IWRG (SUN) 02/06/2011 Arena Naucalpan [Black Terry Jr. (flickr), Estrellas del Ring]
1) Guizmo b Guerrero 2000 straight falls
2) Alan Extreme & Dinamic Black CO Imposible & Keshin Black
3) Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro, Multifacético DQ Bombero Infernal, Comando Negro, Hammer Comando Negro pulled Multifactetico’s mask for the DQ.
4) Black Terry, El Brazo, Negro Navarro DQ Ángel Mortal, Gran Apache, Head Hunter I Head Hunter I was the surprise. Huh. This was a fork heavy, bloody match.
13) Hijo de Pirata Morgan b Hijo de LA Park [final, junior de juniors] Bestia seconded Morgan (Perros and Pirata have been working together here) and Trauma I seconded Park. Pirata took a foul, but then gave it one back. He was given an old Estadio de Mexico championship belt as a trophy (no weight class markings on it), so he’ll likely be defending this title again.
CMLL (SUN) 02/06/2011 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Titanio b In Memoriam
2) Artillero & Súper Comando b Thunder Boy & Virgo
3) Drago & Ráfaga b Guerrero Maya Jr. & Rey Cometa Upset! Guerrero Maya must still be getting back into the swing of things.
4) Delta & Stuka Jr. b Cancerbero & Pólvora
5) Atlantis, Dragón Rojo Jr., Último Guerrero b La Máscara, La Sombra, Máscara Dorada Guerreros win with triple Atlantidas and demand a CMLL World Trios title match next week. Tecnicos agree.
That trios match will happen next Sunday, which means Mr. Niebla is NOT returning on that show.
On this week’s AAA TV, they announced Carlito would be coming in for the Rey de Reyes tournament. Probably the actual show as well. Block B of the tournament was announced as Dr. Wagner, LA Park, Nicho and Halloween, and that should be quite insane.
Marco Corleone’s interview on Unplugged can be downloaded here (starts 34 min in); prowrestling.net has a text recap of a different interview. Mini Marco Corleone would be hilarious.
Lineups
New main event for Sunday @ Arena Mexico
5) Blue Panther, Super Porky, Toscano vs Héctor Garza, Negro Casas, Volador Jr.
PdM IWL (SAT) 02/05/2011 Centro de Convenciones Tlalnepantla [Black Terry Jr. (flickr), The Gladiatores, Estrella del Ring]
1) Tony Cirio & Tony Cirio Jr. b Payaso Fantastico I & Payaso Fantastico II
2) Lady Afrodita & Lolita b Chica Tormenta & Keira
3) Angel o Demonio, Leon Chino, Ovett CO Centinela, Low Rider, Último Vampiro
4) Fantasma de la Ópera, Pesadilla, Ragde b Fishman Jr., Turbo, Zumbido
5) Bestia 666 & X-Fly b Daga & Eterno [IWL TAG]
6) El Mesías, Extreme Tiger, Jack Evans DQ Damián 666, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Halloween Perro fouled Mesias, got the three count, and then the ref overturned it to award the DQ.
Tough to get a sense of the size of the crowd thru the pictures (and the unfamiliar building.) Seemed to do OK.
CMLL (SUN) 02/06/2011 Arena Coliseo [Cesar]
1) Ramstein & Semental b Camaleón & Höruz
2) Goya Kong, Lluvia, Marcela b La Comandante, Mima Shimoda, Princesa Sujei
3) Pequeño Olímpico b Mascarita Dorada, Eléctrico, Pierrothito, Pequeño Violencia, Mercurio, Fantasy, Astral, Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Maximo [cibernetico, #1 Contenders, CMLL] #1 contenders stipulation had not been announcers prior to the show. Wrestlers listed in reverse order of elimination. Pierrothito and Electrico eliminated each other. Dorada was over confident and pinned. They keep teasing Dorada vs Bam Bam every time they team, and here again, but it’s probably many months away.
4) Ephesto, Felino, Rey Bucanero b Hijo del Fantasma, Rush, Valiente Rush replaced Sagrado. Rudos took it with the three man Guerreros entanglement submission, usually only seen with Ultimo Guerrero.
5) Héctor Garza, Negro Casas, Volador Jr. b Blue Panther, Brazo de Plata, Toscano Volador’s legend killer feud has hastily switched from Blue Panther to Brazo de Plata. Less interesting but probably an attempt for more of a reaction. Said to be a poor match. Garza distracted the ref for a Volador foul in the end. Porky challenged for a hair vs mask match, and it’s been a while since Brazo de Plata has lost his hair here.
