longest match of the the tournament, at 5:04
7) Metro & Rey Bucanero b Mr. Águila & Rush [natl pi, quarterfinal]
8) Blue Panther & Dragón Rojo Jr. b Ángel de Oro & Último Guerrero [natl pi, quarterfinal]
Laguna vs Laguna!
9) Blue Panther & Dragón Rojo Jr. b Metro & Rey Bucanero [natl pi, semifinal]
10) Máscara Dorada b Averno
Dorada took falls 2 and 3. The reversal sequence leading to the finish was awfully familiar. Instead of an armbar, Dorada won with a fireman’s carry bomb, same move he was using in his match with Taguchi. Dorada challenged for a title match and a mask match.
The talk of the night was the new luchador in the segunda, Magnus. There had been talk about him being a new Mistico, but nearly every new masked tecnico introduced in the next two years has been molded like a new Mistico. This was a bit something more. Magnus had been wearing a white and red mask in his pre-debut interviews, but now suddenly had a white and silver mask redesigned to look very close to Mistico’s mask. Similar gear and similar moves too. Magnus didn’t use La Mistica as a finish, but did use an arm submission – Alberto Del Rio’s cross armbreaker. Magnus is CMLL’s Mistico II, without actually using the name. (So far.) Notice he even has his own t-shirt already.
Cesar outs Magnus as Mistico’s cousin, says he looked nervous early and the crowd turned on him (though his late crazy dive might have won some of them back.) The reaction to this stunt has been negative, everyone feeling like CMLL is trying to deceive the fans. It also seems a shot at Mistico, that they can just put a new guy under nearly the suit and think they get away with it. (Ras de Lona’s promised story on Mistico did not appear.)
Ras de Lona alos aired a skit with Mini Maximo and Perico for Valentine’s Day. We had believed they were the same guy, but they weren’t in the same skit. Perico looked a couple inches shorter than Mini Maximo, and there’s not many people that size around lucha libre.
Fabi Apache will be out for a few weeks due to Hijo de Tirantes attack to her leg on the Arena Naucalpan show. (In reality, she came into the match with a leg injury and this was their way of writing her out.) Mari Apache will take her place in all matches.

Lineups
CMLL (TUE) 02/15/2011 Arena Mexico
1) Robin & Trueno vs Cholo & Ramstein
2) Astral, Bam Bam, Eléctrico vs Pequeño Olímpico, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito
3) Euforia, Pólvora, Virus vs Arkángel de la Muerte, Demus 3:16, Hijo del Signo
4) Ángel de Oro, Delta, Metro vs Shigeo Okumura, Vangelis, Yoshihashi
5) La Sombra, Máscara Dorada, Rush vs Averno, Dragón Rojo Jr., Ephesto
Semimain is a bit weak, but the tercera makes up for it. They’re following up on the Demus/Virus issues from last week’s cibernetico. It’s also the closet they’ve come yet to the Cancerberos vs Tuareg match both sides really want to do.
Segunda features Bam Bam vs Olimpico, two days after their title match. And main has more Dorada/Averno issues.
CMLL (FRI) 02/18/2011 Arena Mexico
1) Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II vs Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Dalys la Caribeña, Dark Angel, Luna Mágica vs Amapola, Princesa Sujei, Zeuxis
3) Atlantis & Máscara Dorada vs Felino & La Máscara and La Sombra & Misterioso Jr. and Diamante & Volador Jr. and Ephesto & Stuka Jr. and Máximo & Negro Casas and Psicosis & Valiente andHijo del Fantasma & Mephisto [natl pi, semifinal]
4) Blue Panther, Rush, Super Porky vs Terrible, Texano, Último Guerrero
Hijo del Fantasma & Mephisto are the designated team to fall apart, and that’s okay. Psicosis & Valiente is the really great looking team on paper which will probably struggle to win it’s first match. Atlantis & Mascara Dorada are the returnign champions and the heavy favorites.
Main event seems to be combining Rush & Super Porky’s individual issues with los Renegados. Teaming someone up with Brazo de Plata is one way to make someone more likable.
