07/03-04 video links

My policy is not to include download links for any show which is already available on-demand on the internet. It’s much better for people to use those sites to watch the shows, because each download there is a vote in favor of keeping the show on the air. I won’t be putting Guadalajara up on download sites, but I will try to give a link to it and there is plenty of software and browser add-ons for you to download the file itself if you want.

Links

AAA aired part 1 of TripleMania, and there are plenty of download links for that already. My TiVo didn’t record 100% Lucha due to conflicts; it should be recorded. LATV remains a rerun; I believe they’ve stopping purchasing episodes again due to issues.

My listings say Once TV International is airing “Zona de Combat” (reruns AULL or IWRG) at 6pm today. Online listings do not reflect this, so I think it’s just a data error.

2010 AAA TV Chart
Projected Air Date (#947)
Mexico: 07/25
US: 08/07

The article says over 6,000 people showed up, but they have some slight errors elsewhere in the article.

Aerostar took Laredo Kid’s spot. After he and Super Fly lost, Super Fly was angry with his partner. Here we go again! I guess Octagon only made peace with  Fly & Laredo, not Aero.

Pimpi was about to kiss Alex when Alex stopped him and superkicked him for the win. This was the last ‘week’ of Mari’s time as a maid, so she attacked the rudas after the match. Alex attacked back, and Aerostar ran out for the save.

Alex came back to work the tercera, subbing for Chessman. Lucky for him, it was a short match. Unluckily for the tecnicos, it was short because Rocky Romero turned on them, joining the Legion. Later in the show, Joaquin vowed to make Rocky regret joining the Legion. It seems like he’s getting the cruiserweight match at Verano, so I don’t believe he’ll regret it all that much.

Damian pinned Nicho clean with the la valagueza to take the semimain.

The main event had plenty of shenanigan – Piero, Hijo de Tirantes, Konnan, and Super Crazy all got involved for one side or another- but Parka got his pinfall, the only tecnico win of the night. Legion & Perros ran in post match, AAA ran them off.

AAA mentioned the next couple of tapings on TV this past Sunday
07/25 – Mexico City (Expo) – a three week break.
07/29 – Toluca

Also, Verano was announced as 08/14, a week later than originally mentioned. That means they’ve still got to announce an early August taping as the usual lame duck show.

AAA hasn’t announced any matches for Verano yet, though it’s not difficult to guess a lineup. The Lucha Libre Expo taping looks to be very important; that’s the show people are going to see a couple weeks before the event, so they’ve got to make the top matches very clear by then.

Ultimo Guerrero/Psicosis, Miss Gaviota unmasked, Heroes del Ring pushed back?

CMLL (SUN) 07/04 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [InformadorFuego en el Ring]
1) NocturnoQuca
2) Javier Cruz Jr. & MagnumEbola & Templario
3) Dark Angel & SiluetaLa Comandante & Seuxis
4) Atlantis, Averno, Rey BucaneroLa Máscara, La Sombra, Máscara Dorada
5) Último GuerreroPsicosis

UG won the first fall, Psi took the second with a powerbomb and his feet on the ropes, Guerrero got his own pin with feet on the ropes in the third.

In repeats of previous weeks, Averno beat Dorada and requested a shot for the Super Lightweight championship, while Silueta and Seuxis continue to feud in the women’s matches.

IWRG (SUN) 07/04 Arena Naucalpan [Estrellas del Ring]
1) Comando NegroMixteco Jr.
2) Eterno & Hijo del SignoEragon & Hijo del Pantera
3) Canek Jr., Gringo Loco, Kung Fu Jr.Chico Che, Eterno, Suicida
4) Bobby Lee Jr., Hijo de Pierroth (IWRG), Máscara Año 2000 Jr.Jack, Scorpio Jr., Veneno [lumberjack strap match]
5) Miss GaviotaPasion KristalMantraDiva SalvajeNygmaSexy Gladys [cage, hair, mask]

Subs all over the place: Mantra for May Flowers (not working out the rest of his matches), Jack sort of getting Hijo del Cien Caras’ spot, Eterno in for Centauro, and Canek Jr. as an announced apparent for the tercera.

Pasion Kristal beat Miss Gaviota to win the cage match. IWRG loses to everyone. Miss Gaviota gave his name as Wendy Martinez Cabrera. Link has the unmasked photo.

Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. snuck in a foul on Scorpio Jr. Gringo Loco celebrated US Independence Day with his own cheating to win.

CMLL has Diamante working the second match on Friday, instead of two Molotovs.

