CMLL (FRI) 07/30 Arena Mexico [SuperLuchas, Fuego en el Ring, Cesar, @cmllmagazine]
1) Camorra & Súper Comando b Horus & Leono
2) Ángel Azteca Jr., Ángel de Oro, Ángel de Plata DQ Arkangel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Skándalo
3) Charly Manson, Héctor Garza, Mr. Águila b Felino, Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero
4) Máscara Dorada b Stuka Jr. [CMLL Universal, eightfinal]
5) Último Guerrero b Averno [CMLL Universal, eightfinal]
6) La Sombra b Mephisto [CMLL Universal, eightfinal]
7) Texano Jr. b Ephesto [CMLL Universal, eightfinal]
8) Último Guerrero b Máscara Dorada [CMLL Universal, quarterfinal]
9) La Sombra b Texano [CMLL Universal, quarterfinal]
10) La Sombra b Último Guerrero [CMLL Universal, semifinal]
11) Místico b Psicosis
Tirantes was the scheduled referee for the main event, but Mistico complained to the commission. Commission agreed and sent Tirantes to the back, which greatly angered Tirantes. Tigre Hispano refereed the match. Psicosis won the first fall, but Mistico won falls two and three to take the match. Mistico asked for a mask match again, but Psicosis said they must have a title match before he’d consider it. The story is, Mistico doesn’t have a title (the IWRG and WWA ones are being treated as if they don’t exist), so this is a stalling tactic and maybe Mistico needs to win a title really soon.
Alebrije and the Mini Head Hunters were seen in the crowd, watching the main event.
Ultimo Guerrero ran thru the first two rounds of CMLL Universal Tournament Block A by dropping Averno & Mascara Dorada with Guerrero Specials. He had one more for Sombra in the semifinal, but Sombra shockingly kicked out, Ultimo Guerrero freaked out, and Sombra rolled him up to take this block. Most matches were around 4 minutes, though Texano’s matches were shorter and the semifinal went about 9. No sign of any breakup in the Ephesto/Texano match.
Rey Bucanero has a new parrot mascot. For real.
Second went straight falls when Loco Max fouled Angel de Oro.
Lucha Libre USA announced yesterday that Carlito Colon would part of their Las Vegas taping, next week.
Ras de Lona was all about interviewing the guys in yesterday’s Universal tournament, which is less useful if you already know who won. At least everyone had their belt (though Dorada only seemed to have 1.) They also had bits from the expo and from Sangre Azteca in Spain. There was also a segment with the surviving members of Peste Negra; Mr. Niebla’s name was mentioned for the first time in weeks, and I think they said Niebla is on vacation (but it was a comedy segment.) Rey was introduced as an ally of Pestea Negra, but not a member.
Cibernetico is in a new Burger King commerical.
CMLL.com has added the PWR Women’s Championship to it’s list of titles.
Cronicas Y Leyendas looks back at Solitario vs Erick Embry.
Dos de Tres has a feature on Pimpinela.
Lineup
CMLL (FRI) 08/06 Arena Mexico
1) Bengala & Starman vs Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Eléctrico, Fantasy, Tzuki vs Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Universo 2000, Pequeño Violencia
3) Blue Panther, Sagrado, Toscano vs Felino, Pólvora, Shigeo Okumura
4) Jushin Lyger vs Metro, Volador Jr., Héctor Garza, Mr. Águila, La Máscara, Negro Casas, Valiente [CMLL Universal, tournament]
5) La Sombra, Místico, Shocker vs El Alebrije, Olímpico, Psicosis
More Psicosis/Mistico. Do Alebrije & Cuije still have the AAA Mascot tag titles? Mistico/Monito vs Alebrije/Cuije!
It’s probably Lyger or Volador, though Garza, Aguila, or Negro Casas would not be unthinkable.
Ras de Lona announced 08/08’s main event as Mistico, Rayo, Texano, Terrible vs Volador, Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Super Porky in a Relevos Increíbles match for Arena Mexico.

post was delayed due to ongoing negotiations for a mediawiki api expert before the deadline. Somehow, we ended up with Blake Dewitt?
@thecubsfan: He doesn’t hit.
Give me a rundown on what to expect from Lilly and Theriot. As a Dodger fan, I don’t expect much and I’m already counting down the days for Lakers preseason.:)
@Alfredo: Lilly is a gamer who gives up too many homeruns. Theriot used to be quite useful, but has imploded the last 18 months. He’ll hit a ton of singles, but has no power, won’t take enough walks, will get thrown out running the bases, and is just an OK defender.
watching AAA on Galavision. The lighting is horrible again. They were using stage lamps(Parcan 64’s) for a long time. Now it looks like they are going back to their old ways using flood lamps resulting in those terrible shadows in the ring. Television execs see that crap and hate it. That’s the real reason Telefutura and Univision never gave AAA a chance. Production.
I hope this isn’t permanent.
Yeah but isn’t that the 7/2 taping? Those tapings in Merida and the surronding areas are always awful b/c they tape in the middle of the day with the sun at it’s brightest. I remember the 2007 taping where half the ring was in the shade and the other was barely visible due to the sun. So annoying.
