CMLL (FRI) 08/20 Arena Mexico [SuperLuchas, @cmllmagazine, Fuego en el Ring]
1) Ángel de Oro & Ángel de Plata b Loco Max & Skándalo
2) Fuego, Stuka Jr., Valiente b Misterioso II, Shigeo Okumura, Yoshihashi
3) Texano Jr. b Sagrado [lightning]
4) Felino, Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero b Charly Manson, Héctor Garza, Mr. Águila
5) Atlantis, Strong Man, Último Guerrero DQ Olímpico, Psicosis, Super Porky [Relevos Increíbles]
6) La Sombra, Máscara Dorada, Místico DQ Jushin Lyger, Mr. Niebla, Volador Jr.
Rudos won the first, tecnicos took the second (Dorada beat Lyger). Mistico had Lyger in La Mistica in the third, but Volador pulled off his mask (though this took a couple of tries.) Volador took Sombra’s mask for good measure.
Semimain was basically Atlantis/Ultimo Guerrero vs Olimpico/Psicosis. Straight fall win for the Guerreros, with the rudos pulling off the tecnicos masks for the DQ. That’s going around.
Felino had Garza beat with a casita in the third fall, but Tirantes suddenly decided he must yell at the fans. Bestia Negra snuck in to count. After the match, Rey Bucanero challenged Mr. Aguila to a hair match, and Negro Casas challenged Charly Manson. Those sound very likely for the next month.
Lady Apache will be out of the ring for a while; she’s going to be a new mom.
Latin Lover won his match on Thursday, by DQ after Hector was caught fouling him.
Heavy Metal says he’ll have no mercy when he gets his hands on Electroshock. Also, Heavy Metal and Pepe Casas at the Walk of Fame.
El Brazo says he’s didn’t join the Milita because AAA’s supported him so long.
Rob theorized why Bam Bam didn’t win his cibernetico.
Cesar wishes CMLL really went all out for it’s anniversary show.
Ras de Lona focused on the minis tournament and the four people added to mask match. Olimpico, of all people, did a great promo. Also, Jushin Lyger remains awesome.
CMLL (FRI) 08/27 Arena Mexico
1) Diamante & Sensei vs Inquisidor & Mortiz
2) Astral, Eléctrico, Último Dragoncito vs Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Warrior
3) Máximo vs Ephesto [lightning]
4) Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas vs Héctor Garza, Mr. Águila, Texano Jr.
5) El Alebrije, Histeria, Olímpico vs Atlantis, Strong Man, Último Guerrero
6) La Sombra, Místico, Shocker vs Jushin Lyger, Psicosis, Terrible
Even though it’s Sombra, Mistico vs Lyger, Psicosis in the main event, they’re kind of taking a step back this week before the Anniversary show.

52MX has expected (which means they have Rush/Loco Max on the wrong show; so dumb)
GDL has the expected (including Shocker loosening up and pulling off his shirt during the introduction, because he’s wrestling in the opener.)
LATV has expected.
YAY! Periquito!!!!
I’m worried. As soon as LATV starts getting on track we end up having weeks of repeats.
@Rob: so you’ve already noticed that Tzuki is supposed to be on next week
UGH! LATV’s blurring out people’s mouths when they’re talking. So annoying.
@thecubsfan: SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
GDL opens up with Magnum/Hierro vs Malefico/Rey Trueno.
Don’t see CMLL on C3 yet. Soccer right now.
It’s actually highlights of the ?youth olympics?. Realplayer feed is working though and starting with the segunda as usual.
GDL tag opener was excellent. They should try and use a new formula though. Rudos dominate, tecs comeback, tecs look good, double dives and finish gets annoying. I’m sure Palacio Negro vs Ebola will rock next Saturday!
@Rob: The dreaded moment… :(
Torneo wasn’t as good as last week. Too many slow moments and blown spots w/ the new guys. Aereo almost died on the first move he tried. Pequeno Halcon looked much better as a rudo that he does as a tecnico though. They should run with that.
However the final with Bam Bam vs Pierrothito was just FANTASTIC. Must-see. Makes me even more sad that Bam Bam lost…
@Rob:
Especially when either Demus or Pierrothito leave the minis division, they will need new rudos.
Who was the guy in all black that did the crazy dive into the 3rd row? That wasn’t Dragoncito was it?
ACM joined in progress. I think we’re starting with
6) Pedro Navajas b Rey Demonio Jr., Lover Boy, Pee Wee
I missed the beginning. I assume ACM started late due to Tigres beating Santos, which is a big deal.
The feed didn’t start late. That Lover Boy match ruled. Lots of dives. You should review it on your blog, Rob.
What did he say about the Psycho Circus?
He said Killer Clown is his cousin.
Well, first he said Monster Clown is his cousin. Maybe he forgot which gimmick his cousin is using.
The Natural Boyz!!!!
Androide & Rey Saigtario b Golden Boy & Simbolo.
Sounds like a good ACM show w/ flyers and a strong looking main event.
BTW Tim, I agree the mini’s division will need a new lead rudo no matter which guy wins on Tuesday. If they’re leaving Bam Bam in the division… why not him? He can pull it off.
I think that would be a good idea. They should also try to bring back Pequeno Halloween. I mean if Charly Manson can work both CMLL/LLUSA, why not Pequeno Halloween.
XEJ just joined CMLL TV w/ the 3rd fall of…
4) Felino, Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero b Charly Manson, Héctor Garza, Mr. Águila
Now we go backwards w/ Sagrado vs Texano Jr. coming up.
Yikes. Sagrado’s had better days. Quick match.
Starman was the mystery wrestler which proves we are only weeks away from Zayco as wrestler of the week.
@Rob: which will be a great moment for the rookie
CMLL really could air the entire Friday show if they wanted. The main event alone has had 15+ mins. worth of commercials and combine that with the carteleras/fan of the week you have 25-30 mins extra to play with.
So AAA starts almost 10 mins early. Perhaps to give a little extra time to Verano de Escandalo.
I’ll predict 3.7 for CMLL and 4.5 for AAA.
Watching Mascara Dorada, Sombra, and Volador, is like watching Rey, Juvi, and Nicho in their prime 1993-1998.
Upcoming television tapings for AAA
9/5 Palenque de Pachuca
9/19 Ecatepec
@LLL: CMLL TV started 10-15 minutes early which is why AAA is starting early too.
Dorada did an incredible springboard rana this week. The guy is incredible. I wonder if he’ll be the guy Lyger takes back to New Japan with him? Would CMLL even allow him to be gone for an extended period?
I’m thinking they made CMLL start early so AAA could have 2 hours 10 minutes for VdE.
When did Aerostar start coming out to Super Fly’s music?
CMLL definitely has the best talent roster in North America. Maybe the world.
@LLL: No doubt they do. But then you look at the Anniversary lineup and think what a waste it is when they can’t even use their roster to their advantage.
They just announced matches for “week 2” of VdE.
Yeah, the anniversary lineup is kind of weak.
@LLL: I don’t mind the lineup from a wrestling perspective since all the matches will be good. I just don’t know if that’s the best use of a roster of 100+ wrestlers on the biggest show of the year. It just screams lazy when you put all your top guys in a cage with the last guy losing. Very unoriginal.
Jushin Lyger should be allowed to dance in the next season of Bailando Por Un Sueno.
