Metal Blanco & Mascara Dorada advance to GA final

CMLL (FRI) 04/01/2011 Arena Mexico [MedioTiempoRecord (3-9), CMLL, Record (1-2, 10)]
1) Höruz & RobinBronco & Cholo
Horuz had his new mask on. He had a good day. No one else did. Cholo was hurt early and may have turned ligaments in his left knee. Bronco wrestled the last two falls by himself. The third fall lasted under a minute, with them going right to the finish (Robin coming up way short on a top rope splash on Bronco, then grabbing his head.) It is too bad LATV is no longer showing openers.
2) Dr. X, Hooligan, NitroMetálico, Starman, Tigre Blanco
Tuareg took falls 2 and 3.
3) Dragon Lee & Volador Jr.Hombre Bala Jr. & La Máscara [Gran Alternativa, eightfinal]
Dragon Lee did a SSP to the floor and Volador got Mascara about backcracker.
4) Máscara Dorada & Metal BlancoMephisto & Tiger Kid [Gran Alternativa, eightfinal]
Tiger Kid eliminated Puma in the battle royal. Karma paid him back with a loss here, even thought Tirantes was slow counting the rudos.
5) Negro Casas & Puma KingGuerrero Maya Jr. & Máximo [Gran Alternativa, eightfinal]
Double castias by the Casas for the win.
6) Averno & Palacio NegroBlack Warrior & Lestat [Gran Alternativa, eightfinal]
Rudos won. Black Warrior was very displeased and walked out on his partner after the match. Poor Lestat.
7) Máscara Dorada & Metal BlancoDragon Lee & Volador Jr. [Gran Alternativa, quarterfinal]
Mascara Dorada dive plus Metal Blanco hurracrrana.
8) Averno & Palacio NegroNegro Casas & Puma King [Gran Alternativa, quarterfinal]
9) Máscara Dorada & Metal BlancoAverno & Palacio Negro [Gran Alternativa, semifinal]
Palacio Negro & Metal Blanco had hugged before the seeding battle royal, but found themselves on opposite sides in the final. Averno, killer of dreams, lost his mind and unmasking Dorada to cost his team the match and Palacio Negro a chance in the final. Averno challenged for a mask match with Dorada, and I hope he never gets it.
10) Rush, Strong Man, Super PorkyHirooki Goto, Mr. Águila, Olímpico
Straight falls for the tecnicos, Aguila and Olimpico taking the pin. Goto has got to find a better level of criminal to team with. Cancerbros have had a better year than the Invasors.

Lestat wasn’t involved in the Ras de Lona interview everyone segment, and Valiente didn’t get to talk about his title match. We did get a Strong Man promo, and Ultimo Guerrero and Escorpion talked about all their possible challengers when they were standing right behind them. That seemed rude. Sombra was favoring his elbow again in Tuesday’s match.

Apolo Estrada, formerly a CMLL opening match rudo, is back home in Nuevo Laredo.

Matt Cross is not appearing today in Arena Lopez Mateos.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

  1. I’ve been holding out hope for LLUSA’s return to MTV2, but if Impact en Espanol does actually start airing on tr3s, even I will give in that LLUSA likely won’t be returning. If that’s the case, I don’t understand why they aren’t putting stuff up on the web.

  2. @Alan – I would assume they are going to throw the unaided episodes onto a dvd, and try to recoup money that way. Similar to how they put the unaided stuff on the Wrestle Society DVD.

  3. @Nikita: they were at NATPE in January. If MTV3 does not happen, they’ll try to find another net and international syndication, which is usually much more lucrative. Do you think there’s a market for their DVD’s?

  4. @LLL: I do not doubt that they WANT to find a network and international syndication, but I think every indy promotion ever wants that. And wanting to do something and someone wanting to pay you to do something are totally different things.
Do I think there is a market for their DVDs… I really do not know. I mean, how many units of those Big Vision lucha DVDs actually sold? What about the WSX DVDs? Hell, how many of those “Best of…” DVDs from Koch did ROH sell? I would think that is the template Masked Warriors is looking at.

Now, is it something that, after it is on DVD for awhile, may put up big numbers on something like streaming Netflix On-Demand? Maybe.

  5. ACM was 2011-03-20 Arena Coliseo Monterrey 6 of 6: Euforia (CMLL), Nitro, Último Guerrero b Delta, Espartaco, Rush

  6. @Alan: I think Nikita and LLL are referring to selling at a bigger scale like amazon.com and retail stores like Wal-Mart, Target, etc. Not the wrestling web sites.

  7. LATV was a rerun.

    Teleformula has 02/15
    2) Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II vs Mr. Trueno & Rey Trueno – YES
    3) Mima Shimoda, Princesa Blanca, Tiffany vs Lluvia, Luna Mágica, Marcela
    4) Hijo del Fantasma & Toscano vs Mr. Águila & Olímpico
    NOT Maximo vs Rey Bucanero.

  8. Seems like Galavision will have
    Dos Leyendas
Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas vs La Sombra, Rush, Toscano
Averno vs Máscara Dorada [NWA MIDDLE]
Terrible & Texano vs Máximo & Super Porky [hair]

Renegados is a much better name than Doble T.

  9. @Alfredo: You are right, but that does beg a question: ROH has always been pretty secretive about their numbers, as far as sales for their DVDs thru their website. Most companies, like RF and SmartMark are pretty quiet about numbers as well. However, I bet there are some kind of certifiable numbers out there for units sold on the Big Vision Lucha DVDs, WSX, and the ROH stuff thru Koch, that was released thru retailers. I wonder what kind of numbers those are…

  10. @Chris:

Yeah that match was fun as hell. I’m surprised RFC asked Ultimo about WWE though. And Rush was a total prick taking RFC’s mic away from him. That guy is going to be a good rudo.

This CMLL show wastes more time than TNA. 1 match in a hour?

  11. I actually won a free autographed set of the LLUSA figures, I’m just waiting for them to arrive.
