Demus victorious, Sombra/Volador, Perros

CMLL (MON) 08/23 Arena Puebla [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Lestat & Metatrón b Centauro de Fuego & Espiritu Maligno
2) Diamante, Molotov, Starman b Disturbio, Durango Kid, Semental
3) Dalys la Caribeña, Goya Kong, Marcela b La Seductora, Princesa Sujei, Yeska
4) Dragón Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca b Hijo del Fantasma, Stuka Jr., Valiente
5) La Máscara, La Sombra, Máscara Dorada b Averno, Mephisto, Volador Jr.

Sombra pinned Volador, and challenged him to a title match for next week. Volador said NO. So, anyway, they’re doing the title match next week.

@cmllmagazine

Dragon Rojo and Valiente are still feuding here.

CMLL (TUE) 08/24 Arena Mexico [Cesar, ESTO, @cmllmagazine, SuperLuchas]
1) Apocalipsis & Apolo Estrada Jr. b Astro Boy & Freesbe
2) Fuego, Pegasso, Rey Cometa DQ Arkángel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Skándalo
3) Averno, Dragón Rojo Jr., Mephisto b Sagrado, Toscano, Valiente
4) Demus 3:16 b Pierrothito [bicentenario mini]
5) Felino, Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero b Blue Panther, Máscara Dorada, Shocker

Pierrothito took the first fall, and Demus – who seems to have been the tecnico here –  came back for the second. Third fall went some time and included both men bleeding by the end, which hasn’t been done in Arena Mexico in a long time. Demus, with a nod to the past, pulled out the valagueza for the win.

Negro Casas snatched Dorada’s mask and covered him to take the main event.

Sagrado was hurt during the tercera but returned to action.

DQ was the press slam over the top rope bit. Maybe it’s just the matches I’m seeing, but it feels like there’s been a lot of two fall/DQ losses for the Tuareg of late.

CMLL (TUE) 08/24 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Nube Roja & Relampago b Cerveruz & Templario
2) Astaroth & Black Metal b Infierno & Titanio
3) Ebola b Palacio Negro
4) Sangre Azteca, Shigeo Okumura, Yoshihashi b Ángel de Oro, Ángel de Plata, Rush
5) Atlantis & Mr. Niebla b Máximo & Rotoporky

Atlantis snuck in a foul on Porky before he was squashed. Self defense, really.

Semimain rudos won clean over the tecnicos, including Yoshihashi defeating Rush. Unlikely!

Ebola “used his experience” to beat Palacio Negro. I suspect cheating.

Ovaciones’ cage match participant interview of the day is Sombra, who wants Lyger’s mask. It’s good to have goals.

Tinieblas Senior, who was supposed to be on a retirement tour right now, now says the retirement tour will take place in February 2011. Tinieblas blames the delay on “the bad weather, the world, and supporting sponsors.” The world?

Dr. Wagner Jr. is sure the recording of his father picking Silver King over him must be a fake.

Princesa Sujei defends the PWR Women’s Championship versus Alissa Flash on PWR’s 09/19 show at the Santa Cruz County fair.

Via WagnerMania, ComiCorp starts a look at a wrestler per every year of (EMLL) lucha libre with Yaqui Joe and 1933.

LuchaWorld has this week’s Ras de Lona.

Lineups

PdM (SAT) 08/28 Cancun
1) Fabi Apache vs Mari Apache
2) el Ángel & Hijo de LA Park vs Bestia 666 & X-Fly
3) Extreme Tiger & Jack Evans vs Damián 666 & Halloween
4) Dr. Wagner Jr. & El Mesías vs el Hijo del Perro Aguayo & LA Park

Hooray, a new Perros del Mal card. Naturally, the website they list for tickets has expired, and I’m not exactly sure of the venue.

