Niebla returns, Super Porky down, Sombra a wanted man?, lineups

CMLL

CMLL (FRI) 03/04/2011 Arena Mexico [SuperLuchasMTCMLLCesarRecord]
1) Camaleón & Tigre BlancoApocalipsis & Inquisidor
2) Fabián el Gitano, Sensei, StarmanArkángel de la Muerte, Mortiz, Puma King
3) Goya Kong, Lluvia, MarcelaAmapola, La Comandante, Princesa Blanca
4) Misterioso Jr.Ángel de Oro [lightning]
Upset! Mistersioso used the ropes to stay on top for a pin at 7:43. Angel de Oro protested vociferously after the match.
5) Máximo, Super Porky, Valiente DQ Héctor Garza, Terrible, Texano
Straight fall win. Porky did a plancha off the stage to start the match. He later fainted during the match, and was checked by the doctors the rest of the time. Twitter thought Porky had a heart episode, but nothing’s mentioned about it in their recap. Valiente beat captain Garza in the first, and Texano fouled Maximo in the second.
6) Averno, Mr. Niebla, Negro CasasLa Sombra, Máscara Dorada, Rush
Niebla snuck in a foul on Sombra in the the third for the win in his return match. Averno took both Dorada & Sombra’s masks after the match.

Brazo de Plata having a fainting spell is a strange way to build up a hair match. Also strange is Super Porky and Satanico continuing to go back and forth about their own hair match. Porky says he also wants to retire Satanico, so Satanico hopes they do that match and go to a draw.

Sombra talked about Generacion de Oro attempting their seventh defense of the Trios titles this Sunday. Gifnally giving in on the name change.

A man in Cuernavaca claims La Sombra broke his nose and busted his lip two years ago, and the government has refused to do anything about it. Fernando Saldivar Zavala says it happened at the old Arena Isabel, the government has been giving him the run around since, and Sombra has avoided returning to Cuernavaca to stay out of the case. There’s no details about what led to the attack (if the attack happened.) I have no record of that show (which doesn’t mean much) or any result of Sombra being back in Cuernavaca since that date, but CMLL hasn’t run there much since Arena Isabel was shut down.

Ras de Lona included Demus laying out his plans for the Cancerberos, once he takes over. He figured that a trios is the best way to go, so he’s keeping Raziel and Polvora, but Euforia and Cancerbero may be let go. Poor Cancerbro, getting kicked out of the group with his own name! There were also interviews with everyone in every match at Dos Leyendas, except for Brazo de Plata & Maximo. That’s an odd duo to miss. Peste Negra were having a good time. Texano remembers he already beat Maximo for his hair once.

Today is the first day of the FMLL shows in Guadalajara. CMLL runs their show tonight, with the Oro II vs Fantasma de la Opera mask match. The undercard has a Traumas vs Puma/Tiger tag match and Guerreros vs Peste Negra in the main event.

  1. After watching the clips on CMLL.com I can not wait to see that main event in full.

Misterioso winning is a welcome surprise, it’s time to push that man maybe they see that after his amazing showing alongside Sombra in the National Tourney.

And how great does Mr. Niebla look in his new attire!!

  2. May be weak for 2 Leyendas, but Virus Vs Demus is all you need, you can have five other newbie matches for all I care.

  3. LATV is airing the top 2 from 12/03/10

    1) Dark Angel, Luna Mágica, Marcela b Estrellita, Mima Shimoda, Tiffany
    2) Delta, Stuka Jr., Valiente b Euforia, Pólvora, Sangre Azteca <- aired on Televisa previously.

  4. @thecubsfan: Why can’t they? One has giant boobs but the face of a 45 year old MILF, the other has giant boobs but the face of a 45 year old ex-stripper.

  5. Rob said that Roosh could be the next Humberto Garza Jr.

I think he’s great. He has charisma. Cuts good promos. Has a physique. As a heel he could easily main event.

  6. Hopefully in 10 years when Dorada and Rush are main eventing an Anniversary show, cubs will be nice enough to have removed all comments from their first few several months in CMLL from the luchablog.

  7. Some thoughts on tonights shows:

    GDL:
EScorpion/Vangelis vs Diamente/Valiente was pretty good. Valiente hits the moonsalt great as he always he. I wouldn’t mind seeing a 1 on 1 match with Valiente and Escopion.

The main event was awful and I don’t have much hope for the 2dL match if this had any bearing on that. Porky teased a Stretcher job but then got up and did nothing. Texano looked like he would rather be anywhere else than in GDL.

    Cadena Tres:

The opener was awesome. I wish Robin made TV more. He’s already better than La Mascara . Horus botched a cradle but made up for it wish his dive.

Magnus has potential but I feel bad that he will be rushed as the new Mistico. If he stayed in the undercard for a year or 2, he could be great. Magnus has the Look and La Mistica down pact though. Nice to see Pegasso, he hasn’t lost a step.

Virus/Demus was a good leadup to the stip match. I’m guessing Virus will be but I don’t know.

Semi main was good. It’s a shame was CMLL is doing to Fantasma. I think if the Sin Cara deal goes good, Fantasma will be in WWE this time next year.

  8. @thecubsfan: Seems like a lost episode from December that they are finally getting around to airing now. That’s what I figure based on them using Mistico in a filler segment. December was that terrible period when old episodes aired for weeks.

  9. Between the Chivas home game against Tigres, and the Canelo vs. Hatton fight, it was not the best weekend to run Guadalajara.

Sure, Canelo fought in Anaheim, but that fight dominated headlines and I’m sure everyone in GDL planned on watching the fight.
