Perros in Tijuana, Atlantis outsmarts Invasors, CMLL > ROH

PdM (SAT) 11/06 Auditorio de Tijuana [KrisZ, Espaldas Planas, The War]
1) Nikki & Miss Jackie b Christina Von Eerie & Jennifer Blake
2) Bestia 666 & X-Fly b Extreme Tiger & Jack Evans
3) Damián 666, Halloween, Konnan b Charly Haas, Super Crazy, Tony Wilson
4) Blue Demon Jr., Booker T, El Mesías b Big Daddy V, Hernandez, Shelton Benjamin

Perro Aguayo’s absence from this show was announced ahead of time. Dr. Wagner’s was not. (Perros del Mal facebook calls him a diva.) He was roundabout replaced by random person Tony Wilson. Super Crazy remembered he was part of Los Perros and turned on Haas to set up the finish in the semimain. Booker pinned Shelton Benjamin in the main event.

Edit: It was Nikki in the opener.

The Espaldas Planas recap is down on the whole show, except for the Tiger match. They say the attendance was around 1,500, while KrisZ has it around 4,000.

There’s video of this show starting here.

high kick/CMLL

CMLL (TUE) 11/09 Arena Mexico [CMLL]
1) Camorra & Zayco b Camaleón & Principe
2) Bronco, Durango Kid, Hooligan b Guerrero Maya Jr., Metálico, Metatrón
3) Ángel Azteca Jr., Fuego, Rush DQ Nosferatu, Pólvora, Virus
4) Brazo de Plata, Metro, Toscano b Misterioso II, Texano, Vangelis
5) Atlantis, Averno, Ephesto b Charly Manson, El Alebrije, Psicosis

Atlantis took the win on Psicosis in the main event with a handful of ropes.

Misterioso replaced Terrible. More on that below. Clean tecnico win.

Polvora, perhaps aware his guys were feuding with someone on the tecnico side but not quite clear on which one, fouled Rush for a DQ loss in straight falls. Those two may now be feuding.

Terrible is out three weeks with an ankle injury. He suffered in the NJPW tournament, but didn’t really get it checked on so he wouldn’t miss shows. “My decision was to continue at the expense of anything.” The CMLL press release mentions he and Texano had issues about the ‘light’ drugs Terrible was using to numb the pain. Terrible will be in a walking boot for 3 weeks.

The article also off hand mentions Pegasso will be out 3 weeks with a knee injury. He hasn’t been in the ring since 10/29 (where he was carted off after suffering the injury), but I’m not sure if that two weeks is included in the injury assessment or not.

CMLL in NJPW
11/10: Sombra & Mascara Dorada b Davey Richards & Rocky Romero [Sombra “avalnche-style blockbuster” – looks like a middle rope flipping powerslam? – Romero] – finally, we know who would’ve won in a Sombra/Grey Shadow battle.

Prince Devitt missed the show with an injury. If he’s out for the remainder of the tournament and his team has to forfeit out, then Sombra/Dorada must win tomorrow’s match vs Nosawa & Fujita tomorrow to have  a chance to advance. They’re really going to need that win either way to have a shot, and I think it’s a match they should win.

The real news here is Sombra & Dorada are using neat masks.

top six stories of the last two weeks

1) Rough two weeks for Perro Aguayo Junior: the Perros del Mal show in Cuautitlan was canceled at the last minute, Perrito appeared under the influence on the Tlalnepantla TV taping, and he underwent knee surgery. The knee surgery is surely legitimate, but it’s also a pretty easy cover story for his recent behavior.

2) Rough two weeks for the Invasors: lost title matches for the Women’s and Tag Titles, and lost the tag team titles to Dragon Rojo & Ultimo Guerrero. Mr. Aguila won a cibernetico, but only after it was clear he should’ve been given the loss and was the lesser men. It’s inconceivable any of them will be main eventing a major show. At least one that hopes to draw.

3) Good week for Cibernetico. Despite not actually winning, he assembled four Bizarros: Taboo, Scoria, Amadeus, and Nygma. At some point, they may actually even have a match (right after the Skull Mask guy.)

4) Lucha Libre USA announced an actual season 2, with taping starting on 12/12 and airing still TBD.

5) Lucha Libre Premier announced an actual season 2. They’re actually airing already.

6) Zorro beat Nicho for his hair in a non-TV match.

Other stuff
– Mephisto landed on his head, and will be on bed rest for a week. Terrible & Pegasso are also out of action.
– Arlequin Negro lost his mask.
– AAA & CMLL wrestlers were (and are) in Japan tournaments. Extreme Tiger/Jack Evans have done the best, making it to the semifinals
– Guerra de Titanes will be on 12/05 in Zapopan.
– El Illegal debuted for AAA.

2010 AAA TV Recap
Projected Air Date (#964)
Mexico: 11/21
US: 12/04

No Bizarros. No Perros either.

The original lineup lists the opposition in the opener as Local Luchadors, but a follow up post today gives the Cerebros and Chico Che. Hooray for them.

The third match will have special rules from Konnan and Dorian, besides the mystery man. El Illegal will make sense.

I’m thinking the Stones & Ultimo Gladiador will not be the trio to end the streak.

Maybe the main event will set up a title match for Guerra de Titanes? They could use one.

