Averno will risk his mask anywhere (except this town)

CMLL (MON) 02/28/2011 Arena Puebla [Sportimes]
1) Asturiano, Milenium, Stigma b Fuerza Chicana, King Jaguar, Siki Osama
Asturiano was stretched out, and his team lost.
2) Dalys la Caribeña, Dark Angel, Luna Mágica b Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sujei, Zeuxis
3) Arkángel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Skándalo b Cancerbero, Escorpion, Raziel
Loco Max challenged Escorpion to a hair match. Escorpion agreed, only if they did a normal singles match first.
4) Ángel de Oro, Diamante, Rush b Euforia, Pólvora, Virus [MEX TRIOS]
first defense.
5) Averno b Máscara Dorada
Averno took the first, Dorada the third. Averno threw Dorada into the ref, then pulled Dorada’s mask and rolled him up for the rudo win. Dorada challenged Averno to a mask match. Averno cautioned Dorado to be careful who he’s messing with. Averno said he might have a mask match in Arena Mexico, but never in a town like Puebla. Puebla fans were not happy.

GoldVillano, who I have trouble believing at times , says Dr. Karonte was unhappy with the Sin Cara interview in Luchas 2000. Dr. Karonte (Sin Cara’s father) says he was standing there for the interview, then read the interview and realized Luchas 2000 manufactured a question/answer to “confirm” their interviews in recent weeks were not made up. Dr. Karonte is adamant that quote and the other interviews are fiction. This is all very second and third hand.

The bigger point here is everyone believes Luchas 2000 was inventing interviews with Mistico for the last month. For me, it really doesn’t matter if the information Luchas 2000 had was fabricated or false information fed to them, it was still wrong. And wrong info that people involved in that magazine definitely knew was wrong for a long time before Thursday’s press conference. They served their customers well, just their customers weren’t the people who were buying the magazine off the newsstand.

The GoldVillano interview also mentions Karonte concern that Astro Boy may be punished,  but it’s awful tough to punish a guy who only works openers and gets maybe 3 matches a month. (He had 29 last year.) There’s no mention of Magnus here as another brother who may be in trouble. One of the reasons we think Magnus is related to Sin Cara/Karonte/Astro Boy (though more likely a cousin) is because Magnus is not the first name that man’s used. He was also the new Astro Boy who debuted on December Toryumon Mexico show.

El Siglo de Torreon has an article about the few Laguna luchadors who have actually gotten a license. It’s an annual tradition! This year, they’ve published the complete list of licensed luchadors: Shira (women wrestler), Lady Angel (women), Principe Zorro (opening match guy) and El Tackle (el Tackle!) There’s said to be about a 180 luchadors in the area, who all would be fined or suspended if they don’t get licensed by their next match. We never ever actually hear about that part happening.

Zumbido puts his hair against Hijo del Solitario on the 18th. I wonder if there will be live coverage of that show? (I wonder why, of all days, they picked that day.) I like how the preview says a Zumbido win would be one of his greatest triumphant. “One of”? I must be blanking on the other sons of legends he’s unmasked.

Also in the area, a new class specifically for apsring luchadoras, because there’s few around La Laguna. The two women who have licensed seem to turn up more in Arena Femenil in Monterrey than their home area.

The game developer behind AAA Heroes del Ring mentions the game ranked in the top 5 among third party devloped games in Mexico during the Christmas season. “Mixed results in other countries.” No sequel is mentioned.

