Forjando un Idolo final set, TRT lose, Peste Negra win

CMLL (FRI) 05/20/2011 Arena Mexico [Record (1-2, 5-7)Record (3-4)]
1) Bronco & InquisidorBengala & Robin
In the third, Inquisidor got Robin with the Storm Cradle Driver, and Bronco submitted Bengala.
2) Dark Angel, Lluvia, MarcelaAmapola, Estrellita, Tiffany
Marcela top rope double stomped Tiffany, then submitted her. Dark Angel submitted Estrellita. You don’t want to be an Invasor in CMLL.
3) PólvoraDelta [Forjando un Idolo, semifinal]
Polvora goes onto the final in about 9 minutes. The Panther student used his counter dropkick and a nudo lagunero for the win.
4) Ángel de OroFuego [Forjando un Idolo, semifinal]
Angel de Oro won in about 7 minutes. Fuego tried to put on his figure four, but Angel de Oro small packaged him for teh pin. Panther and Ultimo Guerrero skrimished after he match.
5) Metro, Valiente, Super PorkyTerrible, Texano, Rey Bucanero
In the first, Bucanero pinned Super Porky, but Terrible and Texano beat up Monito and Tiger Hispano ruled it a DQ. (That goes counter to every other time they’ve beat up Monito.) TRT easily beat the tecnicos in the second fall. Tecnicos rallied in the third, Valiente diving on Bucanero and Metro on Texano, leaving Porky to roll up Terrible to win. TRT’s first loss as a trio comes to Brazo de Plata (though they lost as a trio just before they got the name.)
6) Averno DQ La Máscara
Straight falls for Averno in a mask ripping match. Averno got the pin in the first, then forced La Mascara into fouling the referee (Tirantes) in a convoluted spot for the DQ. La Mascara challenged Averno for a mask match, Averno said NO.
7) Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro CasasLa Sombra, Máscara Dorada, Rush
Mr. Niebla did appear. Rudos took falls 1/3 for the win, all clean, working too well as a team to be beat.

The idea behind Polvora being in the final, I’d guess, is next week’s Angel de Oro vs Polvora Forjando un Idolo final match is not the last time we’ll see those two match up. this may be a feud going forward  with eventual plans of an apuesta final. That’d require Angel de Oro facing a rudo in the final. Hijo del Signo, Rey Escorpion, Puma King, and Polvora were the only four rudos in the tournament, Escorpion is unmasked, and it’s much too early on for Signo & Puma to lose their masks. that leaves Polvora. Though, at CMLL speed, such a match would take a couple years to get to.

Prior to the Averno vs La Mascara, Averno noted he’d already turned back the challenge of Mascara Dorada and La Mascara isn’t worthy of a title chance. Averno says La Mascara doesn’t want a mask match, because Averno would win and La Mascara would be forced to get plastic surgery to fix his hideous face if it was exposed. It’d be neat if the idea here was Averno beating each of Generacion Dorada one by one until the last guy (Sombra?) stopped him, but I don’t have quite that much faith.

  1. CMLL TV starts with the lucha de regalo from last Friday (w/ Palacio, Metal Blanco, etc.)

  2. Warning for the Gala viewers who dare to watch live tomorrow: CMLL just did a 7 minute commercial break, aired a second fall that went all of 50 seconds and just started another 7 minute commercial break.

  3. Two Forjando matches up now obviously and main event looks to be the main event from the same night.

  4. Which means unless someone is actually paying attention – the setup for La Mascara vs Averno will set up their singles match on FOX SPORTS next week.

  5. @Rob Even I could notice the sloppiness :(

Fox Sports had: Ángel de Plata, Angel Azteca Jr, Pegasso vs Arkángel, Loco Max, Skándalo. Also: Brazo de Plata, Máximo, Toscano vs Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero, Terrible.

  6. Wow DUDE your Lucha Times were completely wrong. I might have to join the Araknas revolution.

  7. C3 WMP feed is down but the real player feed is working.

Dragoncito/Pierrothcito has been fun so far.

  8. Dragoncito/Pierrothito was exactly how all Lightning Matches should be. Both got their moves in, their dives in, some nice nearfalls and a good finish.

Meanwhile on C3 Astral just tore shit up.

  9. So Aereo is going with the masked look this time? But he’s dropped the Aero Star mask. And he’s toothless! He looked good for his short run though.

  10. Violencia kinda looks like Art Barr’s old character Beetlejuice now. But yeah Rob’s right, both mini’s matches have been good.

  11. Second match was really godo too!

It’s crazy how better this show is than their show seen by way more people. You would think a company would want to present their best effort to the larger audience. Not CMLL! Faxes, telegrams and Atari 4 LIFE!

  12. Ras de Lona points of emphasis
    – interview with Negro Casas about reaching 31 years of wrestling (w/Panther and Negro interviews pushing a hair/hair match)
    – Forjando un Idolo
    – Zacarias, sad about being dumped by Bucanero, teaches us a new Zacarias dance.

For the first time I can recall, Ras de Lona promoted next week’s Sunday show.

    4) Black Warrior, Metro, Valiente vs Mephisto, Vangelis, Euforia
    5) Strongman, Blue Panther, Brazo de Plata vs Nakamura, Alebrije, Psicosis

The NJPW guys have to be put in with heavyweights, only the CMLL heavyweights are not so much guys they belong in with.

  13. 52MX has

    05/15
    4) Black Warrior, Blue Panther, Sangre Azteca b Misterioso II, Pólvora, Shigeo Okumura
    5) Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas b Héctor Garza, Mr. Águila, Psicosis

  14. Those matches + the LATV show being replaced by C3 (only like 3 months late!) means whatever LATV they did last week was just a one off, and now they’re suddenly taping the fewest matches on Sunday since this big TV expansion started. Also kind of sad, because the way they were careful to avoid mentioning which network they were on seemed to indicate it was an international/multi-network tape, which meant it might be airing elsewhere in Latin America, but even possibly could be sent to our friends in the UK and Canada who haven’t gotten new CMLL footage in a long time. No such luck!

I say this, and like the Teleformula show will suddenly end up being Sunday taping next week. Just wait.

  15. 05/15 ACM
    5) Estrella de Oriente, Sangre Chicana, Sombra Chicana b Gavilan Negro, Guerrero Negro, Maldito.

  16. Estrella de Oriente might have hit a DOTYC in the third Caida. That looked cleaner than Dorada’s version.

  17. But now we’ll never know how the Gen 11 vs Rayos Tapatios feud ends!

Wonder if this means CMLL has a new TV outlet for the Sunday undercard we just haven’t discovered yet. Or perhaps those will be the ‘mralexiscmll’ youtube special!

  18. @Rob: Only with CMLL would the possibility of them having a new TV deal and not telling anyone about it seem likely.
