Cuervo, Espíritu, Ozz vs Billy Boy, Decnnis, Tigre Cota: Hey, it’s the Barrio Boys vs the Dark Family! These guys are surely going places. Still a good match, Milicia still amusing. I’m really ready for a taping where I have something more specific to write about.
Aerostar, El Elegido, Octagón vs Alan Stone, Chris Stone, Súper Fly: A better match than the Guerra de Titanes, but that was generally the idea. Super Fly seems to be adapting well to taking tecnico offense instead of being the one to give it out. Alan checking himself out with the Elegido mask was fun.
Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown vs Bestia 666, Damián 666, Halloween: Bestia did fine for his first AAA TV match. The match was kind of a backstep to where everything was before the cage match, but I think that’s the general idea. The feud doesn’t seem done, and these two sides are probably going to be locked together for a while to go.
CMLL (MON) 02/21/2011 Arena Puebla [SporTimes, Fuego en el Ring]
1) Ares & Centauro de Fuego b Blue Center & Silver First match for Silver here since September.
2) Asturiano, Fabián el Gitano, Metálico b Demus 3:16, Durango Kid, Espiritu Maligno
3) Escorpion, Puma King, Raziel b Hooligan, Loco Max, Nitro Escorpion challenged Loco Max to a singles match after the win.
4) Nosferatu, Pólvora, Virus b Ángel de Oro, Diamante, Rush Despite Noferatu filling in for Euforia, the rudos still won this match for the second straight week. Title match demanded and accepted for next week.
5) Blue Panther, La Máscara, Máscara Dorada b Atlantis, Averno, Último Guerrero Averno and Dorada were ripping masks thru the match, and Dorada beat Averno again. Mascara Dorada demanded a title match, but Averno refused again.
Zorro in his mask – or someone else wearing Zorro’s mask – was seen on this week’s AAA TV. Their website suddenly remembers TripleMania from two years ago, where a masked Zorro attacked the Legion to cost them the match, and then was really never explained (“he was crazy, he’s slightly better now” is the closest they came), hopefully suggesting we may get a resolution to all of that. (Nah.)
Usual article about adults teaching lucha libre to children to keep children off of drugs and from a bad lifestyle is a bit more interesting because it’s the Mexico City education department and lucha commission sponsoring (Fantasma), various retired people (Emilio Charles! Signo!) and members of CMLL (only Panther mentioned here, Rush and Loco Max elsewhere.) It’s the sort of event where they had a Solar vs Negro Navarro match to kick it off. They want to being lucha libre to the neighborhood spaces. There are some odd shots in the parts of the speeches quoted: US wrestling is unregulated because it’s pure show but still bad for the youth. Also, the problems this initiative is combating – violence, obesity, and drug abuse – are referred to as “Perros del Mal”. Maybe that’s just word play, but perhaps there’s some overlap. This article randomly is accompanied by a picture of Cibernetico, who has surely never taken an illicit substance in his life.
La Presna thinks CMLL will be forced to address the Mistico situation whenever they announce the Dos Leyendas main event (which supposedly will happen this Thursday or next.) I doubt it – they would’ve already if they ever were going to (it’s been 22 days), and that press conference should be about that show.
A Box Y Lucha rumor column suggests Los Perros del Mal, LA Park and Dr. Wagner are all returning to Arena Mexico. One paragraph down, they also had Mistico showing up in Puebla on Saturday, which didn’t happen and wasn’t ever going to happen, so…
Angel de Oro, Diamante, and Fuego will face Felino, Polvora, and Misterioso on 03/20 in Arena Coliseo, all dressed as a paper robots. This is the same CMLL contribution to the Kami-Robo museum exhibit earlier this year. Not sure if it’s part of the usual Sunday show or something separate, but I hope we get to see it. It sounds at least as good as the Hulk vs Abomination match.
CMLL (SUN) 02/27/2011 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara

IWRG (SUN) 02/20/2011 Arena Naucalpan [Black Terry Jr. (flickr), The Gladiatores, Estrellas del Ring]

9) Electroshock b Veneno [UWF US HEAVY, quarterfinal]
10) Pirata Morgan b Electroshock [UWF US HEAVY, quarterfinal] Pirata used a ref distraction to foul Electroshock and advance.
11) El Brazo DQ Head Hunter I [UWF US HEAVY, semifinal] Both advanced here by being the last two in a seeding battle royal. Their match lasted two minutes before Head Hunter accidentally hit the ref, causing the DQ.
12) Pirata Morgan b El Brazo [UWF US HEAVY, final] Brazo hurt himself on a dive and it looked like the match was going to stop, but Brazo continued. Pirata ended up submitting him to win the title. Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. appeared to hand over the title.
Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. had won the UWF US Heavyweight championship from Hijo del Pirata Morgan on 2010-12-19 in this building. The title originates in Laredo Promotions in northern Mexico, where the Piratas had been working last year. Haven’t seen shows from them yet this year. Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. is out of action with a back injury, but requested a title match when he returns.
CMLL (SUN) 02/20/2011 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Nube Roja b Thunder Boy
2) Metálico & Trueno b Drago & Infierno
3) Goya Kong & Silueta b La Comandante & Princesa Blanca Upset. Blanca replaced Seductora.
4) Cancerbero, Inquisidor, Pólvora b Ángel de Oro, Gallo, Metal Blanco Rudos win. This was two straight wins for Inquisidor over Metal Blanco, setting up a title match next week.
5) Hijo del Fantasma, Super Porky, Valiente b Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Texano Jr. Rudos (including Perico and Comadante) didn’t get along in the third fall. Perico ended up attack Terrible to help Fantasma win.
Porky also found time to challenge Satanico to a hair match (which is the fourth different challenge he’s made in the last couple of weeks.) Satanico said he’d accept, once he recovers from recent surgery.
The Perros del Mal makeup show included a main event ended in DQ, Super Crazy suddenly remembered he was a Perro and shouldn’t be teaming with Jack and Extreme Tiger.
Magnus is taking Mistico’s place on the shows in Monterrey and Satillo this weekend. They’re wasting no time. Mistico is supposed to be on The Platanito Show on Telehit tonight at 10pm. The segment was taped last week, and Mistico appears with the new red cross mask on the show’s facebook page. That channel has a US feed – it’s around 651 for me. I’ll post video if anything interesting happens.
Sexi Star, Mesias, Chessman and La Parka crashed “Sabadaz en Pajamanas” to have a word with squaky mascot Winnie the Kid (last seen feuding with Shocker.) He brought in Latin Lover to counter. Latin Lover demonstrated how to throw punches (shake the camera, make a sound effect). This is a confusing paragraph, but I think we can now add Winnie to our list of suspects for Mesias’ attack.