Gamestop now lists Heroes del Ring as coming out October 12, which would be a two month delay.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

Invasors/Angels, lineups

CMLL (SUN) 07/04 Arena Coliseo [@cmllmagazine]
1) Bengala & HorusCamorra & Cholo
2) Hooligan, Nitro, SkándaloFabián el Gitano, Pegasso, Rey Cometa
3) Ángel Azteca Jr., Ángel de Oro, Ángel de Plata DQ Histeria, Monsther, Oriental
4) Ephesto, Texano, VangelisHijo del Fantasma, Metro, Toscano
5) Brazo de Plata, Místico, ShockerJushin Liger, Mephisto, Mr. Niebla

Fabian replaced Tony Rivera, who’s been showing up on a lot of outside bookings lately. Nitro beat Fabian for the win, and probably should teach Dr. X how to accomplish that.

Not really high on the Invasors losing to the Angeles if we’re still supposed to be taking them seriously as a top threat, but it happened in a smart way. The rudos tossed Angel de Oro over the top rope in the third fall, which isn’t called a DQ any place outside of CMLL. Invasors should be claiming ignorance. It does seem like this isn’t the end of this feud.

Not a lot about the top 2. Texano got Fantasma for the deciding pinfall in the semimain. I suspect there was a Mistico/Liger challenge in the main event.

LuchaLibreAAA.com is down because they forgot to renew the domain. Someone probably stopped using whatever email address they used to sign up for it, never got a reminder notice, and didn’t know it was expiring out until it stopped working today. (I am familiar with this sequence of events happening to others.) They should be back as soon as they get the right person to answer an email – and they still have http://triplea.com.mx/ if they want to use a different domain. In theory, the domain is open to anyone to buy one it expires, but domain companies usually hold onto it for 30 days in case something like this happens. More than you wanted to know!

Prior to his singles match with Ultimo Guerrero, Psicosis was excited to prove he was as good as Ultimo Guerrero, though he’d prefer to have a fair referee like Tirantes officiate the match.

Cronicas Y Leyendas has a photo of a bloody Ray Mendoza in California.

DJ Spectro has a look back at Lou Thesz vs Canek, a match which actually occurred, Aguila del America in 1985, and posts video of some Pavillion Azteca matches.

SuperLuchas has an interview with Oaxaca’s Vuelo Especial. #371 of the magazine has an exclusive interview with Rey Misterio.

Also, in his own interview, Dr. X suggests a cage match with Sensei, Angel de Oro, Angel de Plata, Angel Azteca, Diamante, Fabian el Gitano Puma King, Tiger Kid, and los Cancerberos. That was probably about what the match – should happen sometime in August, maybe as one of the Fan Appreciation shows – was scheduled to be at the time, though Dr. X probably should’ve mentioned his Tuareg amigos (?) as possibilities. The theme is young tecnicos vs old rudo, the names are always subject to adjustment. Now, between the finish in the terecera today, and the lineup below, there may be a third group (or at least an expansion in contest of the second group.)

Lineups

IWRG (THU) 07/08 Arena Naucalpan
1) Héros vs Dark Devil
2) Eragon & Super Halcon Jr. vs Fishman Jr. & Hijo del Signo
3) Avisman, El Hijo del Diablo, Gringo Loco vs Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro
4) Jack Evans, Laredo Kid, Súper Fly vs Dr. Cerebro, Freelance, Suicida
5) Máscara Año 2000 & Veneno vs Hijo de Pirata Morgan & Pirata Morgan

Even though we might see the match, I’m entertained by the semimain match occurring at all. Main event builds off the finish this past week; Piratas have now down as many tag feuds after having the tag titles as they did while having the titles.

AAA (SAT) 07/10 Arena Neza
1) Mini Charly Manson & Octagoncito vs Mini Histeria & Mini Psicosis
2) Aerostar & Fabi Apache vs Billy Boy & Sexy Star
3) Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown vs Cuervo, Escoria, Ozz
4) La Parka Jr., Octagón, Pimpinela Escarlata vs Electroshock, Silver King, Último Gladiador

AAA’s running Arena Neza. Someone should.

IWRG (SUN) 07/11 Arena Naucalpan
1) Eragon, Hijo del Pantera, Super Halcon Jr. vs Crazy Star (M), Imposible, Magia Negra
2) Bobby Lee Jr., Chico Che, Miss Gaviota vs Canek Jr., Kung Fu Jr., Trauma I
3) Centauro, Pantera, Veneno vs Fuerza Guerrera, Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Oficial Fierro
4) Extreme Tiger, Gato Eveready, La Parka Jr. vs Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Oficial 911, Pirata Morgan

Crazy Star (M) because I assume it’s not the former CMLL women. They’ve both been active in the DF indies at the same time, I wonder if one ever gets calls for the others.  Kind of odd to have the Oficials in separate matches and Pirata teaming with Mascara Jr. while he’s feuding with Mascara Sr. I’m guessing the IWRG crowd will not be big fans of Parka, but I’m not sure.

