Mascara retains, Mephisto revenge

CMLL (SUN) 11/21 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring, Hablemos de Gilipolleces <- strong name for a blog]
1) El Divino & Magnum b Evola & Rey Trueno
2) Euforia, Mr. Trueno, Ráfaga b Metal Blanco, Molotov, Sensei
3) Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca, Virus b Fabián el Gitano, Metro, Stuka Jr.
4) Blue Panther, Hijo del Fantasma, Sagrado DQ Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
5) La Máscara b Atlantis [MEX LH]

Atlantis went into the first fall trying to defend against the campana at all costs, but La Mascara surprised with him a rollup to get the early lead. Mascara dominated the second fall, but Atlantis stole it with his own surprise pinfall. Crowd was behind the challenger, but La Mascara finally got the campana to win the third and keep the title.

Mephisto dropped Fantasma with a martinete. He told the crowd that he didn’t care about being DQed, only about hurting Fantasma. This would be a really interesting feud if CMLL was in the business of resolving any of it’s really interesting feuds.

Tercera should eliminate Fabian el Gitano as Mascara Dorada’s replacement.

Rafaga replaced Nosferatu. Metal Blanco had a new mask.

It’s been a month since we last saw Mr. Niebla. Again. Hope he’s okay.

Rob reviews two weeks of CMLL C3.

Solid, Volador pulls a win over Sombra, Mima, Guerrero & Apolo win

Passings:

Chris Long, who appeared on Lucha Libre USA as Solid, passed away this morning. Besides his on-air role as Marco Corleone’s side kick, Long was involved in the promotion behind the scenes. WrestlingObserver says he was shot while working as a bouncer.

Gran Naniwa, Kimura Yoshikimi, passed away in October and news of his passing was only released this weekend. To my knowledge, Naniwa never wrestled in a lucha promotion, but had some memorable matches with luchadors.

CMLL (SUN) 11/21 Arena Coliseo [CMLL]
1) Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II b Cholo & Semental
2) Demus 3:16, Escorpion, Puma King b Leono, Metálico, Trueno
3) Durango Kid, Hooligan, Nitro b Ángel Azteca Jr., Camaleón, Starman
4) Fuego, Máximo, Toscano b Pólvora, Shigeo Okumura, Yoshihashi
5) Dragón Rojo Jr., Último Guerrero, Volador Jr. b La Sombra, Místico, Shocker

Looks like Metalico was strechered out.

Camaleon in the tercera! He replaced Rey Cometa.

Maximo got Okumura with his powerbomb to take the semimain.

Volador stole Sombra’s mask and rolled him up for the win.

CMLL (FRI) 11/19 Deportivo Agustin Millan [SL391, DJ Spectro]
1) Monje Loco I & Monje Loco II b Mr. Impacto & Sindrome
2) Flecha & Vampiro Negro L Estrunedo, Canelo Casas, Damian el Inmortal, Emperador,Principe, Destroyer [mask, hair, ruleta rusa]
3) Rosa Azteca L Mima Shimoda, Dark Angel, Tiffany, Marcela, Amapola, Estrellita, Princesa Blanca [ruleta rusa, hair]
4) Scorpio Jr. L Último Guerrero, Toscano, Místico, Sagrado, Misterioso II, Felino, Shigeo Okumura [ruleta rusa, hair]

One of the other shows on Friday night with some apuesta matches. All were winners escape ciberneticos, where you were freed from the match by beating someone, and the last person left lost their hair or mask to the second to last.

Vampiro Negro replaced Bengali, lost his mask in a draw with Flecha (the CMLL one, who lost his hair.) Vampiro Negro’s name is Juan Guerrero Pedroza, of Cuernavaca, 22, five years a wrestler. That name doesn’t turn up much, but there is a match last year in Tampico.

Mima Shimoda gets credit for taking “Rosa Azteca”‘s hair. She was listed on the poster as La Rosa. I have no other results for a Rosa Azteca. Hmmm.

Scorpio Jr., a person who was actually supposed to be in their match and is an actually known person, lost his hair to Ultimo Guerrero in a bloody/mask ripping final. Unlike Scorpio’s last hair match loss, he actually got his hair cut this time.

CMLL (FRI) 11/19 Plaza de Toros de Chilpancingo, Guerrero [Luchas 2000]
3) Brazo de PlatinoApolo Estrada Jr.Volador Jr.La MáscaraPsicosisEl Hijo de Aníbal,Héctor GarzaHisteriaDragón Rojo Jr.Atlantis [hair, cage]

And the other show. Brazo de Platino lost his hair to Apolo Estrada Jr. in a bloody final. (Pattern.) Three Brazos lose their hairs in  a week, which is about usual.

Dragon Rojo replaced Ultimo Guerrero, and Hijo del Anibal randomlly replaced Charly Manson. No word of any replacements for the people who double and triple booked people on this night.