If the women’s cibernetico ended up being for a title shot, and this minis cibernetico ended up for a title shot, I wonder what title the midcarders challenging for on Tuesday? Valiente’s championship? (That’d mean Virus would be the strong favorite, with Stuka & Demus behind.)
Luchas 2000 #556 and Super Luchas #400 both have stories on Mistico. Cesar helpfully grabbed copies of each and wrote about them; not a lot of new info right now, more keeping the story warm for a week while we wait for this press conference. The one important bit is a comment in Luchas 2000, from CMLL’s Miguel Reducindo (pictured here), claiming Mistico will be at the press conference to explain what’s going on. CMLL has been less than totally honest throughout, so I don’t automatically believe this to be true. If it is, it could mean a new Mistico (the Mistico mask on Luchas 2000 is a slightly new design) or the old one saying goodbye (which would be nice and totally unexpected.)
It sounds like that press conference will be Thursday, as they usually are, and not Monday or Tuesday.
Cesar writes about good small arenas wrestlers not making good big arena wrestlers. I think this is about IWRG? IWRG is never said by those letters. I wish I had more time tonight to fully express my disagreement in Cesar’s belief that Sagrado connects with the crowd better than Valiente (or I totally misread something in my head.)
Porra Fresa previews Monday’s Arena Puebla show. Tirantes will referee Psicosis/Ultimo Guerrero. He also reposts a bio of Rayo de Jalisco.
Mask Mania writes about autograph signing with CMLL luchadors. You know, the sadness of everything didn’t hit me until I read his notes on Averno vs Mistico match, with both of them talking about facing off again one day when they both knew that day may be a long way away.
Lineups
IWRG (THU) 02/10/2011 Arena Naucalpan
1) Lucky Boy vs Imperial
2) Dinamic Black & Eterno vs Carta Brava Jr. & Imposible
3) Alan Extreme, Explosivo, Tony Rivera vs Black Sky, Comando Negro, Fresero Jr.
4) Negro Navarro, Trauma I, Trauma II vs Avisman, Destroyer, El Hijo del Diablo
5) Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown vs Bestia 666, Damián 666, X-Fly
Black Sky and Fresero Jr. both are making their debuts on non-trainee shows. Lucky Boy appears to be making his debut entirely. Trauma II hasn’t been here since June (and/or since they had plans for the Traumas as a pair.)
CMLL (SUN) 02/13/2011 Arena Mexico ***Fan Appreciation Show, February (SUN)***
1) Camaleón & Trueno vs Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Ángel Azteca, Fabián el Gitano, Metálico vs Hooligan, Nitro, Raziel
3) Bam Bam vs Pequeño Olímpico [CMLL MINI]
4) Rush, Stuka Jr., Valiente vs Felino, Terrible, Texano Jr.
5) Blue Panther, Máximo, Toscano vs Ephesto, Héctor Garza, Volador Jr.
Lineup may be changed if they’ve indeed changed Volador’s feud. Bam Bam/Olimpico should be good, would air on Fox.
CMLL (SUN) 02/13/2011 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Astro Boy & Robin vs Acertijo & Drago
2) Metal Blanco & Sensei vs Inquisidor & Semental
3) Diamante & Metro vs Euforia & Vangelis
4) Mr. Niebla & Negro Casas vs Atlantis & Último Guerrero
A couple returns here. Mr. Niebla will probably be brought at the press conference (and I hope he just runs in on it, just like last time.) Diamante’s return, if this turns out to be it, will have a little less fanfare. The belief is one-third of the national trios champions was suspended because – well, Mistico might have been one who signed with WWE, but he wasn’t the only one who tried out. (And there were more than two, for what it’s worth.)
IWRG (SUN) 02/13/2011 Arena Naucalpan
1) El Pollo & Eragon vs Hammer & Magnifico
2) Alan Extreme, Dinamic Black, Goleador vs Carta Brava Jr., Comando Negro, Eterno
3) el Ángel, Multifacético, Veneno vs Avisman, Destroyer, El Hijo del Diablo
4) Hijo de LA Park, Hijo del Pantera, Trauma I vs Bestia 666, Hijo de Máscara Año 2000, Hijo de Pirata Morgan
Main event seems to be set up by tonight’s Junior de Juniors tournament. Goleador hasn’t been around for about a year, and he’s opposite Comando Negro…
CMLL AULL (WED) 02/16/2011 Arena Lopez Mateos
1) Eros, Freelance, Rey Krystal vs Hombre sin Rostro, Kilvan, Ronny Ventura
2) Love Angel, Mike Segura, Zumbi vs Epitafio, Mega Destroyer, Rey Krimen
3) Iron Love, Sadico, Yakuza vs Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro
4) La Máscara & Latin Lover vs Héctor Garza & Olímpico and Arkángel de la Muerte & Black Warrior and Máximo & Sagrado [UWE TAG, qf]
One of the non-Arena Mexico dates Cesar mentions in his post for both Latin Lover and Black Warrior. I’d be surprised if Latin won, because I can’t see him being brought back for the tournament final and he has no problem losing to Hector Garza. Warrior’s test is showing up at all.