CMLL (SUN) 07/11 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) El Divino & Meteoro vs Cerveruz & Quca
2) Javier Cruz Jr. & Metatrón vs Infierno & Templario
3) Lady Apache & Silueta vs Amapola & Seuxis
4) Hijo del Fantasma, Toscano, Valiente vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto

Card subject to change. Silueta/Seuxis continue to feud.

CMLL (SUN) 07/11 Arena Coliseo
1) Camaleón & Principe vs Disturbio & Mortiz
2) Dalys la Caribeña, Lluvia, Luna Mágica vs La Comandante, Princesa Sujei, Yeska
3) Ángel de Oro, Ángel de Plata, Fabián el Gitano vs Maniaco, Monsther, Oriental
4) Blue Panther, La Sombra, Volador Jr. vs Atlantis, Felino, Negro Casas
5) Brazo de Plata, Místico, Shocker vs Héctor Garza, Texano Jr., Último Guerrero

Angels & Fabian continue to feud with the Invasors, which seems to put those rudos – and not the Canceberos or other Tuareg – in line for the cage match.

Of course, Oriental can only put his mask on the line in a cage match in August if he doesn’t lose it next Monday. They can always sub someone else in this feud for Oriental and everyone’s not always on the same page about who’s going to be available when. However, and not solely because of one result and one lineup, I’m less certain events are occurring as I thought they would. I still think Mistico is beating Oriental for his mask, and I still think it’ll happen in Nuevo Laredo. It just may not happen in July.

07/02 AAA TV Results (Carmen, Campeche)

AAA TV (FRI) 07/02 Domo del Mar, Ciudad del Carmen, Campeche [@dorianroldan, AAA]
1) Billy Boy, Jennifer Blade, Tigre Cota b Laredo Kid, Mari Apache, Súper Fly
2) Alex Koslov & Christina Von Eerie b Aerostar & Fabi Apache [AAA MIXED TAG]
3) Damián 666 & Halloween b Jack Evans & Rocky Romero
4) Joe Lider & Nicho el Millionario DQ Hernandez & Zorro
5) Dr. Wagner Jr. & La Parka Jr. b Chessman & LA Park

2010 Air Date chart
Projected Air Date (#946)
Mexico: 07/18
US: 07/31

The top two matches worked off each other. Zorro was DQed for excessive use of the cane (there’s excessive use? and you can get disqualified for it? Piero was ref) and Hermandad were left laying, so Lider returned to attack Chessman in the main event. Parka picked up the win, and Lider & Nicho ran off the Legion/Perros after the match.

Jack & Rocky had issues in their loss. Next challenger?

Mari Apache was at ringside, as a maid for the rudo team, for the title match. She wouldn’t cheat for the rudos, so Blake attacked her, Fabi was distracted, and Von Eerie pinned her with a bridge to win the titles.

Tecnicos lost the opener when Blake ordered Mari to foul Laredo, and Billy Boy finished Super Fly with the Cop Killa. That’s Homicide’s name for the move, AAA can’t seem to find the time to give their own.

Sombra & Mistico, new AAA champs, Perros

CMLL (FRI) 07/02 Arena Mexico [@cmllmagazine, SuperLuchas]
1) Metálico & Tigre Blanco b Disturbio & Semental
2) Fabián el Gitano, Molotov, Sensei b Arkangel de la Muerte, Puma King, Tiger Kid
3) Fuego b Cancerbero [lighting]
4) Amapola, Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sujei b Lady Apache, Luna Mágica, Marcela
5) La Máscara, Máximo, Toscano b Jushin Lyger, Shigeo Okumura, Yoshihashi
6) La Sombra, Místico, Shocker DQ Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas

Shocker & Mistico where wearing matching outfits. At least they were, until Mr. Niebla pulled Sombra’s mask for the DQ. Two straight weeks with those two in the finish, which should indicate next week’s main event. (It doesn’t, different direction.) The Mistico/Sombra best buddies bit is the programming equivalent of Chessman’s moonsault. There’s no teasing it, there’s no letting the fans anticipate the union, they just jumped ahead to being friends in such a way to make it mean less.

Semimain tecnico win is a slight upset.

Second match was a sweep for the tecnicos. Rudos ripped up masks in the first, but got pinned there and the second. This week, they were setting up a Fabian/Sensei vs Puma/Tiger mask match, just days after trying to get a Angel de Oro/Puma King feud over in press release. This feud is the opposite, all tease and no action. It’s like a booking version of Golidlocks and the Three Bears, except we don’t get that bed that’s just right too often.

