Lucha Libre USA, CMLL HD, notes

Another short article about the 01/20 Lucha Libre USA show at San Manuel Indian Casino gives me a nice chance for a correction: I’m told this is NOT a taping, just an extra show, and the plan to tape in Albuquerque is still the plan.

Ex-WWE current ROH announcer Kevin Kelly is now doing announcing for this group, and mentioned on Figure Four Daily that he believed Masked Warriors would be airing in late January on MTV2. Not sure on the date.

A twitter account says CMLL will start airing in HD next weekend. That’s the main show on Televisa. It seems to me like the MVS weekend shows are ready to go that way, though I have doubts I’ll be able to receive a 52MX HD any time soon.

In Juarez, Hijo de Super Angel was getting confused with Super Angel Jr., so he changed his name to Asbeel. More people need to do this. An area promotion also lost the building they were running in to a change in ownership.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update and this week’s Ras de Lona.

Lineups

CMLL (MON) 01/10 Arena Puebla
1) Asturiano, Black Tiger, Lestat vs Espiritu Maligno, King Jaguar, Siki Osama
2) Fabián el Gitano, Leono, Trueno vs Bronco, Puma King, Tiger Kid
3) Delta, Diamante, Stuka Jr. vs Arkángel de la Muerte, Nitro, Skándalo
4) Blue Panther, Máscara Dorada, Máximo vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
5) Místico vs Negro Casas

Non-title main event off a couple weeks of feuding.

King Jaguar has been a tecnico up to now, but hasn’t been here since November. Maybe he turned on one of Tigre Rojo’s shows? Perhaps another old guy is setting up to lose a mask?

  1. After the Psycho Circus trained the kids they have better of grabbed a few and placed them in burlap sacks like back in the good ole days

  2. I’m glad CMLL is now in HD. Two years ago Konnan TALKED about doing AAA in HD. CMLL didn’t talk about it, they’re actually doing it. Konnan likes to claim that he’s more modern than CMLL, and now look who’s ahead of the game.

  3. @Daniel: I think CMLL has been in HD for some time, but only now are they making a big deal about it because someone probably told them about it.
