Torreon, tag titles, Lyger demands a mask, GDL

AAA Wagner (SUN) 09/12 Plaza de Toros de Torreon Coahuila [AAA, La WagnerMania]
1) Hermano Violencia I & Hermano Violencia II b Black Boy & Centella Azul
2) Araña del Futuro, Arana Steel, Vector DQ Dorado Jr., Eterno, Maquina 27
3) Espanto V & Sexy Francis L Sexy Libra, Daisy Crazy, Pimpinela Escarlata, V-57, Sexy Piscis, Dulce Paola [losers advance]
4) Espanto V b Sexy Francis [hair]
5) Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown b Argenis, Laredo Kid, Súper Fly
6) Silver King b Dr. Wagner Jr. and El Mesías [IWRG HEAVY]

Full results from this show. Silver King retained his title, Sexy Francis lost his hair. Building looks about half full.

Edit: This is the first successful (and recorded) IWRG IC Heavyweight Championship defense in 4 years.

CMLL (MON) 09/13 Arena Puebla [SuperLuchas, Fuego en el Ring]
1) Black Tiger, Milenium, Stigma b Ares, Espiritu Maligno, Karisma
2) Bronco, Camorra, Hooligan b Leono, Lestat, Tigre Blanco
3) Ángel de Oro, Fuego, Stuka Jr. b Euforia, Nosferatu, Pólvora
4) Blue Panther, La Sombra, Sagrado b Averno, Jushin Lyger, Mephisto
5) Héctor Garza & Mr. Águila b Máscara Dorada & Místico [CMLL TAG]

Rudos threw a fit when Tirantes wasn’t the ref for the main event, and threatened to walk out if there wasn’t a change. There was, and the tecnicos now tried to walk out, but Tirantes started to count them out. Tecnicos came back, won the first fall, and lost the second fall to a quick count. Tirantes slow counted the tecnicos and fast counted the rudos pin in the third fall. Mistico and Mascara Dorada kidnapped the tag belts from the commissioner (who had upheld Tirantes decision) and refused to give them back, demanding a rematch. Garza said they’d have to get back in line for a shot.

Sombra beat Lyger, who was ticked. Lyger pulled off Sombra’s mask and attacked him after the match.

CMLL (TUE) 09/14 Arena Mexico [@cmllmagazine, Fuego en el Ring, Cesar]
1) Horus & Robin b Disturbio & Semental
2) Cancerbero, Dr. X, Raziel b Ángel Azteca Jr., Ángel de Plata, Fabián el Gitano
3) Ayumi, Goya Kong, Luna Mágica b Amapola, Mima Shimoda, Tifany
4) Averno, Jushin Lyger, Shigeo Okumura b Metro, Sagrado, Valiente
5) Atlantis, Felino, Último Guerrero b Blue Panther, Máscara Dorada, Toscano

Felino, in as a replacement for Volador Jr., pinned his old rival Mascara Dorada clean. Volador being MIA before his big match on Friday is concerning.

Toscano was in Shocker’s spot (and Sagrado was in Toscano’s in the semimain), so that’s two straight shows Shocker has missed. The story is Shocker has a knee injury. CMLL.com’s page doesn’t have the update as I’m writing it, but news articles (using CMLL PR) have La Mascara in Shocker’s spot for Friday.

Rudos not only won the semimain, but yanked off all the masks of the tecnicos afterwards. Lyger declared he would not leave Mexico without winning a mask. Uh oh. I wonder if the Metro sponsorship is about up.

Tecnicas won their match despite Luna Magica leaving a bit early; she was having problems breathing. Goya flattened Amapola & Tiffany on the outside, and Ayumi pinned Mima with a german suplex. Said to be better than Sunday’s woman’s match.

CMLL (TUE) 09/14 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Thonder b Templario
2) Angelo & Metatrón b Acertijo & León Blanco
3) Mr. Trueno & Rey Trueno b Exterminador & Malefico
4) Hijo del Fantasma, La Sombra, Strong Man b Mephisto, Mr. Águila, Mr. Niebla
5) Dragón Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca b Gallo, Metal Blanco, Rush

Something happened here, because they flipped the top two matches and Gallo replaced Palacio Negro (boooooo). Poder Mexica won all three falls, just getting excessive violence in the second match.

Strong Man was too strong for the rudos. Angelo replaced Astaroth.

Heroes del Ring bios: Rocky Romero (“he has developed a reputation as a relentless fighter by dominating ¨Anything-Goes¨ tournaments all over the world”) and Marco Corleone.

