IWRG (THU) 07/01 Arena Naucalpan [Black Terry Jr. (flickr), Estrellas del Ring]
1) Epidemia b Guizmo
2) Héros & Tonatiuh DCO Dark Devil & Imposible
3) Comando Negro, Eterno, Hijo del Signo b Brazo Metalico, Daga, Eragon
4) Avisman, El Hijo del Diablo, Gringo Loco DCO Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro
5) Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown DQ Máscara Año 2000, Trauma I, Veneno

If you recall, Pirata Morgan and Hijo were originally in the main event, but then replaced by Trauma I and Veneno. In this match, the IWRG team won the first fall, but Veneno was hurt in the process. Pirata Morgan appeared replaced him in the match, but the rest of the trio was confused by this and Psycho pinned Trauma I to tie it up. Trauma I was now injured, so Veneno decided ot come take his place, and fouled Psycho for the DQ.

Both the 2nd and the 4th ended in draws, though the 4th seemed more a product of a brawl and the 2nd reads more like dives gone bad.

Previews of today’s CMLL show: Ovaciones, ESTO, SuperLuchas. Back when this lineup was announced, CMLL wouldn’t have known if Mexico would still be alive this weekend. Turns out they’re not and the TV show won’t be running against football (even if it’s moved up a half hour again), but I’d suspect they’re not going to do anything huge this week either. They could set up a singles match off the Pesta Negra vs Shocker/Sombra/Mistico rematch, but no answers to the big question.

With less hype, because it’s going on in southern Mexico, AAA resumes taping this weekend. Tonight’s taping has Chessman & LA Park vs Wagner & La Parka, as well as the first return matches for Halloween & Damian, and Sunday has the LA Park vs La Parka rematch. Parka should be evening the score up this weekend, but that may not be the case if AAA’s still trying to convince Park to lose his mask.

Perros del Mal announced Hijo del Santo will be working their show at the Lucha Libre Expo. Santo as Hijo del Rey Misterio’s surprise partner to take on Los Perros makes sense, if that’s what they’re doing. Perros del Mal’s newest podcast is also up, with interviews with Super Crazy and Mexican National Heavyweight Champion X-Fly. Super Crazy is headed back to Japan for the AJPW’s Junior Heavyweight league, 07/25 to 08/08, which means he won’t be around for the Perros del Mal expo show.

Also for the expo: Fabian el Gitano is very excited before his stripping show, promising surprise wrestler inclusions.

Teleformula appears to be posting episodes of Lucha Mania on it’s own website. Their website makes direct links tricky, but you can get to the video by clicking on the video link on this page. There’s a podcast link, but it just froze up the computer I tried. This past week’s video is longer than the episode actually aired, so it probably has the missing Mascara/Averno fall. I just skimmed thru, and it appears CMLL (and probably IWRG before them) are not just ending their shows five seconds after the last pinfall, that’s just the way Teleformula has decided to air them.

Dos de Tres posts a story from it’s most recent edition, teasing Mesias’ retirement. He’s probably not retiring, but that shoulder is keeping him out longer than expected.

Fanboy Gaming has an interview with Immersion’s Project Designer for Heroes del Ring, Mateo Rojas. There’s one answer we’ve been looking for:

Mateo: We have plans to add some other luchadores through DLC though we haven’t cemented any confirmed DLC at this time. Remember if your favorite Lucha Libre character isn’t there, there´s also the possibility of the editor, as well.

DLC Atomic Boy! (or not.)

Dark Angel/Sarita turned rudo last night on TNA’s TV show, under their rule that all tag teams must turn on each other. CMLL’s mentioned when Sarah and Taylor Wilde won the Knockout Tag titles there, not sure if this gets mentioned.

Lo Mejor de Lucha Libre discusses a rumor of CMLL shows starting in Arena Coliseo Monterrey on Tuesdays.

Espaldas Planas has a video interview with Ultraman.

Ohtani’s Jacket reviews two last Gringos vs Terribles matches.

