maybe a new episode? Maybe.
—-
CMLL: the Universal Tournament, Block B. And if it’s anything like last week (which it will be), you can safely skip this.
AAA: to be totally accurate, AAA is cut down to 50 minutes this week. That’s not going to go well. Top 2 is standard practice, but the semimian has no angle and some undercard stuff does, so maybe a switch.
FOX: Metro/Sagrado/Valiente vs Euforia/Raziel/Vangelis + Peste Negra vs TRT
C3: build for the Mex Trios match, and UG vs Atlantis in trios.
Mega6: swing match is Astral/Bam Bam vs Pierrothito/Demus to set up the title match next week. Grab bag semifinal/main event.
Puebla: 90 minute show this week, for whoever watches it. Generacion Dorada vs Tanahashi/Niebla/Casas
ACM: main event from last week’s hardcore show?
Perros: not sure if this the 09/10 taping in Mexico State where results never turned up, or if they’ll skip to the Arena Lopez Mateos taping.
IWRG: maybe tonight’s special Friday night show?

No Hector Garza this week. How sad. But at least we have Super Porky.
The 1 hour time slots are always an incidication of when Lucha Libre has completely fallen off the map when it comes to mainstream popularity. We’re now officially back to the days of 2003/2004. Who says the wrestling business isn’t cyclical?
Maybe we can tweet Julio Cesar Rivera or CMLL will even realize this on their own but (in my opinion at least) there is no reason to keep taping the Sunday shows. I’d have the Sombra/Volador show be the last Sunday taping and start trying to draw crowds for those shows by hyping them as shows you can only see live. Then fill 52MX with Friday Arena Mexico matches. The new schedule should be:
Galavision: Lighting + Main.
FSE/52MX: Split the remaining four matches.
C3: Tuesday show.
You can show Sunday highlights on Ras De Lona if you must have that footage be on TV somewhere or even just air the important match whether it be main event of a feud being built on either 52MX or FSE in place of the Friday opener.
At least there are other options available now as compared to 2003 when you’d get clips of the tercera, an edited semi-main and an edited main event as your weekly CMLL TV show. Sometimes not even that much. There was no way to see Sunday or Tuesday shows so that was it for your CMLL viewing. If Henrik is reading this I’m sure he’s nodding in approval.
AAA will be hurt by only 1 hour of TV every week. When they had 1 hour from 2001ish to 2004 it was okay because they had Sin Limite and then the LLL 52MX show to split footage or do alternate tapings. These days there is no chance they will get an alternate outlet and it will greatly impact the midcarders. PdM vs Clowns and the TNA matches may be the only matches we see on AAA TV until the end of the year unless they scale back on tapings in order to split them over two weeks. But that will anger the talent since it will reduce the number of shows. For all we know there could be a Fuerza Aerea vs Militia stip match being set up for Heroes Inmortales but none of the build will ever make television. Don’t even get me started on what this means for the mini’s and undercarders. They may never be seen again.
I hope the new time slot will be just a temporary issue and not a permanent one. Maybe this is because of the NFL and other sports which Televisa prioritizes.
Confirmed :) Fox Sports aired as predicted.
News that probably only affects me, but who knows if anyone else gets the channel. There is now a second Fox Sports LA channel called Fox Sports LA+. They are airing the CMLL Fox Sports show. It aired at 7 am in Peru this week and was the tag team championship show, so I think that means that they are a week behind. It also seems to be airing on Fox Sports LA HD, though the schedules are a bit different, so I’m not sure if it airs at the same time. I wonder if the desire to get HD was why they shifted from the Coliseo shows to Arena Mexico.
The big news from Ras de Lona is Volador explained he carried Sombra to the Mexican Trios titles and carried him to the World Tag Team titles, so the least Sombra could is hand over the NWA Welterweight title. It makes a lot of sense when he puts it like that.
They said Tanahashi wanted to come back for the Universal tournament next year. LIES.
Barely used any of the press conference footage, showing interviews from a restaurant instead to hype up the hair match. Negro did a whole but about how you never know what might happen in a cage match, and they talked about what would happen if it ended up with him and Felino.
Averno did a “Sombra’s a really great star, but look how I’ve done against him and his buddies.” bit that I thought was really good. I wonder if Sombra is the 2011 Universal Champion if he had was the one who had won Averno’s mask.
52MX led off with highlights of the Sombra/Volador six man and post match challenge. minis and women’s title match are being shown proper.
Cecilia said AAA aired the first 3 matches from Toluca. A farewell to the AAA midcarders and undercarders for the time being.
Opener on C3.
@Tim: First time Freesbee has made TV since January. First time for Camorra making DF TV since November.
Good GDL tonight with the mini’s ruling it and Mascara Dorada going all out in front of a small crowd.
Back on the TV situation, Why don’t they just put the Sunday show on LATV ? CMLL really should leave Televisa but I know it will never happen.
ACM has the Joe Lider vs Nicho hardcore match from last week. Love that it starts with a Lider suplex to the floor.
ACM has a sunday show on at 2pm EST or is it a repeat?
@Mojo JoJo: Probably a repeat. It’s not actually shown up on my cable guide for weeks.
Just going off what Multimedios says on their site, is there not a Sunday evening show that’s 2 hrs ?
According to Sky México schedule, there is a Noches de Coliseo show in Multimedios Plus channel from 5 to 7 Central time.
Sunday 5 to 7 pm Central time, that is. Sorry.
TF had top 3 from 08/09 (finally)
I have no problem with one hour. AAA cut 2/3 fall matches going to one fall to fit a one hour format years ago.
If they get 44 minutes(16 for commercials) they can have three matches per episode. It’s just the right amount of time for in ring action and promos.
Either way, AAA needs secondary network with another one hour weekly show because Televisa is a scumbag outfit.
@Rob: I can see AAA taping more 2 episodes in one night which could give midcarders continued exposure. If they tape one episode a week you’re definitely right, it will bury the midcarders.
I think there are alternate television outlets that would air AAA. I just think AAA is too disorganized to make it happen.