5) Hormiga, Paranoiko, Pesadilla vs Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro
6) Head Hunter I & Kaientai vs Aero Boy & Violento Jack and Sugi San & Zumbi
Head Hunter? Dizzy! Show is named “Explosion”, and I’m mildly surprised DTU hasn’t done one of those matches yet. Sugi & Zumbi are Antonio Inoki’s new favorite team.
1) Disturbio & Semental b Astro Boy & Camaleón CMLL’s recap notes the rudo fans were chanting for Astro Boy to join their side.
2) Fabián el Gitano, Leono, Starman b Durango Kid, Hooligan, Puma King
3) Dr. X, Nitro, Skándalo b Ángel de Plata, Fuego, Guerrero Maya Jr.
4) Máximo, Sagrado, Sangre Azteca b Felino, Shigeo Okumura, Yoshihashi Cesar reads into Sagrado being captain here as a punishment to Maximo. CMLL’s pretty random about captains.
5) La Máscara, La Sombra, Máscara Dorada DQ Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto Finish came down to Averno vs La Mascara. Averno took advantage of Tigre Hispano getting knocked down by trying a foul, but La Mascara blocked that. Averno tried again, taking off his mask and handing it to La Mascara. Ref spotted it, called the DQ. Everyone made challenges for next week.
SuperLuchas #402 includes an interview with Mr. Niebla, who says he’ll be back in Arena Mexico on 03/04. The interview was in CMLL’s offices, so I believe him. (Unless his knee acts up again.)
Luchas 2000 #558 has Maximo & Porky vs Texano & Terrible, Mr. Niebla and Mistico. Cesar wrote about that last story – that interview claims Mistico is still with CMLL and that he’ll be on a TV interview Monday night. Meanwhile, RJ Figueroa talked to Mistico’s lawyer, who says he’s out of CMLL but still in Mexico. I’m certain Mistico is (still) headed to WWE, but he’s (still) working the shows they’ve got him scheduled for this week and any other dates he’d agreed to, and they’re probably (badly) trying to keep this quiet until that’s all done.
IWRG (THU) 02/24/2011 Arena Naucalpan
1) Alan Extreme & Dinamic Black vs Imposible & Muerte Infernal
2) Eragon, Explosivo, Freelance vs Carta Brava Jr., Comando Negro, El Pollo
3) Hijo de Pirata Morgan & Pirata Morgan vs Negro Navarro & Trauma I
4) Joe Lider, Nicho el Millionario, Último Gladiador vs El Brazo, Oficial 911, Oficial Fierro
That chicken’s gone foul.
Last week’s trios match and post match promo said that tag match would be for the IWRG tag titles, though it wasn’t listed that way on the lineup I saw.
CMLL (SUN) 02/27/2011 Arena Coliseo

4) Ángel de Oro, La Máscara, Valiente vs Ephesto, Último Guerrero, Volador Jr.
5) Blue Panther, La Sombra, Máscara Dorada vs Atlantis, Averno, Mephisto
Pegasso returns! (Possibly.) Main event is subject to change after tonight’s finish.
IWRG (SUN) 02/27/2011 Arena Naucalpan
1) Alan Extreme & Dinamic Black vs Imposible & Keshin Black
2) Fresero Jr. & Montana vs Hammer & Magnifico
3) Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro vs Avisman, Destroyer, El Hijo del Diablo
4) Black Terry, El Brazo, Negro Navarro vs Ángel Mortal, Head Hunter I, Pirata Morgan
5) Dr. Wagner Jr. & La Parka Jr. vs LA Park & Silver King
This show will do pretty well.
Montana was a ACG wrestle for half a minute in 2009. He appears to be an Angel Mortal trainee.
CMLL (SUN) 02/27/2011 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Black Metal & Metatrón vs Camorra & Durango Kid
2) Eléctrico, Meteoro, Último Dragoncito vs Pequeño Olímpico, Pequeño Violencia, Pierrothito
3) Metal Blanco vs Inquisidor [OCCIDENTE WELTER]
4) Felino, Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero vs Héctor Garza, Terrible, Texano Jr.
Inquisidor is getting a shot? I’m totally in favor of more people getting title shots, just to see what they can do.
