CMLL (TUE) 03/01/2011 Arena Mexico [Record, CMLL]
***Fan Apperciation Day, Mar (TUE)***
1) Höruz, Robin, Trueno b Cholo, Disturbio, Semental
2) Magnus, Molotov, Rey Cometa b Dr. X, Hooligan, Nitro
Rey Cometa and Angel Azteca were replaced by Pegasso and Molotov. First loss for Magnus, who used a La Mistico like move for a pinfall during the match.
3) Virus b Demus 3:16
Straight fall wins for the vet, after Demus fouled him in the first fall. The list of stips so far for their big match: hair vs hair, loser is a mini, winner owns the Cancerbero, Virus must kiss Demus’ hand if he loses. Demus is asking the fans to demand the match take place at Dos Leyendas – it still has no date.
4) Ephesto, Mephisto, Volador Jr. b Hijo del Fantasma, Stuka Jr., Toscano
Volador replaced Averno, Fantasma replaced Metro. Volador won, destroying Stuka along the way. Volador has gone from feuding with Mistico to Super Porky to Stuka. If this doesn’t catch on, maybe he can go after Bengala?
5) Atlantis, Dragón Rojo Jr., Último Guerrero b Blue Panther, La Máscara, Máscara Dorada
Ultimo Guerrero beat La Mascara with his own campana (again!), then demanded a shot at the Mexican National Light Heavyweight Championship. La Mascara agreed, provided he gets a shot at UG’s CMLL Heavyweight Championship if he wins.
CMLL (TUE) 03/01/2011 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) El Divino b Thunder Boy
2) Malefico & Ráfaga b Hierro & Magnum
3) Amapola, La Comandante, Mima Shimoda b Lluvia, Marcela, Silueta
Comandante squashed Silueta with a plancha for the win.
4) Diamante & Valiente b Scorpion & Vangelis
5) Brazo de Plata & Máximo DQ Terrible & Texano Jr.
Renegados lost by destroying Super Porky. Paramedics came into the ring to check on Porky, but the rudos wouldn’t stop stomping them, causing the DQ. Terrible & Texano continued beating up the tecnicos and the referee.
This is Guadalajara and CMLL, so I don’t expect this bit to mean anything. It would be a nice way to sub someone into Super Porky’s spot for Dos Leyendas.
Prices for Dos Leyendas are 532 to 52 (including Ticketmaster markup.) I can not find last year’s numbers. WON says “5 times normal”, tickets are 359 to 40 this Friday, so the major show isn’t much of an increase then normal.
The Perros del Mal show ended in a DQ.
Felipe Ham Lee, a luchador of the 50s, 60s, and 70s, has reportedly passed away. Ham Lee was one of the most well known lucha libre trainers, as well as the gym that shares his name. He’s assisted in hall of fame guys like Villano III, Los Brazos, and Canek. As of August, he was on the Mexico City Box Y Lucha Commission. This would be the second commissioner they’ve lost in a year, following Scorpio. I’m sure there will be more about Ham Lee in the days that come.
Record launched a new lucha libre section yesterday. They include rankings based on win/loss records and who actually gets the pin, which declare Atlantis the top luchador in Mexico. There’s columns and news articles, though it’d be nice if there was a RSS feed to let us know when new articles are posted. Looks good though.
Terrible compares his and his partner to wolves versus the two pigs. I’ve heard tales where that doesn’t end well for the wolves – make sure you don’t come up against at brick houses!
Dr. Landru has video of Silver King/LA Park vs La Parka/Dr. Wagner Jr. from this Sunday’s IWRG show: Part 1, Part 2.
Heavy Metal thinks he can win the five match series in under five matches, but doesn’t want the Maniacos help. The article thinks that the fifth match will be at Rey de Reyes, which is either bad counting or a promise of two Electro/Metal matches on the same show. Match 3 will be in Puebla, Match 4 will in Morelia, so it makes sense. The loser loses their hair.
CMLL Gaceta has photos from Toscano, Angel de Oro and Sombra’s trip to the gym. They lift a lot of weight! (Not sarcastic, that’s impressive.)
LuchaWorld had KrisZ’s news update.
Dr. Lucha has a really good bio of Mistico in this week’s Figure Four Weekly. It’s pay only, but it’s worth paying.