AAA TV (MON) 02/28/2011 Lienzo Charro Ignacio León Ornelas, Irapuato, Guanajuato [Black Terry Jr. (flickr), Mi Lucha Libre (4), Mi Lucha Libre (3), AAA]
1) Mascarita Divina, Mini Charly Manson, Octagoncito b Mini Chessman, Mini Histeria, Mini Psicosis
Octagoncito on Histeria.
2) Heavy Metal b Electroshock
Metal tied it up as 1-1, but not by himself. Los Maniacos interfered to attack Electro and convince Metal to join up. Heavy didn’t seem happy about this.
3) Cuervo & Ozz NC Damián 666 & Zorro
The non-finishes are back. Match originally had Charly & Nygma instead of Ozz & Cuervo. Rudos had Bestia 666 & Jennifer Blake interfering for them. Bizarros (Charly, Escoria, Taboo) ran in and attacked Ozz & Cuervo (???), turned to leave, then came back to destroy Zorro. Zorro’s face was covered in blood. Charly challenged him for a title match and said his nightmare was going to return.
4) LA Park b Dr. Wagner Jr., Nicho el Millionario, Halloween [Rey de Reyes, semifinal]
Nicho suffered a head injury but kept going. Wagner defeated Halloween with a Wagner Driver, then defeated Nicho the same way. Damian ran in, but turned on Park with chair shots (??). Wagner went after Damian (????), then went for a figure four on Park. Park small packaged him for the win. LA Park and Mesias get their rematch as part of the four way Rey de Reyes final.
5) Extreme Tiger, Jack Evans, La Parka b Charly Manson, Cibernético, Escoria
Charly replaced Amadeus, who does not get a main event. Cuervo & Ozz were replaced by Jack Evans and Extreme Tiger. Parka pinned Scoria. Zorro ran into attack Charly Manson, but Cibernetico was paying enough attention to save his friend this time. (As opposed to the main event in Arena Naucalpan.) La Sociedad ran in to save Zorro. Joaquin Roldan, Dr. Wagner, Ozz, Cuervo and Nicho ran out for the counter save. Wagner talked to La Parka about forming a more perfect union, but Parka said he wanted Los Bizarros at Rey de Reyes – it’s personal. Parka’s getting to choose his partners for a match versus the Bizarros (unclear which ones) for Rey de Reyes, and Wagner talked about doing the same to face La Sociedad.

2011 AAA TV Chart
Projected Air Date (#979)
Mexico: 03/06
US: 03/19

Hope some stuff makes more sense on TV!

Rey de Reyes looks like

  • Zorro (c) vs Charly Manson [AAA HEAVY]
  • Extreme Tiger vs Mesias vs LA Park vs 03/04 winner [Rey de Reyes]
  • Team La Parka (Jack? Ozz? Cuervo?) vs Cibernetico & two other Bizarros (Scoria & Taboo?)
  • Team Wagner (Nicho & Lider?) vs Sociedad (Perro? Chessman? Damian?)
  • Heavy Metal vs Electroshock [Match 4 of 5] (so weird)

There’s probably a relevos AAA match in here, to continue the Apaches/Tirantes feud. And there should be a Octagon/Aerostar/Laredo Kid vs Super Fly/Decnnis/whoever match as well.

Seven matches has been the standard of late, though I’d wish they’d tape eight and air four per week. The three match shows are substantially worse if you’re watching live. This past Saturday’s Galavision show had 52 minutes of commercials in a two hour show, and the other 68 minutes had plenty of filler.

Wagner’s new shirt looks neat. I wish I could buy it. WWE makes a lot of money off merchandise and DVD sales. I’d bet that an AAAShopZone.com! would help AAA more in the long run than a single show with CMLL, but I’m drifting off the point now.

03/18 CMLL Dos Leyendas Lineup

CMLL (FRI) 03/18/2011 Arena Mexico
***Dos Leyendas: Salavador Lutteroth & Angel Blanco***
2) Diamante, Metro, Stuka Jr. vs Cancerbero, Euforia, Raziel
3) Ángel de Oro, Blue Panther, Valiente vs Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero
4) La Sombra, Rush, Toscano vs Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas
5) Averno vs Máscara Dorada [NWA MIDDLE]
6) Máximo & Super Porky vs Terrible & Texano [hair]

Card via MedioTiempo. Guessing CMLL sent out a press release last night and this should be on their site soon. Show will either air eight days later, or never at all in Mexico (though it’ll turn up on Samurai TV sooner or later.) I would’ev bet we had Rey de Reyes lineup before this one – this is why I don’t bet.

The missing opener is a minis trios.

Main event is announced as both hairs vs both hairs. Then again, CMLL.com had a video on their site declaring someone would lose a mask on this show and that’s not happening. Right now, it’s two hairs vs two hairs.

Averno vs Mascara Dorada is the only match added of real importance. I think it helps a little, but it’s still going to be a tough sell. This feud doesn’t seem to have captured the fan’s attention as they’d like, the champions don’t really mean a lot, and they’ve seen this non-title match a lot lately.

Rest of the card looks like a product of the random match generator. They all could be good, but there’s no sign of the other feuds which were being built up for possibly being on this show. Nice to see Cancerbero & Raziel make a major show, no one would’ve figured on that a couple years ago.

CMLL’s flipped around this Friday’s lineup, probably to set up the title match in this week’s main event.

5) Máximo, Super Porky, Valiente vs Héctor Garza, Terrible, Texano
6) La Sombra, Máscara Dorada, Rush vs Averno, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas

Also, Arkangel replaces Loco Max and I didn’t list the Angel de Oro/Misterioso lightning match.
