CMLL title matches set up for next week, Japan

CMLL (FRI) 10/22 Arena Mexico [Cesar, CMLL]
1) Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío IIMortiz & Semental
2) Ángel de Plata, Starman, Tigre BlancoApocalipsis, Durango Kid, Puma King
3) Pequeño Warrior DQ Eléctrico [lightning]
4) Estrellita, Marcela, TiffanyAmapola, Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sujei
5) Atlantis, Dragón Rojo Jr., Último GuerreroHijo del Fantasma, Super Porky, Toscano
6) El Alebrije, Olímpico, PsicosisLa Máscara, La Sombra, Máscara Dorada

Warrior stripped off Electrico’s mask around the five minute mark for the DQ. CMLL was hyping up a feud between them before the match.

Invasors (though not Marcela) attacked the CMLL female champs before the match, but the hometown trio turned the tide. SO much so that they got DQed for excessive violence in the first fall. Tiffany beat Amapola to take the second fall, and challenged her to a title match next week. Marcela did try to explain why she’d be teaming with these women (to get a shot at the ruda champions and Sujei’s mask) but it was not her strongest.

Toscano fell badly on a dive, coming down on his left elbow. He was standing on the top rope, waiting to dive, when the ropes shook from underneath him and he fell to the floor. Toscano needed help to the back, which gave the rudo an easy advantage to take the semimain in straight falls.

Before the match, Olimpico danced with one of the edecanes. Cesar says Olimpico had “the grace of a polar bear.” Tecnicos took the first, but rudos rallied back for the second and third. Invasors immediately challenged for a trios title match. Tecnicos wasted no time accepting, but both teams were then jumped by Los Guerreros (more so the invasors). While that was going on, Tirantes (the referee for the main event, naturally) was slipping away from ringside. Negro Casas snuck up on Tirantes, fouled him and pulled him in a dragon sleeper, getting some revenge for last week.

CMLL is on 2pm today.

The CMLL Bodybuilding Contest is November 25th. (That’s Thanksgiving where I live. I think, say, Dragon Rojo and I may have totally different eating habits that day.)

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update and Rob’s Top 60 Dives of 2009.

AAA in NOAH
10/23: Genba Hirayanagi & Yoshinobu Kanemaru DRAW Extreme Tiger & Jack Evans [30 minutes]

That’s already the second time limit draw for Tiger already. Tiger & Jack are now 1-0-1 (3 pts) with two matches left, tied for first.

CMLL in NJPW
10/23: Manabu Nakanishi & Strong Man b Terrible & Texano Jr. [Strong Man backflip Texano]

Not a tournament match. This was a special show at a US military base in Japan.

Two title matches, and the 2nd and the 5th matches progress directly from last week. Hmm.

This would be Tiffany’s first world singles championship, if you over think it and don’t consider the Reina de Reinas as more than a trophy. When Tiffany was talking herself up on Ras de Lona, she mentioned she was a former Mexican National champion, started to say the name of another one, and quickly changed to “and other championships”

IWL (SUN) 10/31 Gimnasio Pablo Colin

  1. “The CMLL Bodybuilding Contest is November 25th. (That’s Thanksgiving where I live. I think, say, Dragon Rojo and I may have totally different eating habits that day.)”

I dunno Cubs – I bet they all pig out immediately after the competition is over…

  2. Giving a 10 year old boy Dark Angel’s ring worn outfit is so CMLL. That kid won’t grow up with any issues.

  3. @Nikita: I thought they had to ease themselves back in, or they’d suffer a bit. I’m not sure I need to know.

@Rob: That’s actually interesting, because Vangelis hasn’t had a match in Coliseo or Mexico since August.

  4. I mentioned this in one of the chats and keep forgetting to follow up here with the info- there’s lucha libre on Netflix instant queue- it’s called Luchamania, La Batallia Por Mexico. It’s old TJ shit.

  5. @thecubsfan: Vangelis clearly doesn’t need the money with that shirt he’s sporting.

TOSCANO DOWN. That guy always takes the most sickening fall off botched spots and yet never seems to get seriously injured (as in career-ending… I know he’s been out for months at times).

  6. Toscano’s wife clearly not phased by just watching her husband almost take a header onto the concrete floor.

  7. Really quick main event w/ seemingly zero edits. Monito’s spear was the highlight of the match.

  8. 52MX does have the tag team tournament final, so I don’t have to stalk anyone this week.

  9. Also, the CMLL Trios title match, which I think was being built up on Fox. So those people get messed with, but they still get Luna Magica vs Princesa Blanca!

  10. @Rob: Yup. Monito vs. Cuije got the crowd into it. After the final fall, I noticed that no one got up to go home like they usually do. I guess the crowd caught by surprise by how fast it was.

  11. Cesar wasn’t kidding – fans didn’t give Angels vs DD a chance; those who were making sounds were whistling. It’s as if the opening tag match had got bumped to the middle of the card.

  12. @thecubsfan: To be fair… they are opening match guys outside of Delta who just wrestles like one.

Someone replied in Cesar’s blog saying the people who were making the noises were the rudo fans since they had nobody to cheer for.

  13. I just noticed Mistico hasn’t been booked for a match at Arena Mexico in two weeks. Is he on the out with CMLL ? Being punished? Just being Mistico?

  14. LATV has 10/08 Arena Mexico
    1) Ángel Azteca Jr., Ángel de Plata, Molotov b Durango Kid, Escorpion, Nitro
    2) Estrellita, Princesa Blanca, Tiffany b Dark Angel, Luna Mágica, Marcela

    [shrug]

  15. @CM93: The GDL Local show and the C3 show both air at the top of the hour, both on web feeds. ACM is early tomorrow.

  16. XEJTV is soccer
CanalTres Real is Canal 28 with nothing?
GDL is Cadena 3 steam not loading?

Where can I catch these streams?

  17. Both tecnicos horribly blew their ranas off the ramp although Palacio seem to hit his fine but Malefico didn’t roll with it.

  18. Opener on GDL was the best…

Still either of those links never worked for the C3 feed for me, I was wondering if that had to do with a Canadian IP address?

  19. I’m Canadian and they were working. I’m recording the C3 show. (although last week it only got audio for some reason. Show was much more enjoyable that way.)