US: 10/02

Octagoncito retained the minis title, with both seconds (Mini Charly & Mini Psicosis) getting involved.

Parka and Joaquin discussed the Legion getting the best of AAA lately, with Parka blaming Joaquin for Dorian. Joaquin said to trust him. Joaquin made a couple matches for Heroes: a cage match between the AAA Army and the Milita (no specifics) and a Parka/Cibernetico tag match against The Best of La Sociedad, though that was up to Cibernetico to agree.

Tiger & Relampago had no issues as a team. They still lost, Relampago taking a top rope powerbomb for Tiger Cota. With Relampago out of it, Decnnis threw Tiger into the front row.

Alex got Pimpinela with a spinning DDT to take that match. After, Elegido talked about wanting to win the Copa Antonio Pena and also have a apuesta match with anyone in the Militas. The Stones accepted, but we’re waiting for a contract signing.

Before the semimain, Dorian decreed 187 would be kicked out of AAA if they used a weapon, while the Legion team would not. I’m behind on AAA TV, so maybe I’ve yet to see the skit where they explain who has power when. (Probably not.) Anyway, rudos brought in a bat, Lider got a hold of it, and used for the DQ. Presumably, 187 is out of AAA. The Legion stormed the ring, Damian hitting the tecnicos with a shovel. At some point here, Lider was thrown thru a table, and the rudos poured the contents of a Draino bottle on Nicho. Tiger, Laredo, Relampago and Elegido tried to make the save, but the Militia cut them off. Parka & Mesias were able to break thru to make the save.

Main event included lots of brawling and Perro Aguayo bleeding. Alex and the Militia tried to get involved, but Joaquin warned them of the 90 day suspension and they back off. Cibernetico chokeslammed Damian 666 for the pin. Joaquin sent security to force the Perros from the ring, and then asked Cibernetico if he was with them. Cibernetico shook hands and the AAA Army celebrated on the ramp.

Cibernetico was still promising the return of Los Bizarros in an interview with Dos de Tres.

Next taping is Sunday, and could be the last taping before Hereos Inmortales. That card looks like

  • El Hijo de Perro Aguayo vs Mesias
  • Silver King vs Dr. Wagner Jr. (c) [AAA HEAVY]
  • La Parka & Cibernetico vs La Sociedad (maybe LA Park & Zorro?)
  • Torneo de Antonio Pena (includes Elegido, whatever Legion guys who aren’t in the other matches, Vampiro?)
  • Militia vs AAA [cage] (Air Force? Super Fly’s turn?)
  • probably something with the women
  • maybe Jack defends his title?

Elegido & ? vs Los Bello Stones gets held off for Guerra de Titanes.

They’ve had 6 or 7 matches on this show previously, so that’s about it. The top 5 matches have all been made clear (even if the participants have not), so they’re doing better than the last show.

IWRG, Garza & Aguila retain, Jarrett, Chile

La Primera de Puebla

AAA Wagner (SUN) 09/12 Plaza de Toros de Torreon Coahuila [AAA]
3) Silver King b Dr. Wagner Jr. and El Mesías [IWRG HEAVY]

I thought this was for the AAA heavyweight title, but AAA says it was for IWRG’s. Silver King won by beating his brother, which Silver King says would happen again if they meet at Hereos Inmortales.

Mascara Dorada & Mistico had matching outfits, but not enough to get the tag titles. No full results, but Garza & Aguila retained with help from Tirantes.

AAA tapes tonight in Tlalnepantla. Octagoncito defends the minis title against Mini Histeria, Extreme Tiger & Relampago try to co-exist and the main event is a sort of rematch from Verano. They teased Electroshock and the rest of the Maniacos making The Decision tonight, though they’re not on the card. I suspect they’re taking their talents to La Sociedad anyway. (And I think that joke has expired already.)

SuperLuchas says Jeff Jarrett will be in Mexico from 09/26 to 28 on behalf of TNA. No mention of which company he’s here to talk to, but I’d presume AAA.

It is the WWF Welterweight championship on the line on Thursday in IWRG.

Heroes en el Ring has bios of Espectro Jr. (who sounds like either the big boss at the end or a secret opponent; cool either way) and Gronda (who needs to be quoted)

Although his apparent physical strength would seem to indicate otherwise, Gronda´s wrestling style is not purely about power. This giant also possesses the ability to construct precise attacks while counteracting the advances of his enemies. Size however does play a part in his game plan. Due to his impressive stature, Gronda often simply exhausts his opponents into submission due to the colossal physical effort which is required to move him.

