recap

gif doesn't do justice to how hard that German suplex looked on TV

Ayumi, Dalys la Caribeña, Marcela vs La Comandante, Mima Shimoda, Princesa Sugheit: Better than I was thinking, and that’s even with Marcela looking a little off. Ayumi remains good, Dalis pulled of a move I can’t remember her doing, and Comandante did her spots at the right time.

Palacio Negro with a ??? - announcers voted legdrop

Fuego, Metal Blanco, Palacio Negro vs Arkángel de la Muerte, Dr. X, Skándalo: good for the time they got. Dr. X didn’t do anything to distinguish himself here, but the técnicos were as fun as expected. Still have no idea what Palacio was doing.

Tigre Hispano, calm in a DQ crisis

Hijo del Fantasma vs Mr. Águila, La Máscara, Psicosis, Olímpico, Toscano, Metro, Ephesto [NWA LH, ciber, sf]: good match, lot of people working hard Metro looked great in the segment designed for him to look great. Everyone was working hard when they were in. I think Fantasma maybe needs to not use that lariat during singles matches, because it’s not the easiest thing to set up without being a bit silly.

somehow Virus continued after this...

Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Virus for the CMLL World Super Lightweight Championship: Match was nice until the first Cerebrina, and then it turned absolutely nuts for a while. It was really good, but I’m not sure if the finish worked for me – I’m not used tot hat move and it didn’t seem like a huge giant move to end a battle like this. Definitely worth going out of your way to watch. This one felt different than the usual CMLL singles match; it wasn’t an IWRG match, but it was something in between.

...and went on to do this!

  1. Palacio did a moonsault legdrop. He’s been using it as his move lately. Or as 2 Cold Scorpion would say… DA DISS THAT DON’T MISS!

(yes – 2 Cold Scorpio was doing moonsault legdrops almost 20 years ago.)

  2. The knees to the back of Virus was a killer move. I agree with the finish. Really seemed simple which I found interesting given the big spots they did throughout the match and that came out of nowhere.

  3. I liked the Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Virus Championship match very much and unlike some big stars both have had memorable matches during the year and we are just in the middle of it. Hopefully they will continue to surprise us on the bottom half of the year… :)
