CMLL Guadalajara on Teleformula #25 (12/12/2010)

Arena Coliseo Guadalajara, 11/16/2010

by posting this gif, more people will see this bit than were there live

Mascarita Dorada, Meteoro, Shockercito vs In Memoriam, Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Warrior: Meteoro and In Memoriam were locals as last minute replacements, and sadly did not prove themselves ready for the opportunity. This was the minis equivalent of all those women’s trios where Marcela & Amapola have a great sequence and then Lluvia and Zeuxis do not, though I think the women are generally better than this. There still were four good guys here having a good match on their own.

Máximo, Rush, Sagrado vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Héctor Garza, Taichi: Usually Maximo match of wackiness. Alright for that, though you’ve probably seen it.

Comando Negro wins (again), many links

Black Terry Jr.

IWRG (THU) 01/13 Arena Naucalpan [Black Terry Jr. @ flickr, Estrellas del Ring]
1) Epidemia & Imposible b Héros & Mascarita de Oro
2) Eragon & Flama Infernal b Carta Brava Jr. & Guerrero 2000
3) Black Terry & Keshin Black b El Hijo del Diablo & Muerte Infernal [Torneo Proyeccion, quarterfinal]
4) Multifacético & Trauma I b Alan Extreme & Chico Che [Torneo Proyeccion, quarterfinal]
5) Dinamic Black & Negro Navarro b Hammer & Hijo de Pirata Morgan [Torneo Proyeccion, quarterfinal]
6) Comando Negro & Scorpio Jr. b Eterno & Veneno [Torneo Proyeccion, quarterfinal]
7) Multifacético & Trauma I b Black Terry & Keshin Black [Torneo Proyeccion, semifinal]
8) Comando Negro & Scorpio Jr. b Dinamic Black & Negro Navarro [Torneo Proyeccion, semifinal]
9) Comando Negro & Scorpio Jr. b Multifacético & Trauma I [Torneo Proyeccion, final]

The full name of the tournament was “Torneo Relámpago de Proyección a Nuevas Promesas de la Lucha Libre”, but you can just think of it as IWRG doing the Gran Alternativa bit. Comando Negro continues his winning ways. Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. was supposed to be his partner, Scorpio Jr. filled in, and they won anyway. In the final, Comando took out Multifacetico with a dive and Scorpio snuck in a foul on Trauma. They got past the Eterno/Veneno team similarly.

Black Terry challenged the Gringos for a title match after beating Diablo in the quarter final.

Tonight’s CMLL show is highlighted by Mephisto vs Hijo del Fantasma for the NWA Historic Welterweight Championship. Not really sure who’s going to win – leaning towards Fantasma winning the title about a year after he lost the CMLL version – but we’re watching more to see if they’re continuing on towards a mask match or if this will just be the end point for the time being. Main event should be a crowd pleasing comedy match and the lighting match (Dark Angel vs Princesa Sujei) might be a preview of Tuesday’s cibernetico final.

CMLL sent out PR to hype Generacion 2011. All this really has to offer is much better pictures for profiles, but three quick points

  • Luchas 2000 is not official CMLL PR, I guess.
  • Everyone seems to be from Arkangel’s current class.
  • Typical CMLL lack of co-ordination to also debut Metal Blanco & Palacio Negro and NOT include them in this group. They really could’ve brought the average up. (Meteoro Mercurio is also new, not sure about the last part.)

Also, the new trios champions talk. Rush is happy to have won with his two best friends!

The newest Slammin Stan’ is up at Talkshoe. Update your RSS feed.

Domo de la Feria Leon, 11/22/2010 – here’s where I tried to do shorter recaps. Never lasts.

moonsault

Jennifer Blake, Kayuga, Oyuki vs Cinthia Moreno, Fabi Apache, Mari Apache – Kayuga & Oyuki were a lot of fun while they were here. It seems like they went home during the holidays and who knows if they’ll come back (which would be troubling since they had the Apaches belts and all) but they pretty easily had the best women’s matches while they were here.

Octagoncito vs Mini Chessman, Mascarita Divina, Mini Psicosis, Mini Charly Manson, Mini Histeria for the AAA World Minis Championship – like I say in the recap, this just felt like someone was bored with doing minis trios and tried to do something else, and ended up with something far less good. Then again, maybe if they do this match only for five years straight, they’d get good at it.

Aerostar & El Elegido vs Alan Stone & Chris Stone in a lumberjack rules match – crowd is always into lumberjacks strapping people but it doesn’t work as well on TV. I’m really not sure if Aero took a planned fall and the cameras missed it, or if Aero blew something badly and they clipped it out. It never went anywhere, which doesn’t really answer either question.

Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown vs Damián 666, Halloween, X-Fly – they figured out they couldn’t do a finish here only after they booked the match. Oh well. This is actually where they should’ve brought in, like Ragde, Pesadilla and Cosmico, and had the Clowns squash the Perros midcarders AND run off these three when they try to run in post match, just to make it seem like the Perros are in for a world of trouble when they get in the cage. (I think I just made the argument they didn’t book the undefeated team strong enough. Something is wrong here.)

El Mesías, Jack Evans, La Parka vs LA Park, Silver King, Último Gladiador – This was a match just to have a match before the Bizarros stuff. It was a match.

2010 Lucha Libre Win/Loss Records

Checking off end of year stuff to do. There’s something else I’m forgetting…

I recorded 2,564 shows this year, up from 2,356 from last year.

Most Matches

2008: Ultimo Guerrero (228)
2009: La Parka Jr. (211)

204	Místico (top CMLL)
188	La Parka Jr. (top AAA)
184	La Máscara
180	La Sombra
175	Último Guerrero
157	Volador Jr.
153	Silver King
153	Atlantis
151	Brazo de Plata
151	Averno

Sombra’s matches do not include his matches in Japan, which push him to second. Mascara Dorada just missed the list at 150.

Top in IWRG: Dr. Cerbero (97). Eterno has more, but it only points out there’s multiple Eternos.
Top in GDL: Metal Blanco (50) or Astaroth (49) if you don’t count the DF matches for Blanco
Top in Puebla: Black Tiger (26)

Fray Tormenta wins a hair match, Pirata Morgan, women’s cibernetico

If you like Black Terry Jr.’s videos, he’s looking for you to click on Like on them. Thanks.

indy (TUE) 01/11 Arena Aficion [Estrellas del Ring]
1) Aracnido & Nino Tormenta b Caribe King & Kyozer
2) Sexy Lady b Ludark
3) Maldito Jr. & Samot b Big Boy & Super Brazo
4) Bugambilia L Fray Tormenta and Super Crazy and X-Fly and Bestia 666 and Boy Danger [hair]

Fray Tormenta picked up a hair. He and Bugambilia were both down on a bridging pin in the third fall, but Tormenta evidently got a shoulder up. El Siglo de Hidalgo has a good bio of Tormenta.

As the Perros indicated, AAA’s taping 01/27 in Toluca.

Mi Lucha Libre vists Pirata Morgan’s lucha libre classes. He’s got four students, including the new Monsther. Unsurprisingly, Pirata is a hard teacher and scares many students off, but those that last have to wrestle up to his standards.

Shocker wants a singles match with Ultimo Guerrero when he returns, for knocking him off the stretcher and stomping him after Shocker was already hurt. Shocker is thankful the injury is to leg, and not to his face. (Article calls UG Ultimo Dragon in the first reference; oops.) He’s still out for 3 to 4 months.

In matches I keep forgetting to write about here: Mr. Aguila rematches Rey Bucanero at PWG’s Kurt Russellreunion 2. The show is January 29th, in LA.

Lineups

CMLL (TUE) 01/18 Arena Mexico
1) Camaleón & Freesbe vs Apocalipsis & Cholo
2) Dark Angel vs Estrellita, Marcela, Tiffany, Luna Mágica, Princesa Blanca, Lluvia, Zeuxis, La Comandante, Dalys la Caribeña, Princesa Sujei, Mima Shimoda, Goya Kong, La Seductora [#1 Contenders, CMLL WOMEN]
3) Ángel de Oro, Fuego, Sagrado vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Vangelis
4) La Sombra, Máscara Dorada, Místico vs Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero

Amapola is in need of a challenger, so the winner of the cibernetico will get a shot next week. Cesar ranks the chances of everyone in the match. There are people in this match who would have a good match and Amapola is great, but Dark Angel is about three years overdue in winning the title and they might as well win it now. CMLL is loving same side matchups lately, so maybe it’ll be Sujei or Blanca in a champion vs champion match instead.

Super X (MON) 01/31 Deportivo Las Aguilas
1) Astro Boy, Sucesor, Voltron vs Dr. Karonte, Luzbell, Tanque Infernal
2) Mosco de la Merced, Mr. Cóndor, Pentagon vs Chico Che, Oriental, Torero
3) Fuerza Guerrera, Juventud Guerrera, Veneno vs El Dandy, Máscara Sagrada, Solar I

Fuerza & Juvi’s promotion is back, to promote a new lucha libre school Juvi’s opening.
