CMLL (MON) 03/28/2011 Arena Puebla [Cinco Radio, Fuego en el Ring]
1) Tigre Rojo & Tigre Rojo Jr. b Black Tiger & Black Tiger Jr.
Best match of the night. Rojos worked as rudos, and Tiger Rojo Sr. stole Black Tiger Sr.’s mask to set up the pin. Rematches were demanded; this local feud might actually continue.
2) Hombre Bala Jr., Lestat, Magnus b Bobby Zavala, Hijo del Signo, Karisma
3) Euforia, Pólvora, Virus b Ángel de Plata, Fuego, Pegasso
Pegasso hurt his knee again. Not a good sign.
4) Akron, Blue Panther, Máximo b Felino, Sauron, Vangelis
Akron, normally an opening rudo, replaced Stuka & Sauron replaced Misterioso. Locals showed no fear of the DF vets.
5) Mr. Niebla, Terrible, Texano b Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero
Mr. Niebla won again via Nieblina. He wants a heavyweight title match to prove he’s the best rudo in CMLL. UG agreed to put it next Monday
(which seems to imply UG held onto the title on Sunday.)
AAA announced TripleMania will take place on June 18th (a Saturday), once again at Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City. Tickets are to go on sale Friday on Ticketmaster, though they don’t have a listing yet. AAA hasn’t hinted at the card. Probably a continuation of recent feuds with random names being brought in, that seems the safe bet.
Hijo del Santo & Blue Demon Jr. held a press conference to hype their show this Sunday in Guadalajara. (Card below.) Demon doesn’t trust Perro Jr. as his partner, but could get no other. Speaking of Santo, reports are he was able to stop the restored (= more nudity) version of “El Vampiro y El Sexo” from being screened this week. The producer is sort of claiming Hijo del Santo is actually blocking it because he wants to get paid.
Dr. Landru posted video from the UWE show: Solar, Rocky Santana, Blue Panther vs Black Terry, Ray Mendoza, and Robin Maravilla (plus part 2), and Oficials vs Killer Family. Segunda Caida of course has a review of the Blak Terry match.
LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update and 2010’s 40 to 30 best, including the definitive recap of the Pequeno Halloween/Rebecca Reyes romance.

Looks like Gringo Loco is on that Gomez Palacio Show Thursday, where has he been lately?
That Arena Coliseo show is just amazing, every match is gonna be fun and I am so happy to see Histeria on the card, the more of him the better!!
It’s a different Gringo Loco. Sometimes they spell it Gringo Loko.
Smackdown 9.6
CMLL 1.6
AAA 3.5
RAW 8.9
I selfishly wish you’d had waited a day to post that, so 90% of Bryan and Steve (if they’re doing a show?) wouldn’t be obsessing about that CMLL number. Though it is a remarkable number.
@thecubsfan: I am convinced that Televisa is trying to damage both AAA and CMLL by running 21 minutes of advertising per hour on their shows.
CMLL was on track to run 72 minutes but it was saved by two very long blocks in hour 2.
I forgot to mention that CMLL went against the Mexico vs Paraguay game which did a combined 23.8 on Televisa and TV Azteca. Without the soccer game, CMLL probably would have been in the 2’s again.
Do you think Perro will actually show for that indy in Juarez?
Has anyone else seen or even heard of “Super Amigos”? I am sick as a dog and I watched it last night… pretty interesting.

@Chris: Yea, he’ll show. He’s been good about showing, the only problem has been how he’s been when he’s showed up.
@Nikita: Yes! It was all around the film festivals 2 or 3 years ago. I heard it was on Hulu but haven’t had a chance to watch.
@thecubsfan: Definately worth watching, both for the spectacle, and the deep cultural meaning. New respect for Fray Tormenta after seeing him with the orphans.
