CMLL (FRI) 04/15/2011 Arena Mexico [Estrellas del Ring, Record (1-2, 5-6), MT]
1) Molotov & Sensei b Apocalipsis & Mortiz
2) Diamante, Fuego, Sagrado b Hooligan, Loco Max, Raziel
Hooligan pinned Fuego and took out Diamante with a dive, but Sagrado submitted Raziel for the win.
3) Guerrero Maya Jr. b Metal Blanco [Forjando un Idolo]
Metal Blanco went for the top rope 450 splash, landed on his feet, and fell forward into Maya’s knees. Maya beat him with a devastating cradle DDT. Guerrero Maya starts off with 3 points, Gran Alternativa finalist Metal Blanco has zero. As customary, Shocker (in a suit) was at ringside for both matches.
4) Delta b Dragon Lee [Forjando un Idolo]
Delta press slammed Dragon Lee, then added a top rope moonsault for the win. Delta wins to take the 3 points. Dragon Lee, 0, looked nervous.
5) La Sombra, Rush, Strong Man b Mr. Águila, Olímpico, Rey Bucanero
Sombra did the backflip into the moonsault on Aguila for the win. Tirantes was referee, but could not slow count the tecnicos enough to prevent them from winning.
6) Héctor Garza, Hirooki Goto, Volador Jr. b Atlantis, Dragón Rojo Jr., Último Guerrero
Atlantis & Ultimo Guerrero had Garza & Volador in the Atlantidas, but Goto fouled Ultimo Guerrero and pinned him, and Garza used Atlantis’ distraction to defeat him as well.
A lot of emphasis put on Goto beating Ultimo.
Escorpion vs Angel de Oro is up.
Ras de Lona included Strong Man challenging “the Champion! And you know you are!” Not sure Strong Man knows. Recaps and interviews with all the Forjando un Idolo participants and mentors (Negro Casas wearing his NJPW shirt), plus the women going to Japan. Silueta got extra attention since she’s never been on this show before. She said her mom was a lucahdora, though I didn’t catch her name. Escorpion and Ultimo Guerrero talked about winning the Gran Alternativa and what it meant to Escorpion. Escorpion was a little broken up by it.
Mi Lucha Libre speculates that Relampago might be the surprise in Pachuca tomorrow. Naaaah.
CMLL in NJPW: Mascara Dorada’s team won their opening tag match: Dorada/Tama Tonga (O) b Jushin Liger/King Fale (X)

Next Friday’s matches are indeed Cometa/Escorpion and Palacio/Angel De Oro. Also an amazing looking opener with Astral/Electrico vs Demus/Pierrothito. Praying that finds it’s way onto LATV!
For whatever this is worth – Rey Cometa leads the online fan voting.
Figuring on
– Escorpion beating Rey Cometa to start his redemption story
– Angel de Oro defeating Palacio Negro to take control of the group and clinch advancing
– Escorpion beating Palacio Negro in a virtual playoff
– maybe Cometa getting a tie or even win over Angel de Oro since it won’t matter for Oro
CMLL TV is top 3 from 4/8.
@thecubsfan: OR…
– Escorpion cheats again and gets away with it UNTIL Ultimo Guerrero lets the referee know what happened and Cometa gets the win after the decision is reversed.
– Angel De Oro clinches over Palacio Negro.
Setting up Cometa vs Angel De Oro and Palacio Negro vs Escorpion w/ both Cometa and Palacio needing wins to advance.
(And if they both happen to lose we can use the fan voting to give Cometa the extra point so he advances.:P)
Hopefully this leads to a title shot for Goto.
LATV has 04/08 1 & 2!
@thecubsfan: YAY!
So with an 8 day delay we have 5 matches from the same Arena Mexico show airing on the same day! Awesome.
The AAA show today was a repeat of last week’s show
C3 opens with the Forjando un Idolo matches.
No TV for Super Halcon Jr.!
GDL has Metal Blanco/Metatron vs Puma King/Tiger Kid. So Palacio Negro was NOT in two places at the same time.
ACM has the Ultimo Guerrero title defense.
Hijo del Ninja b Rey Demonio Jr. from 3/27 is also airing.
GDL has
Lluvia, Marcela, Silueta vs Amapola, La Comandante, Mima Shimoda
Diamante & Valiente vs Scorpion & Vangelis
And no main event?
(That was Porky/Maximo vs Texano/Terrible)
AAA has not updated their website except for some dates for spot shows. Dorian very quiet on Twitter. “Algo grande pasara”. I hope they are not selling the company.
@LLL: “Algo grande pasara” is the tease they’ve been running on TV for 3 weeks now to build the surprise that was supposed to take place today which is assumed to be either Gronda’s return or a new Gronda.
Yeah, I saw the videos. I think you pointed out the Gronda face too. I just wonder if that video was some kind of generic video made by some video company that included the Gargoyle looking face along with fire breathing dragons and natural disasters and AAA just ran it.
Either way, it’s uncharacteristic of Dorian to be so quiet and for AAA to not really update the site, except for a few spot shows.
\@LLL: I think they mentioned the website was broken a few weeks back and Cubs questioned the validity of that since the lineups were still being regularly updated. The guy who runs the site is on twitter so you could always just ask him. Maybe he’s in a fight with AAA right now and not updating the site but someone else has access to the lineups.
@Rob: It could be that there’s just a different mechanism for adding the lineups than how the rest of the website works, Many parts of THIS site sure don’t work together and the guy who puts up the articles has a better grip of how to spell the names of AAA luchadors than whoever does the lineups.
However, if there was a technical problem that would restrict me from posting on this site, I know I’d be going insane trying to fix it. I’d do everything I could myself, contact every support person I could think of, and explore every crazy scheme I could think of just to get something up on the page. There’d be some solution within 48 hours; going weeks without fixing it is unfathomable (especially today, when a whole lot of wet people are trying to figure out what they can do with their tickets.)
I know it’s a lot different for a person actually doing this in a company (as opposed to doing this on shoestring and gum) and I’m sure running the website is not that person’s only job in the organization, but I can’t believe it’s gone on this long.