AAA in AJPW: Ozz and Cuervo’s turn to be in a tag tournament.
11/20: Ozz, Cuervo, Masada b Kaz Hayashi, Shuji Kondo, Bushi [Ozz Special (?) on Bushi]
11/21: [STRONGEST TAG] Ozz & Cuervo b Kenzo Suzuki & KONO [Ozz pin Kenzo – finish which AAA wouldn’t actually book!]
Ozz & Cuervo are 1-0, 2 pts, but a long way to go.

Lineups

IWRG (THU) 11/25 Arena Naucalpan
1) Imposible vs Dinamic Black
2) Brazo Metalico, Saruman, Suicida vs Alan Extreme, Eterno, Hammer
3) Bombero Infernal, Maldito Jr., Samot vs Cerebro Negro, Chico Che, Dr. Cerebro
4) Ángel Mortal & Gallego vs Black Terry & Comando Negro
5) El Hijo de Aníbal & Veneno vs Espíritu & Joe Lider and Negro Navarro & Trauma I and Relampago & Villano III

Calling that main event ‘weird’ is underselling it. They’re actually following up the semimain angle.

I wonder who Comando Negro really is. I mean, he’s Comando Negro, don’t want to take that away, but he’s either beloved by the IWRG powers that be or he’s related to someone. Or both!

IWRG (SUN) 11/28 Arena Naucalpan
1) Centurión vs King Drako
2) Dinamic Black & Eragon vs Alan Extreme & Epidemia
3) Black Terry, Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro vs Avisman, El Hijo del Diablo, Gamos
4) El Hijo de Aníbal, Scorpio Jr., Veneno vs Fuerza Guerrera, Gran Markus Jr., Hijo de Gran Markus
5) Hijo de Pirata Morgan & Pirata Morgan vs Hijo del Cien Caras & Máscara Año 2000 Jr.

Gamos? Gamos. I don’t recall asking for Gran Markuses. Gran Marki?

Aguila takes out Bucanero, Mephisto returns, next week’s lineup

CMLL (FRI) 11/19 Arena Mexico [CMLL, Cesar]
1) Inquisidor & Tiger KidAstro Boy & Robin
2) Arkángel de la Muerte, Dr. X, SkándaloÁngel de Plata, Guerrero Maya Jr., Tigre Blanco
3) Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Warrior, PierrothitoBam Bam, Eléctrico, Último Dragoncito
4) RushPólvora [lightning]
5) Blue Panther, La Sombra, Rotoporky DQ Averno, Mephisto, Taichi
6) Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero DQ Charly Manson, El Alebrije, Mr. Águila

CMLL.com

Ultimo Guerrero managed to give Alebrije his front superplex, which is sort of amazing. Didn’t end up well for that team. With Negro and UG occupied, the rudos crotched Bucanero hard into the post, then went after a leg. Bucanero was beaten up on the outside, with the stairs being thrown on him for the DQ. Bucanero had to be stretchered to the back.

Mephisto seemed back to normal in the highlights from I saw. Normal means fouling Sombra on springboard to end the match. (Mephisto had powerbombed Sombra to win the first fall off a dragonrana attempt, but I guess he didn’t think he could do it twice.) Mephisto and Hijo del Fantasma (special guest commentator) exchanged words after the match. Mephisto accused Fantasma of injuring him (??? by taking a ‘rana ???) and Fantasma brought up the time Mephisto injured him. Maybe they’ll remember to do something with feud?

Rush won in 8:38 with his neck crank submission.

Pequeno Warrior snuck in a foul to get the pinfall over Electrico.

Ras de Lona said Negro Casas was the 10th member of Block B for Copa Junior. Also, Fuego, Angel de Oro, Delta, and La Mascara were teased as the choices for Mascara Dorada’s replacement in the national trios champions. In an Invasors interview segment (where Aguila was missing), Charly Manson stole the “we are the difference” line from Perros del Mal and they talked of plans for 2011. And voting for the best of 2010 should start soon.

Sombra talked his most recent NJPW tour. Interesting in that CMLL had footage of Team CMLL vs Lyger/Samurai (none of the matches made the web, so NJPW actually had to give them that footage) and there was a significant amount of talk about Davey Richards. Enough to make you think he could be stopping by Arena Mexico in 2011.

Cesar sides with Rob and thinks the winner of the Mascara Dorada replacement will not be a new trios champion. We’ll see.

CMLL’s Twitter announced RadioCMLL.com will start broadcasting on 12/03. Presumably, they’ll be broadcasting the show that night, but details are at a minimum.

LATV has added affiliates in Phoenix, Palm Springs, California and Oklahoma City. They seem like they’re up and running today, so you should be able to see the CMLL show tonight. No promises on it being a new one.

2) Astral, Bam Bam, Último Dragoncito vs Eléctrico, Fantasy, Shockercito

4) Delta, Diamante, Metro vs Cancerbero, Euforia, Raziel
5) La Sombra, Rush, Strong Man vs Misterioso II, Psicosis, Texano
6) Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero vs Charly Manson, Héctor Garza, Mr. Águila

Very rare tecnico vs tecnico minis match. I’m sure we’ll see a mini rudo before the end of that one.