Masked Warriors: the Lucha Libre USA group on MTV2 will be taping in the 18,000 seat Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas on 08/07. Tickets are in the usual range, $20 at the cheapest, $58 for the closest. Since both tapings had everyone move closer to the ring, and neither of those tapings cracked 300 people (1/60th of capacity of this building), I’m thinking you should buy the cheap tickets.

The TV is going to have to be a huge, dramatic success for this show to work. AAA did not do well in similar size buildings, and they were coming in with more recognizable names. The other two tapings proved that just putting lucha libre on the billboard wasn’t enough to draw. This is all reliant on the TV show being something people really want to see live. The promotion and/or the network doesn’t seem that excited about the TV taped so far, or they wouldn’t have shown so little of it and so much of the AAA footage. I’d like to see everyone do well, but this is ridiculousness.

By my count, Masked Warriors doesn’t actually have enough tapings to make it to this 08/07 taping. At 3 episodes a taping, they’re out of footage by 07/27. There’s been no mention of a July taping and it sounds like there won’t be one.

Friday night AAA TV: It looks like neither Dos de Tres or AAA’s website made the trip to Carmen for the taping. When Dorian Roldan wasn’t busy arguing with Rob – I am not making that up – he did mention Alex & Christina won the mixed tag titles. There was talk in a recent Wrestling Observer about AAA being unhappy with Rain and Von Eerie likely getting her spot, and that seems to be the deal there. I’ve thought Blade was the lesser of the two Gringas Locas, but Rain has seemed to slip of late. Also, Halloween & Damian beat Jack & Rocky, as expected. I’ll do a separate post with full results if/when they come in.

I’d like to pretend that Dorian handed his phone off to someone, and actually did have better things to do during an AAA TV taping than to go back and forth with Rob on Aerostar. There’s surely dead time to do to tweet during an AAA show (that’s when I return emails), but you’d hope the guy who supposed to be running the place has his focus elsewhere. Maybe I’ve made a false assumption in this paragraph. I will say, it was a nice change of pace from Dorian’s normally quite boring twitter posts of complaining about travel and chatting back and forth with girls.

Ras de Lona did not have much news. Dragon Rojo’s injury is to his lower back. They played Mistico’s challenge to Lyger for a title match in Guadalajara, so that may actually be happening.

Perros del Mal hyped Heddi Karou (unknown guy from France, presumably a different group than the one Sangre Azteca works with), Naruto (Brazilian, I think, based on the phone number they left on the picture for who knows what reason; tough to research a guy with that name), Ragde and Pesdailla for the Lucha Libre Expo show. That sounds like a tag amtch.

Laredo Kid taught his first class at his wrestling school, with guest instructor Aerostar. Both pitch as something for the kids to do while they’re on summer vacation. Laredo mentions his brothers, also luchadors, will lead the classes when he’s not around. The plural is interesting, since we Oscuridad is the only brother we know of.

Newspaper recap of an AAA show in Durango says the attendance was bad, as was the main event.

LLF canceled their show last night due to Hurricane Alex.

Estrellas del Ring has an interview with returning Morelos area wrestler Starbick.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

Lineup

CMLL hasn’t posted their lineups, but Ras de Lona had Friday’s as

CMLL (FRI) 07/09 Areno Mexico
1) Bengala & Horus vs Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Molotov, Molotov, Sensei vs Durango Kid, Puma King, Tiger Kid
3) Mascarita Dorada vs Pierrothito [lighting]
4) Máximo, Sagrado, Valiente vs Shigeo Okumura, Vangelis, Yoshihashi
5) Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas vs Averno, Jushin Lyger, Mephisto
6) La Máscara, La Sombra, Volador Jr. vs Héctor Garza, Mr. Águila, Olímpico

Negro vs Lyger, finally. Garza, not with the invaders, teams with the invaders. And Volador is a tecnico unless he’s facing Mistico, unless there’s a turn here.

CMLL (SAT) 08/28 Domo Polideportivo, Zona 13, Guatemala
1) Pegasso & Slayer vs Asesno & Loco Max
2) Ángel de Oro & Ángel de Plata vs Puma King & Tiger Kid
3) Rayo Chapin, Toscano, Voltron vs Cancerbero, Raziel, Virus
4) Hijo del Fantasma & Valiente vs Dragón Rojo Jr. & Sangre Azteca
5) Máscara Dorada, Místico, Shocker vs Héctor Garza, Terrible, Texano

Retry for this show, which was canceled the first time. Lineup is a little shuffled but basically the same guys.

CMLL (FRI) 07/02 Arena Mexico [@cmllmagazine]