CMLL (MON) 08/30 Arena Puebla
1) King Jaguar & Stigma vs Fuerza Chicana & Sauron
2) Asturiano, Black Tiger, Centella de Oro, Lestat vs Durango Kid, Puma King, Raziel, Scorpion [cibernetico]
3) Delta, Diamante, Rush vs Dr. X, Hooligan, Nitro
4) Blue Panther, Máscara Dorada, Místico vs Héctor Garza, Mr. Águila, Psicosis
5) Volador Jr. vs La Sombra [MEX LH]

I guess Volador has to retain it here if he’s defending the same title in Guadalajara the following Sunday? Interesting lineup with the cibernetico there.

CMLL (TUE) 08/31 Arena Mexico
1) Camaleón & Robin vs Camorra & Inquisidor
2) Pequeno Maximo, Shockercito, Último Dragoncito vs Pequeño Universo 2000, Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Warrior
3) Fuego, Leono, Metro vs Cancerbero, Nosferatu, Virus
4) Ángel de Oro, Sagrado, Toscano vs Shigeo Okumura, Terrible, Texano
5) La Máscara, Máscara Dorada, Místico vs Felino, Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero

Pequeno Maximo and the Parrot on the same show? Hmmm.

They may be setting up something with Negro and Dorada here, but it’ll be thrown off by the cibernetico to come on 09/07.

CMLL (TUE) 08/31 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Javier Cruz Jr. vs Quca
2) Idolo & Samurai vs Acertijo & León Blanco
3) Leo vs Rey Trueno
4) Gallo, Metal Blanco, Palacio Negro vs Ephesto, Euforia, Vangelis
5) Hijo del Fantasma, Rayo de Jalisco Jr., Valiente vs Atlantis, Averno, Dragón Rojo Jr.

Palacio Negro semimain, hooray.  Atlantis and Rayo are probably headed to a singles match here as well before long.

indy (SUN) 09/05 Auditorio Benito Juarez en Zapopan, Jalisco
1) Giovanni vs Enigma
3) Cometa & Lasser vs Mugrosos Vagos I & Mugrosos Vagos II
4) Antuan, Dakota, Quazar vs Azazel, Bobby Black, La Mole
5) Brillante, Pepe Aguayo, Xavier Cruz vs Anthrax, Depredador, Perro Callejero
6) Angel Blanco Jr., El Hijo del Solitario, Hijo de LA Park, Rayman vs Apolo Dantés, Cesar Dantes, Cien Caras Jr., Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr.
7) Blue Demon Jr. & LA Park vs Dr. Wagner Jr. & El Hijo Del Santo

The mostly full lineup for a show going up against a loaded CMLL show the same day. There’s also a women’s match with no listed participants. I wonder if Tiffany got her spot on CMLL’s show in small part to keep her off this one?

10 thoughts to “Demus victorious, Sombra/Volador, Perros”

  1. “El mundial” is a short form of “Copa Mundial de Fútbol”, so Tinieblas does not mean the world, he means the world cup. But this excuse does not make sense anyhow since Tinieblas already scheduled a break for the world cup when he started his “retirement” tour.

  2. Thanks!

That interview is funny, because Tinieblas goes on to talk about how WWE’s taking all the money which would go to Mexican wrestling (questionable) because lucha isn’t innovating enough, and then goes on to talk about how he’s going to have Tinieblas Jr. and Alushe with him just like the old days.

  3. Please let this lead to a Demus vs Delta fued, something tells me those two can provide some quality.

  4. 9/19 has Chikara in Brooklyn vs. a tv taping for ECCL(East Coast Championship Lucha), in Queens.

  5. Good point re: Dorada/Casas.

I wonder if Casas is going to skip the tournament and they’ll just do the match anyways on 9/7. It seems like Mistico/Volador is the intended final for 9/17 so Negro has no reason to be involved.

Awesome Puebla lineup. Torneo should rock and I suspect the locals will be going all out to impress. Perhaps the start of some sort of local feud leading to a cage match as well.

  6. @thecubsfan: That is one weird show & with so many fly ins no way that they will make money. That LA crew has to be working several shows in the area right? I count at least 6 that are coming in from the west coast.

  7. @Flashmagic: This is apparently the same promoter was doing those shows with a lot of lucha fly in talent previously, and then canceled on them. No guarantee he won’t again.