52MX has the expected.
Teleformula starting at 3 past the hour! And with the full open! Maybe someone got thru to Teleformula?
Sounds like the expected show there from GDL too.
Also looks like a Tuesday @ Arena Mexico level of attendance. Many more empty seats than the last few shows.
@thecubsfan: I sent them an angry email in dark blue, comic sans font! :)
They showed the show intro too. Sadly, more Maximo on this show.
You’d think a stip match would have drawn more people. Hmph.
Not related to TV news: Arena Mexico looked packed last night. Lots of photos show people sitting in the upper deck which has been a rarity for quite a while.
@Rob: This is the 07/06 taping, so Maximo/Sagrado vs Garza/Texano main event, no stip. And Angels/Stuka vs Cancerbero/Okumura/Yoshihashi semimain.
And not really a surprise with that lineup.
@thecubsfan: Oops. Confused this show with the other show that tapes on the same days. My bad.
New episode of LATV from 6/6
Palacio Negro & JIMMY Neutron open up GDL TV.
I am perfectly okay with the opener every week just being a Palacio Negro showcase.
Jimmy Neutron might be fat but he’s still hitting all his great spots. Where is Henrik???
Either I keep loading C3 during commercials or there is some program pre-empting it.
Jesus christ. If you loved his TV debut you will be shitting yourself after this match Cubs.
What a performance.
C3 is working fine for me.
Wait till you see Shockercito almost die on LATV today Rob. That was insane.
@thecubsfan: I’m just bummed that the Cajun Connection’s been broken up. :(
@Tim: Shockercito? Damn. I was hoping you mistyped and it was the 6/4 show.
C3 will air the CMLL Expo show tomorrow at a time to be determined when I am finally able to pay attention to the graphic that keeps popping up.
Also, Rey Cometa FTW.
It’ll air at 12:00 – Mexico City time. So 1pm est. Assuming the full show will fit.
Great finish to the Fuerza RaPiDa match!
ACM starting late due to futbol.
Pancho Tequila vs Zombie Sangre Chicana from 04/18
@thecubsfan: Wait, didn’t realize there were people on the apron. Hmmm.
Okay, I am now going with
07/25: Jaque Mate, Justiciero, Shu el Guerrero vs Centurion Negro, Karonte, Sangre Chicana
ABSOLUTELY FRIGHTENING.
I guess your main event is Tony Rivera, Fishman Jr. and Canek Jr. in the same ring. Just turn the TV off now.
Zombie Chicana is right up there with Villano III as the two saddest wrestlers in the world right now. Can’t believe two guys who accomplished as much as they did are now completely broke and have to resort to taking every booking thrown at them to afford drinking money for the night. Embarassing.
@Rob: Yep, it is that match. Never realized how skinny Magnifico (in his Bret Hart outfit) is.
Announcers may be playing with their kids instead of paying attention this match.
CMLL TV opens up with the tournament. No battle royale.
@Rob: What ended up airing from the Expo – just the top 4?
@thecubsfan: Didn’t watch.
@Rob @thecubsfan I was able to watch it and yes, Cadena Tres showed top 4 and visits to the stands (including Blue Demon Jr and Hijo del Santo quick interviews).
@conjuarez: Thanks! Shame the mini’s didn’t make the cut and weird to see Santo/Demon do an interview for a CMLL show. Maybe he didn’t know who was interviewing him.
Just turned on AAA and saw women in the ring so I presume the mini’s from the Expo got cut. AAA seems to be sticking with 4 matches per week which means the hyped return of Atomic Boy to TV in Toluca is not going to happen after all.
@Rob: You are welcome. I would have missed it if it wasn’t for your kind twitter post :)
I believe both of them knew that it was a CMLL show. Hijo del Santo mentioned that he encountered Shocker, Hector Garza, etc (names from CMLL roster) and they all greeted him nicely.
Blue Demon Jr seemed confortable enough being hugged by the commentators and no, Katia de la Cuesta was not doing the interview :P
@Rob: I am sorry in my last post I did not mention that the AAA show started with minis.
I stayed out of curiosity (not being their fan) but was discouraged after Elegido’s dance and butt shot. He is good looking but it is too obvious and degrading.
“La Sombra b Último Guerrero [CMLL Universal, semifinal]” I’m not going to lie to you, I would be shocked if Volador Jr. did not win block B of the torneo next week. With La Sombra winning block A, it’s most likely the finals will Sombra vs Volador. Which hopefully the outcome leading to a Volador Jr. rudo turn, & the return of Volador vs Mistico just in time for the Aniversario. BUt what do I know, I’ve been wrong multiple times this year & almost guarantee I will be wrong again. :)
@conjuarez: Thanks! Good to know I can still hope for Atomic Boy next week!
@Calabcd44: I think the only two possible candidates to win next week are Volador Jr. and Lyger. It could go either way. I’m leaning more towards Lyger b/c he hasn’t done anything special on this CMLL run yet.