Okay, I buy that last part.

Mistico, Shocker, Super Porky vs Volador, Texano, Terrible headlines a show in Austin, TX on 10/03. Tickets go on sale Friday.

Rob has random thoughts on recent CMLL & AAA and writes about an early ’95 Guerreras vs Metal/Lover match.

Segunda Caida reviews more Black Terry.

CMLL (SUN) 09/12 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) El Divino b Metalik
2) Angelo & Samurai b In Memoriam & Infierno
3) Leo & Neutrón b Ebola & Mr. Trueno
4) Ephesto, Felino, Vangelis b Gallo, Metro, Rush
5) Brazo de Plata, Máscara Dorada, Toscano b Dragón Rojo Jr., Mephisto, Mr. Niebl

Main event was the usual. Felino snuck in a foul on Gallo in the semimain, then challenged Gallo for his title. Gallo said no and challenge Felino for his hair. Felino said no and walked off.

No IWRG results as of yet. IWRG did air on TVC Deportes last night, and it was the matches from this past Thursday. I have not seen it on the usual sites yet.

Black Terry Jr. has pictures of a independent show in Coliseo Tulancingo from last night. He was uploading videos while I was writing this. I was transfixed by the one with X-Fly/Zumbido for a while this morning, and a Mano Negra & Solar vs Black Terry & Negro Navarro match is going up now.

Since there’s nothing else I can think to talk about it, might as well fill some space with the (current) plans for stuff here

09/17: chat for Volador/Mistico. This did seem more interesting when Charly said there was a hair match too, but if anyone else is interested…

09/25: going to DGUSA Chicago to harass CIMA into giving Dr. Cerebro his title rematch. Possibly going to the Milwaukee show the next day if this one convinces me. Warning you ahead of time that I’ll probably be tweeting live results, so you may want to unfollow for a weekend if you don’t care

10/01: if CMLL runs anything on this show, we’ve got it and AAA’s show, which seems worthy of a chat.

I’m all caught up on last week’s TV; AAA and the LATV one should be up when I get a chance. Won’t even get a chance to start on this week’s until Tuesday at the soonest. I’m carrying around Sombra vs Volador on my iPod Touch but still haven’t found a chance to watch it.

Averno retains over Charly, La Fiera, Aaron Grundy, Mistico/Volador, lineups

the champ/@cmllmagazine

CMLL (SUN) 09/12 Arena Mexico [@cmllmagazine, Cesar]
1) Camorra, Cholo, SementalBengala, Robin, Trueno
2) La Seductora, Princesa Blanca, Princesa SujeiDalys la Caribeña, Estrella Mágica, Star Fire
3) Fabián el Gitano, Fuego, SagradoPólvora, Virus, Yoshihashi
4) Místico, Strong Man, Valiente DQ Terrible, Texano Jr., Volador Jr.
5) Averno DQ Charly Manson [NWA MIDDLE]

CMLL’s now calling this “the NWA World [Historic] Championship”. PICK A NAME AND STICK TO IT. Volador was Averno’s second and kind of screwing around throughout. Charly did not have a second, but Tirantes was ref. Averno took the first, Mistico took the second. In the third, Charly accidentally kicked Tirantes. Tirantes is loyal to the Invasors until he gets hit, because he’s actual loyal to himself first. Manson got DQed and this hasn’t solved anything.

Shocker was MIA, so Valiente moved up and Fabian el Gitano took his place. The match had no chance of a clean finish with Volador/Mistico; Volador went for Mistico’s mask, Mistico blocked, Volador fouled him instead.

Sujei replaced Yeska. Match was still poor.

Two passings in the last day. La Fiera passed away Saturday. Fiera was a significant part of CMLL from the early 80s to the mid 90s, with a lot of big hair match wins and losses and a great reputation as a wrestler in his young days. Fiera first vanished in the late 90s (jailed for drug dealing), returned, then left for good in 2000s, resurfacing every few years in AAA (and looking progressively in worse shape.)

I don’t have any record of him wrestling since 2007, and any mention of him in the last few years was about him either being in a bad way, or his death being falsely reported. The most recent interview I can find with Fiera is one from Dos de Tres, talking about a previous report of his passing. I was half expecting to hear this one was somehow false too, but it appears he didn’t cheat death this time. Wrestling Observer reports Fiera was stabbed five times Saturday and died later in the hospital.

Remembrances: SuperLuchas, Estrellas del Ring, DJ Spectro, Dos de Tres. CMLL held a moment of applause for him during their show.

