Friday lineup change, Rayo/Dinamitas, IWRG

New Friday Arena Mexico main event:

4) Latin ♥, Místico, Strong Man vs Héctor Garza, Mr. Águila, Terrible

By pulling UG with Charly, perhaps they were heading to a title match between the two of them? Or maybe UG just is off to celebrate Santos win? (Edit: no, no he’s probably not. Sorry!) I actually thought CMLL should’ve had Charly or someone win a CMLL title earlier, so I guess it is possible they could’ve. That’s an odd way to spell Latin-OH! but I guess he is sticking around (now.)

Beyond the in-ring storylines of last night, there’s a lot of talk about the in-seat storyline. As in: not many people in those seats. Other sections are a lot more full*, and give the impression that AAA (and/or local promoters) knew well in advance they were not selling out the building, just tried to sell as few sections as possible, and packed people together to make it look better. The show went up against the second leg of Mexico’s soccer league’s final, which would’ve been known well in advance (and no area team was involved.) AAA hasn’t been in Zapopan since June**, a good distance between shows.

Black Terry Jr. has a lot more pictures, including the New Bizarros (Charly wore his gear with the Invasors symbol!), LA Park wearing the Hijo de Cien Caras mask, Super Fly in black, and Perro Jr. in a clown outfit.

* Note that second picture is of Electroshock, who ran in the ladder match to attack everyone.
**though that was the show where I needed to make a diagram to figure out the run-ins.

CMLL (SUN) 12/05 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Ángel del Mal, Puma King, Tiger Kid b Black Metal, Horus, Palacio Negro
2) La Comandante, Mima Shimoda, Princesa Blanca b Goya Kong, Lluvia, Silueta
3) Fuego, Metro, Stuka Jr. b Escorpion, Pólvora, Semental
4) Rush, Shocker, Strong Man b El Alebrije, Olímpico, Psicosis
5) Rayo de Jalisco Jr. b Universo 2000

Rayo, wearing the WWA belt as always, was honored for 35 years of wrestling. Among though there to honor him: Rayman (called his son) & Cien Caras. Cien Caras was also there to blatantly interfere in the main event. Cien brought out the guitar to kabong his long time rival, but ended up getting his brother Universo instead. Rayo finished Universo off for the win. Good turnout for this show – there’s usually never anyone in the upper deck, but there were a few stragglers for Rayo. Rayo showing up once every six months here (whenever AAA runs in nearby Zapopan, surely) probably will continue to work.

Shocker replaced Mascara Dorada. Dorada missed Friday’s show too – maybe they’re giving him some off? He’s earned it.

Tiger Kid & Palacio Negro might have been feuding in the opener, which gives me 500 ideas for matches that won’t happen.

Satanico, after yelling at a person he will not name on a radio show he will not specify (but sure appears to be Apolo Dantes) for many paragraphs, says he’s planning on sending six guys from Guadalajra to Mexico City next year. If you’re paying attention to GDL results, pause for a moment, think about it, and I bet you name six of them. It’s who you should expect: Rey Trueno, Mr. Trueno, Malefico, Gallo, Metal Blanco, and Palacio Negro, the non-old guys who’ve been focused on here. If they’re not ready to go, Black Metal may replace one of them. No word on when they might be going, or for how long or anything else that might considered a detail.

IWRG (THU) 12/02 Arena Naucalpan [Al Filo del Ring]
2) Cerebro Negro, Chico Che, Dr. Cerebro b Bombero Infernal, Maldito Jr., Samot
3) Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro, Tóxico DF b Bobby Lee Jr., el Ángel, El Hijo de Aníbal, Veneno
4) Máscara Año 2000 & Máscara Año 2000 Jr. b Fuerza Guerrera & Juventud Guerrera and Hijo del Pantera & Pantera and Hijo del Solar & Solar I and Negro Navarro & Trauma I

Main event was one match, not 2, and no pirates in the match. Same bit where the eliminated son was replaced by his father. Hijo del Solar made his IWRG debut here and was first out. Final was Mascara 2000 defeating Negro Navarro. Hijo del Pirata Morgan and the Navarros attacked Mascara after the match to continue those hostilities.

