Ultimo Guerrero vs Rush, links

CMLL

CMLL (SUN) 06/05/2011 Arena Coliseo [Cesar, CMLL]
1) Enrique Vera Jr. & SenseiBobby Zavala & Ramstein
Sensei replaced the departed Astro Boy. Tecnicos took 2/3.
2) Starman, Tigre Blanco, TruenoBronco, Mortiz, Semental
Tecnicos took 1/3.
3) Ángel Azteca Jr., Ángel de Plata, Rey CometaArkángel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Raziel
Raziel and Loco Max replaced Dr. X and Skandalo. Tecnicos took falls 2/3. Arkangel received medical attention after taking Cometa’s match winning 450 splash. Looks to be more of a stomp in the picture, Cesar says it ended up being knees to the chest.
4) Misterioso Jr., Negro Casas, Volador Jr.Black Warrior, Blue Panther, Sagrado
Negro and Panther stills strongly feuding. Rudos took falls 1/3. Cesar is down on Volador for his ‘lack of training’ – CMLL wrestlers are required to practice multiple times a week, and that implies Volador has decided to pass on the requirement. He’s seemed less motivated here lately, and there are plenty of people will to speculate that he may be heading somewhere else, but nothing concrete.
5) Máximo, Rush, Super PorkyMr. Niebla, Shinsuke Nakamura, Último Guerrero
Tecnicos took 2/3. Rush beat UG with a senton in the third, then challenged him to a heavyweight title shot. UG immediately accepted. This is what happens when they forget to build Fan Appreciation main events.

Ultimo Guerrero vs Rush is interesting match. Rush has been the super rookie of CMLL for the last couple years – much like Shinsuke Nakamura was in NJPW a while back, actually. Ultimo Guerrero is in the programming department and everything he’s touched lately has turned to gold (or small crystal, I guess.) UG is the favorite because status quo is the way CMLL goes, but it’s surprising they’d put either guy in a position where they could have a meaningful loss.

Naucalpan results tomorrow.

Other notes

Caribbean Wrestling Mexico, the unknown promotion presenting at the Lucha Libre Expo, talked to Record about it’s very short history and it’s plans; it’s surprising there isn’t already a group running regularly around Cancun, capitalizing on tourist dollars.

Rob rebooks the upcoming major CMLL cards, and posts Skayde highlights, AAA highlights from 04/06/02 and 10/18/10, and Aero Star taking a bad fall.

LuchaWorld has Best of the Super Juniors highlights including Mascara Dorada, a recap of yesterday’s AAA TV and KrisZ’s nwes update.

SuperLuchas #416 has an interview with Tinieblas.

Luchas 2000 #573 has LA Park & Psycho Clown on the cover, with a tease of an Averno saying he’s got a firm contract and will not be going to WWE. Wonder if that one has a quote from Dr. Karonte Sr.

2011 AAA TV Chart
Projected Air Date (#993 & 994?)
Mexico: 06/19, 06/26
US: 07/03, 07/10

That would mean the earliest TripleMania may air on regular TV is the first week of July in Mexico, and mid July in the US. It will also mean AAA gets a long break between taping; not until early July, perhaps.

I have no idea what’s going on with this trios tournament – we have one semifinal before TripleMania (after previously suggesting there would be no such things), and the other semifinal doesn’t appear to be happening at all. It should be a Bizarros vs Perro match, like the main event, but those are the wrong team members. Unless they did it this afternoon on TV, AAA really hasn’t explained this tournament in any shape or form.

Also, as Dorian patiently explained to me on Twitter, the mystery man he was actually talking about (from CMLL, winning guess gets press conference access, not Argos) is the mystery man on THIS taping. Luchas 2000 lists that match as a fourway, SuperLuchas has it as a tag match, we’ll go with SuperLuchas. That spot is way too down on the card for a big name to be jumping; teaming with Elegido does not seem a better spot for even a Fantasma, but we’ll see.

These questions should get answers really soon. The TripleMania press conference is Tuesday, so matches should be announced and/or clarified.

Match 1 should be good. Match 4 should be good, though it’s weird to see Dark Dragon and Sugi without their usual opposition. By the way, I’m thinking this might not be Astro Boy switching to a new Argos name; if I’m reading the results right, there was an Argos hanging around CMLL openers for a few weeks right before this Astro Boy debuted.

News post is surely running late, since I’m going to start it now.

06/04 AAA TV Results (Neza)

AAA TV (SAT) 06/04/2011 Arena Neza [Estrellas del RingMi Lucha Libre (2)Mi Lucha Libre (3)Mi Lucha Libre (4)Mi Lucha Libre (5)Mi Lucha Libre (6)MT (2-5)MT (6)The Gladiatores (2-6)]
1) Carta Brava Jr., Hermano Muerte III, Mike SeguraHermano Muerte II, Neza Kid, Okawa
Hermano Muerte III got in a foul on Hermano Muerte II to take the win.
2) Dark Dragon, Tigre Cota, Tito SantanaArgenis, Atomic Boy, Fenix
Dark Dragon pinned Atomic Boy.
3) Aerostar, Argos, Laredo KidDecnnis, Súper Fly, X-Fly
Argos, the former Astro Boy, had a white outfit that matched Aerostar. He pinned Super Fly via Canadian Destroyer. Decnnis and Super Fly did not get along, Decnnis declaring this loss should make him loser.
4) Chessman, Silver King, Último GladiadorElectroshock, Joe Lider, Nicho el Millionario
Tecnicos were all bloody and beat; Electro bled a dangerous amount. UG gave Nicho a piledriver onto two chairs to get the win. Guapito was out again watching this match, but this time helping the rudos.
5) Drago, La Parka, OzzBilly el Malo, Charly Manson, Escoria
Drago got the pin on Billy. Cibernetico ran in after the match and attacked the tecnicos, but Drago misted him. Charly spinebusters Dragon in revenge. More tecnicos ran in for the save. The Roldans used this declare that, at TripleMania any people not in a match who interfered in them will be fired.
6) Dr. Wagner Jr., El Mesías, Extreme TigerDamián 666, Halloween, LA Park
Milicia ran in late, but the AAA wrestlers followed them to run them off. Tiger 450 splash on Halloween for the win.

Projected Air Date (#993) – note the ‘opener’ will not air, so this is one taping.

Arena Neza looked good and full. If this was not a sellout, I’d be shocked.

Next taping is the next post.