CMLL Guerreros del Ring on 52MX #258 (10/30/2010)

Arena Coliseo, 10/24/2010

Fuego's tough to describe finish

Guerrero Maya Jr., Leono, Molotov vs Bronco, Camorra, Inquisidor – First Camorra match I’ve seen? He’s OK. Bronco doesn’t do enough big guy stuff for a guy so much taller than everyone he’s usually facing – he works as every other rudo does a lot. He does do the big top rope missed splash seemingly every match, which is probably not a good idea. I hope for the day where the give Guerrero Maya something to do.

Fuego & Stuka Jr. vs Delta & Diamante for the Arena Coliseo (DF) Tag Team Championship – this was actually worse than the tournament final from last week, but that’s more on Delta/Diamante being wildly inconsistent than anything particularly with Fuego & Stuka. It’s a weird CMLL thing where rudos vs rudos matches are (sometimes) allowed to have one side work as tecnicos for a night, but they never let a tecnico team be a bit rudo-ish, which might have made this a bit more interesting.

AAA on Televisa #962 (10/30/2010)

Centro de Convenciones, Ciudad de Madero, Tamaulipas, 10/01/2010

oops

Dr. Wagner Jr. vs Silver Kain for the AAA World Heavyweight Championship: Dr. Wagner and Silver King can’t do a long singles match in 2010 without both of them reaching into the crowd for chairs within in the first two minutes. Great for them for getting paid, could care less about this.

Joe Lider & Nicho el Millionario vs Damián 666, Halloween, Konnan in a hardcore rules match: I mean, if you’re going to do it, do it completely insane. There were parts of this not very good, enough for gifs for days, but they definitely did the match they wanted to do. If the idea is still to do matches you won’t see on WWE TV, you definitely won’t see this on WWE TV.

oops #2

Cibernético, Heavy Metal, La Parka Jr., Octagón vs Electroshock, Hernandez, LA Park, Zorro in a cage match (part 2) – I felt this was actually sort of better then it’s parts, and I’m not sure I can actually justify why. They got the big ideas over by the end – AAA won thanks to Cibernetico & Cibernetico is reforming the Bizarros. (And Cibernetico’s back to being the center of the promotion for the first time in a couple years.) There were just a lot of holes and issues: why did Ozz & Cuervo run-in (actually explained next week), why did Cibernetico not come out the first time (never really explained), why does someone think we want to see Heavy Metal vs Electroshock for large amounts of time (Metal’s injury seems to have fixed this, for now.) Cuervo & Ozz’s appearance came off as meaning little and seemed like it would fit better with some actual tecnicos (make Aerostar by having him win a hair and get in the cage match) but they did redeem that the following week.

I don’t know the match was any good, but it made sense and that’s above expectations.

Psycho Circus win one more, Mephisto, Black Warrior

IWRG (SUN) 11/07 Arena Naucalpan [The Gladiatores]
1) Epidemia & Keshin Black b Guizmo & Super Halcon Jr.
2) Dinamic Black & Eragon b Alan Extreme & Centurión
3) Comando Negro, Guerrero Negro, Magia Negra b Chico Che, el Ángel, Freelance
4) Hijo de Pirata Morgan & Pirata Morgan b Hijo del Cien Caras & Máscara Año 2000 Jr.
5) Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown DQ El Hijo de Aníbal, Gran Markus Jr., Veneno

Gran Markus thought he had ended the streak with a submission on Monster Clown, but he had accidentally bumped the referee before, and he awoke to call the DQ.

Piratas won in straight falls, and asked for a title match and an apuesta match. They’ll get one of those next week.

Comando Negro, the it guy of the IWRG moment, snuck in a foul on Angel to continue his winning ways.

Mephisto was still in the hospital on Monday, though scheduled to be released today. He suffered from cerebral swelling, dizziness and temporary lost of consciousness (so, basically a strong concussion) and will be out at least a week. Atlantis takes his place on today’s Arena Mexico card.

Box Y Lucha#2999 has nearly 2999 different headlines on it’s cover, but the most amusing to me is Black Warrior wanting to come back to CMLL. He seemed like a guy who wasn’t interested in being CMLL at all the last six months he was there, but hasn’t shown up much on indy lineups since the Perros started with AAA. They also have a video interview with Lady Apache.

CMLL in NJPW
11/09: [SJ Block A] Jushin Liger & El Samurai b La Sombra & Mascara Dorada [Liger brainbuster Dorada]

Rest of the schedule:
11/10: [SJ Block A] Davey Richards & Rocky Romero vs La Sombra & Mascara Dorada
11/11: [SJ Block A] Nosawa & Fujita vs La Sombra & Mascara Dorada
11/12: Wataru Inoue, Tomoaki Honma, La Sombra, Mascara Dorada vs No Limit & Jado & Gedo
11/13: [SJ Block A] Prince Devitt & Taguchi vs La Sombra & Mascara Dorada

That last match is probably going to be pivotal for someone, but Sombra & Dorada need to quickly pick up wins for it to matter to them. They need a win tonight or it’s over already.

The Communist Plot watched Comando Negro vs Freelance mask vs hair.

Rob watched 11/06 CMLL 52MX and 10/16 & 10/23 CMLL FOX.

LuchaWorld has Alfredo on the 01/29/10 CMLL show, with the second half of the parajes increibles tournament, and KrisZ’s news update.

Samurai vs Evola’s hair match will happen on Sunday as well.