No new Oficial – Toxico took his spot. Anibal & Veneno did not get along, and their team loss.

Mascara Ano 2000 Sr. talks about his deceased ‘nephew’ in the link above. Hijo del Anibal talks about the passing of his frequent rival here.

Mi Lucha Libre says the Psycho Clowns won “more than 800 matches.” Of all the time to forget to make up a number. They should’ve just gone with 999.

  1. Happy to see Latin back and facing Garza.

The rudo team from the tercera on 12/5 looks great, any Semental and Escorpion pairing are perfect.

Palacio Negro in Mexico City sounds great.

  2. I see Laredo Kid is in the main event of ACM this Sunday. Is he basically done with AAA? I know he still does spot shows.

  3. I think AAA was in Zapopan in October for the fair. Looks like about 4,000 fans in the building.

  4. These old timers bring these belts out to the ring with them. Where are they from! Nwa., wwa, international etc etc etc?? Everyone comes out with a belt it seems for decoration or something. Little pathetic. In fact I saw zumbido wearing a belt to the ring which was store bought and said ECW on it? Ridiculous

  5. This Physco clown gimmick with 900 straight wins or something is a bit idiotic in my opinion. The clowns aren’t over and not a draw at all. Goldberg won like 150 times in a row or something. And then he lost. Then what? He was human again and was never the same. And he was mega over(Georgia dome 25000-30000 people!!) the clowns aren’t over. They are getting mega pushed because aaa doesn’t pay them much. That is how aaa treats their people. ” we will push you if you take a paycut!” chessman “Rey de Reyes”, clowns 900 straight wins, alex Koslov as well before he finally had chance to leave aaa hellhole. Their production is horrible and nobody on that roster besides a few has a wwe, tna, or roh workrate. Very sloppy. A shame the great Tony Pena passed

  6. @Tim: Laredo kid unfortunately has no carisma. Wonderful moves but boring as all hell. 0 connection with the fans and if he is not doing something potentially dangerous to his body in a match nobody really cares it seems

  7. @DragonGateFan: Latin lover is going to be booed in arena Mexico on a regular basis. The dance gimmick is dead and rejected in arena Mexico. Hector garza will eat his lunch with total crowd support. That is one cmll problem. They force latin lovers and mistico down peoples throats as tecnicos and they are booed against rudos like Negro casas and Hector garza. A bit backwards, going against the grain dont you think?

  8. @Anonymous:

Latin may not be liked by everyone in the crowd and Mistico either but I think that adds to the match. There’s always a section of people that will cheer the good guys even when their chants are nowhere near the cheers for the rudos, but it helps create a cool atmosphere.

  9. There were no fans in the crowd because nobody in Mexico wants to watch the aaa crap. They would rather watch wwe. Wwe has nearly squashed cmll and aaa. Look at ratings!! Wont be long til Vince has a territory going in Mexico and will mock what aaa and cmll have going on in Mexico. Maybe soon this will be the wwelatinoblog.com . Mexican companies take cover

  10. @DragonGateFan: I agree I agree but how much more interesting would it be a packed arena Mexico where it isn’t backwards? I don’t know it just seems to me like it’s always backwards. Perros del mal were a rudo team that would be treated as tecnicos so when they faced teams like shocker, bucanero, and let’s say sombra or other tecnico, they would get booed and their lunch eaten. I think the tecnicos in arena Mex need to get some more balls and wrestle a little more aggressive and if they see a team or individual as a rudo getting over, book it more careful. If the fans are going to cheer the rudo, make them tecnicos or put them against tecnicos that will fire back with aggression to win the fans. Poor fantasma jr poor sagrada poor shocker etc etc they need to change to rudo or something because these rudos are murdering them in crowd support in the arena. I agree arena Mexico is unique in this way but the tecnicos come across as wimps

  11. @DragonGateFan: But I see ur point arena Mex is pretty cool in that way. Great atmosphere but I cringe when the rudos kick the tecnicos around for 2 falls nearly and all of the sudden a big tecnico comeback which is usually filled with boos. You can here them. End of second fall and tecnicos getting hands raised to a harmony of boos. Of course there are exceptions. Blue panther always had fire and good fan support. Marco Corleone was strong and over and back when Negro casas was tecnico, he was over.