Mike Shaw, who wrestled in CMLL as Aaron Grundy, also passed away this weekend. Canoe has a great bio of his career.

Mistico sets up next Friday’s match with Volador by ripping him for several paragraphs. Mistico says Volador talked trash about Brazo de Plata and Rayo de Jalisco, so Mistico is going to shut his mouth next week. Mistico says he created the Super Sky Team and made Volador famous and, as soon as Mistico stops talking about Volador, he’ll disappear from lucha libre. This time around, Mistico suggests Mascara Dorada, La Mascara and Valiente as Super Sky Team candidates.

Peste Negra is livid with Tirantes refereeing, with Bucanero saying he’s always respected the referees, but he may disrespect this particular one and take whatever punishment the commission deals out.

As part of CMLL’s celebration on 09/17, they’re bringing back a lot of wrestlers from the 70s and 90s.

AAA explains the Extreme Tiger/Relampago teamup as “Joaquin Roldan says all of AAA needs to work together, starting with the feuding guys.” This is why Dorian & Konnan are winning.

The Gladiatores has an interview with Decnnis.

Los Perros del Mal joined the walk of fame.

DJ Spectro writes about Monje Loco beating Espectro Jr. II for the NWA Middleweight Championshp. That is a copy of the belt that Espectro Jr. has had for many years. Not sure where it came from, but it has nothing to do with Demon or CMLL. DJ Spectro also looks back at Black Shadow Jr. winning 11 masks in a year and El Rebelde vs Ciclon Rojo for the masks in 1959.

Cesar has his look at this week’s lineups, picks his current leaders for wrestler of the year, and comments on Olimpico’s new look.

SuperLuchas #381 goes with Volador vs Mistico.

Luchas 2000 #538 has Dorada, Volador, Mistico and Electro.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

Lineups

IWRG (THU) 09/16 Arena Naucalpan
1) Super Halcon Jr. vs Mixteco Jr.
2) Brazo Metalico & Dinamic Black vs Imposible & Nemesis
3) Eragon, Freelance, Hijo del Pantera vs Carta Brava Jr., Comando Negro, Magia Negra
4) Dr. Cerebro vs Decnnis [IWRG IC WELTER]
5) Cibernético, Espíritu, Gato Eveready, Silver King, Último Gladiador vs Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Oficial 911, Pirata Morgan, Trauma I

IWRG’s contribution to the 09/16 war – IWRG’s running it’s normal show, but we’ve got CMLL in AULL’s home, the Perros del Mal surviving to run a show another day, and and the Morenos/Invasors running one of their own in Arena Azteca.

IWRG title makes more sense than WWF one. Decnnis really is getting elevated (in IWRG.)

Someone really loves these AAA vs IWRG 10 man ciberneticos.

CMLL (SUN) 09/19 Arena Coliseo
1) Bengala & Principe vs Apocalipsis & Zayco
2) Metálico, Molotov, Tony Rivera vs Durango Kid, Escorpion, Inquisidor
3) Mascarita Dorada, Shockercito, Último Dragoncito vs Pequeño Black Warrior, Pequeño Nitro, Pierrothito
4) Delta, Diamante, Valiente vs Misterioso II, Pólvora, Sangre Azteca
5) Máximo, Strong Man, Toscano vs Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero

Seems like a questionable card. Tony Rivera shouldn’t be here, and Delta & Diamante are higher than normal, though their partners are not. There didn’t seem to be any obvious match set up, though.

IWRG (SUN) 09/19 Arena Naucalpan
1) Máscara Magnífica vs Guerrero 2000
2) Brazo Metalico & Dinamic Black vs Epidemia & Nemesis
3) Black Terry, Eragon, Jack vs Carta Brava Jr., Comando Negro, Magia Negra
4) Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro, Mike Segura vs Avisman, El Hijo del Diablo, Escoria
5) Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown vs La Parka Jr., Scorpio Jr., Tinieblas Jr.

There was a tease of Suicida joining the rudo side last week, this may be a bit of that. Will Parka, Scorpio, and Tinieblas be the team to finally stop the streak? (No.)

CMLL (SUN) 09/19 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Relampago vs Quca
2) Black Metal & Idolo vs Drago & In Memoriam
3) Hierro & Virgo vs Ángel del Mal & Mr. Trueno
4) Ángel de Oro, Ángel de Plata, Gallo vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Shigeo Okumura, Yoshihashi
5) Blue Panther, La Máscara, Máscara Dorada vs Jushin Liger, Mr. Águila, Volador Jr.

About the usual here.