CMLL (SUN) 02/20/2011 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Thunder Boy vs Nube Roja
2) Metálico & Trueno vs Drago & Infierno
3) Goya Kong & Silueta vs La Comandante & La Seductora

Sombra & Misterioso stick out like a sore thumb there. Rojo getting a win over Sombra in the finals makes a ton of sense, if we are to believe that Rojo is the new young rudo to take notice of.
Magnus? CMLL is full of shit, to pull this kind of stunt on their home crowd.
Why just call him Mistico’s cousin when they can say this was Mistico’s long lost twin. “El Cuate de Mistico” since he couldn’t have been a Jr or could he?
If Magnus turns out to be the Mistico Jr the story should go like this Mistico was rapped at a young age and THIS IS HIS OFFSPRING.
LOL, might as well bury the guy since if it all works out, he will never set foot in Arena Mexico again.
Hopefully they just keep him under the Magnus name, gotta admit his dive was really nice.
Lots of fun teams in the this National block Ephesto and Stuka is cool, but I also really like the Volador-Diamante combo.
CMLL TV has #3, #5 and #6 from the 2/4 show.
They aired the Peq Maximo/Periquito skit. Total swerve.
Amazing first fall!
UNREAL setup by Angel De Oro into his finisher! Excellent match so far.
Fantastic match! Everyone should watch when it hits youtube!
Looks like 52MX is giving the whole hour to the minis cibernetico. The top 2 aired on Fox Sports.
@thecubsfan: That’s great news! The last time a Torneo got the entire hour it was probly the best 52MX match of the year.
You know that could mean that Magnus is the son of Tony Salazar.
Also SuperLuchas lists Magnus’ team as winning, which makes more sense if they are trying to “Mistico” him
They’re right on the finish. Could’ve sworn I fixed that. Cometa picked up the pin (because that was right after Magnus’ dive.)
Magnus has his own t-shirt
That’s what I said!
CMLL LATV has first two from 01/21
Leono & Molotov b Disturbio & Zayco
Ángel Azteca Jr., Dragon Lee, Rey Cometa b Hijo del Signo, Loco Max, Skándalo
Dragon Lee’s a repeat from CMLL TV.
LATV from 1/21 opener and angel azteca match
So the only stuff from 1/21 that will never make TV (until TFN a year from now?) is the Polvora/Sangre debacle and the MAIN EVENT! How about that?
So is Dragon Lee trying to be a Dragon Rojo clone? They look like twins.
The Zayco match was pretty good. Molotov did a great dive in the first fall.
Opener on C3. YAY Bronco and Enrique Vera Jr.
ACM has:
Dangerous, Estrella Dorada Jr., Veneno Extremo b Diluvio Negro II, Hijo del Ninja, Máscara Púrpura from 2/6
Hey, Shocker’s been reinstated to the GDL announce team. Or they’re airing a really old rerun.
01/04
3) Aereo, Pequeño Halcón, Último Dragoncito b Mercurio, Pequeño Olímpico, Pequeño Universo 2000
4) Shigeo Okumura, Vangelis, Yoshihashi b Delta, Fuego, Stuka Jr.
and 01/11
3) Mr. Trueno & Rey Trueno b Puma King & Tiger Kid
AAA started with the Sugi/Ronin mixed tag so gotta wait a week to see Atomic Boy again.
As with any debut, I believe in the benefit of the doubt. And as well as the other debuts of this 2011, there will be plenty of Magnus to see and then assess.
@conjuarez – I agree. With the way this whole Mistico situation has seemingly caught CMLL offguard, and considering Mistico & Magnus appear to be legit related, who knows what plans they had to scrap. Maybe Magnus was supposed to be brought in as a brother of Mistico or something and now he is kinda treading water… can’t blame that on the Wrestler….
I wonder if CMLL committed to some licensing agreements(video, toys, shirts) which might force them to have a Mistico?
It’s obvious with the debut of Magnus this soon, CMLL is panicking over Mistico leaving. With Mistico gone. there is not really any tecnicos at the moment to take Mistico’s spot. Possibly La Sombra & Mascara Dorada, but not now. Sombra will be ready within a year if pushed properly, & Dorada needs to take time off due to nagging injuries. However I have a feeling we will also see the return of guys, CMLL would never consider returning to the promotion unless they were in dire straits (which they may be we don’t know).
@thecubsfan: I wonder what mask design is on the mask? The old Magnus or the new one?