  12. I think the booing of tecnicos is a byproduct of two things.

First, as explained by yall above, CMLL has kinda failed to clearly define tecnicos and rudos. Many of the tecnicos are of similar gimmick and style, and are thus interchangeable. Most of the rudos are experienced and work strongly as that, but also play into the cheers, which should be a no-no.

The second problem is that the WWE is popular, and the “Attitude” style has the faces working as a heel and acting like a heel, but being booked like a face and getting cheered like a face. Thus, the fans somewhat apply the same idea to lucha. Thus, we have that 1997 “shades of gray” BS that ruins wrestling.

  13. “if they see a team or individual as a rudo getting over, book it more careful.”

Panico would like to know how one would go about it “booking” something? THE HAT has never failed.

It should be clearly obvious the men in charge of CMLL rarely (if ever) book anything at all. If they do put some thought into something it’s usually just a big match in a week or two. I’ve got all the respect in the world but to be perfectly honest… they’re old men who really aren’t smart enough to do real pro wrestling booking. They’re all lazy too. It’s a horrible combination. The facts are the facts. Rudos cut promos on each other b/c nobody knows what the office wants them to do. Tecnicos form their own groups in interviews b/c they don’t think the office will bother to do it themelves.

Everyone knows CMLL lucked into Mistico. The product was stale, the fans wanted their version of Rey Jr. and thus Mistico caught on. The bookers just rode the wave. The first time they were met with a challenge (houses coming down/Mistico getting boo’ed) was when Perrito caught fire as Mistico’s arch rival and they screwed it up by having Perrito beat Mistico clean, never following up on it and being too cheap to spend Alonso’s dollars on Perrito’s hair.

The in-ring style may have changed to the point you can’t call what you see on TV any more the “serious and stable” but that certainly still applies to the booking style. And I don’t see things changing b/c there is no young blood being added to the creative side and even if someone sorta young does manage to sneak in, he’s just a family member of one of the existing bookers so everything he knows is from them.

“A shame the great Tony Pena passed”

Lucha Libre right now needs another Pena. Someone who is a visionary and has the guts to try new things.

  14. @Anonymous
I don’t know why you think Latin Lover will get booed? The first three times he has appeared on CMLL TV he got cheered. I know that the “reports” say he got booed in Arena Mexico but the fact is that his match never aired on TV so unless you were in the Arena you don’t know if that’s even true. Regardless, if it’s a heel audience they’ll boo the technicos no matter what. Mistoco got booed but he’s till going strong as a technico.

Speaking of airing on TV this time his match better air. I mean you have a team of Latin Lover, Mistico, and Strongman, with Hector Garza on the other side. You would have to be stupid to not air that match.

  15. @Daniel: Go to radiocmll.com, load the video of the “semi” and you can hear exactly what the “reports” were refering to. Although I’m sure you’ll hear something completely different since you are one crazy fuck after all…

  16. @Daniel: I was in Arena México and Latin♥ was definitely booed, which as Rob mentions you can hear also on radiocmlll.com.

  17. I just watched the video clip. I did hear booing but there was more than one guy in the ring while the booing was going on. Notice how the CHEERED aftet Latin Lover pinned Hector Garza, and they cheered the technico celebration.

  18. @tromataker: Hey if my keyboard had a Heart logo I’d insert it instead of Lover. But since I don’t have it, I’ll call him Latin Lover because that’s who he is and if Dorian Roldan’ doesn’t like hit, he can screw off.