AAA TV (FRI) 02/04/2011 Arena Naucalpan [Black Terry Jr. (flickr), Mi Lucha Libre (3), AAA]
Attendance: 2800
1) Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro, Eterno b Argenis, Atomic Boy, Gato Eveready IWRG wins! Various IWRG rudos ran in post match to beat down the tecnicos. Only Pirata Morgan Jr. was identified.
2) Ronin & Sexy Star b Fabi Apache & Sugi Sugi’s return to TV. Fabi had Sexi pinned with a Tiger Suplex, but Tirantes broke it up and helped Sexi Star get the pin. Gran Apache ran him off after.
3) Extreme Tiger b Joe Lider and Cuervo and Chessman [Rey de Reyes, semifinal] Chessman eliminated Cuervo and Lider, but Tiger got the pin on him to advance.
4) Electroshock b Heavy Metal Earlier in the night, Metal challenged Electroshock to make this a best of five series, with the loser losing his hair. Electroshock quickly agreed, then doubted Metal would last the whole series. Electroshock is now calling himself a High Definition Luchador. For this match, Metal had the woman and mini with him from his recent vignettes. The mini tried bringing in a guitar to help, but Electroshock took it and used it for the win.
5) El Mesías, Espíritu, Ozz b Decnnis, LA Park, Zorro Park went for a top rope splash, Mesias got his knees up, and hit his own top rope splash for the win. Rudos (including Decnnis, who suffered a head injury) attacked post match, and Cuervo ran out for the save. Hints here that Mesias and the Sect may be friends again.
6) Charly Manson, Cibernético, Escoria b Jack Evans, La Parka, Nicho el Millionario Charly had Parka set up for El Pozo again, Zorro returned to cane Charly, and Parka picked up the pin.
CMLL (FRI) 02/04/2011 Arena Mexico [SuperLuchas, Cesar, CMLL]
1) Apocalipsis & Bronco b Astro Boy & Bengala Astro Boy wore a white/silver outfit. And lost.
2) Pequeño Olímpico, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito b Pequeño Maximo, Shockercito, Último Dragoncito Ultimo Dragoncito also wore a white/silver outfit.
3) Ángel Azteca Jr., Ángel de Oro, Ángel de Plata b Cancerbero, Raziel, Virus Plata had a silver outfit (but that’s in his name!) Best match of the night.
4) Olímpico b Hijo del Fantasma [lightning match] inexplicable result
5) Dragón Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Texano DQ La Máscara, Máximo, Sangre Azteca Dragon Rojo and Misterioso jumped Sangre Azteca as he was entering. Straight falls, with Misterioso ripping Sangre’s mask off. Misterioso was a replacement for Volador. Rudos attacked the other tecnicos, and Super Porky ‘ran’ in to make the save.
6) Averno, Mephisto, Último Guerrero DQ La Sombra, Máscara Dorada, Super Porky straight falls, with Averno tossing his mask to Dorada to draw the DQ
Ras de Lona mentioned “Mistico causes controversy”, showing the SuperLuchas cover and the WWE logo (in front off Mistico footage – mostly as as rudo) and promising details next week.
Waiting for AAA to post their version of results before I post that.
CMLL (FRI) 02/11/2011 Arena Mexico
1) Höruz & Tigre Blanco vs Camorra & Disturbio
2) Ángel de Plata, Magnus, Rey Cometa vs Bobby Zavala, Loco Max, Skándalo
3) Delta & Héctor Garza vs Terrible & Toscano and El Alebrije & Sangre Azteca and Mr. Águila & Rush and Blue Panther & Dragón Rojo Jr. and Ángel de Oro & Último Guerrero and Metro & Rey Bucanero and Olímpico & Super Porky [natl pi, semifinal]
4) Máscara Dorada vs Averno
Non-title main event.
The national parajes increíbles tournament for another year. There will be another block next week, no idea if Atlantis & Mascara Dorada get to defend their championship. We should know more at the press conference. Like last year, we’ve got teams from Laguna (Panther/Dragon + Oro/UG), Nuevo Leon (Terrible/Toscano + Delta/Garza), GDL (Aguila/Rush), and DF (Metro/Rey, Olimpico/Porky, Sangre/Alebrije.) No obvious favorites, and no people in current feuds teaming up. They did manage to make them all tecnico/rudo pairs this time.