Monterrey, lucha in LA/Chicago, Hereos en el Ring on Wii/PSP

AAA (SUN) 06/27 Arena Coliseo Monterrey [RFC]
1) Rey Demonio Jr. b Babe Fox
2) El Brazo & Hailey Hatred b Jesse & Tiffany
3) Golden Boy, Rey Demonio Jr., Simbolo b Rió Bravo, Tigre Cota, Tito Santana
4) Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown b Aerostar, Laredo Kid, Súper Fly
5) El Elegido, Jack Evans, Octagón b Antifaz del Norte, Damián 666, Halloween

RFC has that semimain as win #15,656,541,551,516,514 for the Psycho Circus.

No word on the exact finish to that main event, but another show with Perros del Mal wrestlers did not end with a DQ: it ended with a double DQ.

Later this month, LuchaManiaUSA (FMLL) is running shows with name indy guys: it’s the Santo, Demon, Hijo de Rey, Rayo crew. They’re in Los Angeles on 07/17 and Chicago on 07/18. LA Park & Pirata Morgan are working LA, while Chicago gets Hijo de LA Park. Tickets don’t appear to be on sale in LA, but the Congress’ website says they’re $15 GA+$3 handling for Chicago. Thinking about going, but there are some tedious people on that lineup. The website says these are part of a 2010 tour also including Las Vegas, San Fransico, Milwaukee, and “Texas, TX”.

Cronicas Y Leyendas looks back at Loco Zandokan, as well as Enrique Vera and Dos Caras as UWA champion.

Estrellas del Ring has a video interview with el Signo.

In a video Psicosis III hypes up his match with the Traumas in DTU, but this is more notable for actually seeing Psicosis III for the first time in a while

Gamer Vision has an interview with the leader designer of the PSP/Wii version of Heroes en el Ring. The pictures include Psycho Circus themed arena that looks awesome. I want AAA to build it and hold all their TV there, ASAP. Also, news you can use: (emphasis mine)

Lucha libre hosts some of the most diverse and insane division that wrestling has to offer, including a very deep female division and a “Mini” division for fighters shorter than 5 feet. We chose to focus on the main feud between Tecnicos and Rudos, since they are the most popular, and adding some female fighters to the roster, leaving the midgets for future incarnations of the game.

Fabi Apache, Wii exclusive?

Future Shipwreck interviews lucha libre photographer Marc Smith, illustrated with great photos from a recent Lucha Va Voom show.

Kcidis draws the biggest possible match for the Anniversary show.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news recap and an EAW press release on their referee (really.) These EAW press releases are of very tiny news value, but it is a smart way to prevent EAW from disappearing from everyone’s minds when they’re running one show every two months.

07/03-04 Lucha Times

box. One return from World Cup hiatus! Possibly not the one you want.

AAA-US: Part 1 of TripleMania, with the minis match, the women’s match, the four way tag and Wagner/Electroshock. I look forward to “flipping channels and saw Go Shiozaki on lucha libre, how weird” tweets this weekend.

52MX: Women’s match, and Yoshihashi’s debut on this show.

LATV: probably a rerun

CMLL-GDL: next show in line had a Mascara/Terrible/UG vs Asesino/Maximo/Porky relevos, but who knows.

—-

CMLL: the 3 of the top 4 that aren’t the women’s match. Pesta Negra vs Sombra/Mistico/Shocker

AAA-MEX: the first post-TripleMania taping, with the Legion vs 187/Cibernetico

Fox: notInfernales/Dr. X vs Dimante/Fuego/Rush, and Lyger & the Dinamitas vs Maximo, Porky and La Mascara in a match that actually happened.

C3: More Demus/Bam Bam

Puebla: still not on the schedule

Monterrey: Is it on? Is not on? I dunno. I’m guessing still off for World Cup.

Perros: back on the schedule! probably back still on the DF show.

CMLL-TFN: up to 07/03, so the Euforia/Okumura/Virus vs Maximo/Metro/Mictlan match might be an unaired one to slip thru.
