Surprise! Averno takes this block, setting up an all rudo final for next Saturday. Averno found the magic formula to beat his long time nemesis: three straight Devil’s Wings. He was not messing around. As required by law, Averno made the mask vs mask challenge after the match. They’re about two weeks away from feuding for six consecutive years. This is the first time Averno has beaten Mistico in an Arena Mexico singles matches since November of 2007 (when Averno won back the NWA Middleweight Championship), though that mostly because they’ve had a lot less singles matches the last three years.
Cesar says this tournament was not near as good as last week’s, with Negro Casas matches being notably poor. His matches with both Angel de Oro and Mistico were absurdly short, and his match with Texano was not much good. There also seemed to be a screw up in the seeding battle royal. Rotoporky went out first, then Angel de Oro & Texano went out at the same time. It looked live like Angel de Oro was eliminated first, but CMLL ignored it to do the usual rudo/tecnico match.
Mistico/Misterioso sounds like it was the best tournament match. It was Misterioso’s first and only singles match in a major arena this year, and it sounds like he took advantage of it. The move of the night might have been Mistico using the camel clutch to beat Hector Garza. Merry Christmas, Santo.
Main event was a tecnico win without incident. Also, without Tirantes. Monito was with Shocker here, then joined some other guys in heading out to the burbs to an Arena Neza show. That show seems to have drawn the same amount as always for CMLL in that building, despite Latin O. being in the main event.

Ras de Lona has the top two matches (with “Winner of Second Block” in place of Averno), which indicates Mistico (adn Texano!) losing wasn’t a last minute change of plans.
Tercera combines the Mephisto/Fantasma and Sangre Azteca/The World issues.

Really happy to hear Misterioso stole the show, hopefully this leads to something for him.Maybe he can get his three way mask match with his old Poder partners he’s been requesting.
I think the whole show looks good and besides the Misterioso match I am looking forward to the final alot.
no ones watching lucha?
52MX has the expected matches.
Women open up GDL. BOO
Luchadors are appearing on the dating show 12 Corazones on mun2 right now. They appear to be California based guys, the only one I recognize is Dr. Maldad.
Tecnicos are made up of Juventud Azteca, Huesos, Mecanico, & Black Spiderman
Rudoes are Dr. Maldad, Hades, Porky (not Brazo de Plata,), & Nightmare.
In between the elimination segments where the males & females are voted off the show, the luchadors wrestle short matches. Of the luchadors featured, Dr. Maldad is the only guy to really impress with his wrestling. He’s a very agile fat guy.
Wow new episode of ACM with
DURANGO KID DIFUNTO II Y VENENO EXTREMO vs SIMBOLO HORUS Y DILUVIO NEGRO II
Ah man they played the second and third fall before the first. That’s WCW thunder type editing.
Ok, so I read this blog but don’t actually watch a lot of lucha. It seems at the start of the year Mistico was getting boos as a technico and they wanted to do a Mistico/Volador feud, so they turned Mistico rudo. They’ve kept the feud going for the whole year, but Mistico and Volador flipped sides, why did they do this? Does Mistico still get booed at Arena Mexico?
@mysterious_w: They never really explained why they did the flip – someone got cold feet about the whole thing. And he still gets booed.
@Flashmagic: Dr. Maldad is probably the best rudo in SoCal lucha right now and its not close. He’s my favorite local luchador right now.
Shit, El Mecanico told me had some tapes like 8 years ago and I never heard back from him. Good to know he’s still around.
It appears the episode is online where it can be viewed via stream on mun2’s website.

ECLL is becoming the new CMLL on LATV, Rerun!!
Got a response from a friend that went to the CMLL show in Juarez last night, and said that all the CMLL guys did was just mess around, and didnt take the match seriously, must be nice to just show up, and make easy money….
@Albert: Hello Albert, I went to that same show.
I have to agree in the sense that their performance was not at the same level as Arena México or Coliseo.
I do not know if your friend also told you that the show started more than one hour later, that theirs was the sixth match and that La Sombra and Blue Panther were replaced so it was:
Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara & Negro Casas vs Atlantis, Averno & Héctor Garza.
@conjuarez: @conjuarez: Yeah, did not hear about the replacements, and yeah, these shows in juarez never seem to start on time. Any annnouncements on when the next show might be?
@Albert:
No, unfortunately not.