I hope Tiffany being in a singles match means Tiffany is healthy enough to be in a singles match.

Figure Misterioso is a sort of Terrible replacement, but that’s still an odd rudo side for the semimain.

No Dragon Rojo match! You can still go out for the bodybuilding contest, Dragon! (Time to change the excuse to “I have a tag title defense on Saturday and need to be in peak shape.”)

IWRG vs AAA, Dragon Rojo, lineups

IWRG FIL (TUE) 11/16 Arena Naucalpan [Estrellas del Ring]
1) Enfasis & Muerte de Plata b ? & Snake Extreme
2) Mascarita de Oro & Zafiro b Galeno King & Star MVG
3) Flama Infernal, Sky Angel, Volaris b Fulgor I, Fulgor II, Muerte Infernal
4) Fresero Jr., Mariscal, Rolling Jr. b DVD, Guizmo, Tonatiuh
5) Eterno b Alan Extreme, Bugambilia del Norte, Centurión, Comando Negro, Dinamic Black, Guerrero 2000, Keshin Black, Saruman, Guardian de la Noche, Maligno, Menfis, Oass, Raydent, Rayito Mendoza, Shark Boy, Extremo Boy, Golden Bull [Torneo FIL IWRG, cibernetico]

AAA vs IWRG trainee show. Oass (AAA) did not catch Alan Extreme on a dive, which caused issues between the sides in the main event.  Comando Negro was DQed for giving Raydent (AAA) a martinete. Eterno defeated Golden Bull to win it for his side.

Today, CMLL has a show in Arena Mexico no one would’ve cared about before, and all the stories on Thursday’s press conference means no one’s even writing about it. (It’s generic build.) CMLL also have cage matches elsewhere where the most likely person to lose will lose the match.

Dragon Rojo Jr. explains he will NOT be in the bodybuilding contest next Thursday. You see, he would need to dehydrate himself to get in peak shape for bodybuilding, and that would drain his strength too much at a time where he needs it to continue his rivalry with Mistico. (Perhaps we’re getting Dragon Rojo/Mistico next Friday? ) Dragon Rojo still says great things about Poder Mexica but has managed not to talk to them, somehow.

AAA explains that “ruleta rusa” means “battle royal.” It’s never meant that before, but sure why not. It’ll still end up being an elimination match.

Amo de Lucha Libre has the guys from the AAA/IWRG opener talking about their match and the IWRG guys talking about Konnan and Dorian talking about buying their building.

LuchaWorld has the latest Slammin’ Stan.

US: 12/04

Gato pinned Dr. Cerebro to win the opener.

Tiger pinned Billy with a “360 splash” (?). Militia decided to beat up Tiger after the match; probably would’ve been more effective if they did it during the match. Espiritu and Jack tried to make the save and failed, but Los Bizarros made the save. After, Jack tried to give Scoria a hug, but Scoria wasn’t down with being friends with the guys he just saved and walked off. The story appears to be the Bizarros are anti-Militia, but like Cibernetico, not really happy with AAA.

In between matches, Dorian, Konnan, Jennifer Blake and Ultimo Gladiador came to the ring to ask Electroshock to join La Sociedad already. Electroshock emphatically said no. Ultimo Gladiador attacked his friend, Electroshock killed the cruiserweight. Silver King ran in, got beat up. Militia ran in, and eventually the numbers (and a spiked bat) worked in La Sociedad’s favor – until various random IWRG people (including the president) ran them off.

Konnan was at ringside for the tercera and apparently could make up stipulations for the match as it went. 187 couldn’t use weapons (remember last time they used weapons when they weren’t supposed to and got fired? Do they? It was like 6 weeks ago.) 187 had the rudos beat with a pinfall in the ring, Konnan announced you could only get a pinfall on the outside. 187 had the pinfall on the outside, Konnan announced you could only get the pinfall on the inside. Konnan added Decnnis to the match to make it a handicap match, Konnan handcuffed Nicho to make a handcuff match. Finally, the tecnicos from the first couple matches and the IWRG guys ran in to uncuff Nicho and run off Decnnis. And then the rudos won anyway with the spiked bat.

I don’t know how anything in the middle doesn’t just bury the rudos for losing time after time, and they just did the massive run-in on the last segment (and another big run-in on the segment prior.) I’m sure it’ll be fantastic on TV.

Psycho Circus won their match clean. Murder Clown splashed Copetes Salazar after the match. Clowns were busy kidnapping a child when Joaquin Roldan appeared to tell them they had a match with the Perros on Monday.

Wagner was bloodied and beaten by Zorro’s cane. Zorro challenged for the title. That’s set up for Guerra de Titanes, along with another Psycho Circus vs Perros del Mal match.
