CMLL (FRI) 06/11 Arena Mexico [SuperLuchas]
1) Metálico & Starman b Puma King & Tiger Kid
2) Ángel de Oro, Ángel de Plata, Rush b Cancerbero, Euforia, Raziel
3) Dragón Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca b Máscara Dorada, Metro, Stuka Jr.
4) Valiente b Virus [MEX WELTER]
5) Brazo de Plata, Rayo de Jalisco Jr., Shocker DQ Atlantis, Gigante Bernard, Último Guerrero
6) Héctor Garza, Olímpico, Volador Jr. DQ Hijo del Fantasma, Místico, Negro Casas [Relevos Increíbles]
Bad turnout. The World Cup did hurt. Mistico wore the team Mexico jersey during the match. I would’ve had the main event go to one fall to one fall time limit draw, but that’s why they don’t let me book things.
Volador worked complete rudo in the match, and had more support of the crowd this time. Fantasma was strechered out after a Garza dive, and Volador won the main by taking off his mask and tossing it to Mistico. Mistico and Volador made and accepted mask vs mask challenges, but this is a well traveled road and they’ve never reached the end.
Gigante Bernard’s winning streak ends with Atlantis fouling Rayo. That’s a, uh, different way of ending this. Straight fall win for the tecnicos, though Bernard was unpinned.
Valiente won the first fall of the title match, Virus with the second. Valiente gave Virus two of his layout gutbusters and covered in the third. Virus appeared to get a shoulder up before the three count, but was counted down anyway. While they didn’t make a big deal of this on Ras de Lona, they used the perfect angle to show Virus getting his shoulder up before the three count.
Poder Mexica challenged for another (their third) Mexican Trios title shot after their win and appear to be getting it.
Raziel was hurt in his match.
Sombra defeated Jushin Liger via countout in his final match of the BOSJ tournament. It was under five minutes, so it probably was not a lot of a match, but the comments I’ve heard sound like something spectacular happened. Sombra finishes 3-4, 6th in his block, but got the two scalps that mean the most (Tiger Mask & Liger) and impressed, so it was a definite positive experience. Plus, it was a fine time to be out of circulation, making us wait a little longer to figure out how he fits in with the ex-Super Sky Team. His match for the tour ending show tomorrow has not been announced yet.
Notes from Ras de Lona
- Lots of talk about Sin Salida (highlights from top 4 + sad, angry, bitter Taichi) and Mistico vs Volador.
- Fantasma challenged Garza to a mask vs hair match, so maybe they’re back to that over the Olimpico feud
- Latin Lover did a promo vs Garza, and was referred to by all just as “Latin”
- Negro Casas and Julio Cesar floated Jushin Liger vs Negro Casas in a hair vs mask match, which definitely has been talked about.
- Hype for Tuesday’s title match – they dug up the injury angle footage, Ephesto vowed to return to the hospital, and Bucanero said he was still the real champion. Match ended on ref stoppage, if your recall. Rey had his young daughter with him, who picked Bucanero to win the title match.
- Also promos for the Mex Trios feud – Misterioso is never there for these – and very quickly on Virus/Valiente.
- Demus talked about his name change and Lluvia talked about her tope gone quite wrong.
- Olimpico’s entrance video is all Olimpico lifting weights. Perfect!
Fuego en el Ring talks to Delta, who would like team up with Volador more. Maybe this interview is a bit dated.

CMLL (FRI) 06/18 Arena Mexico
1) Camaleón & Robin vs Camorra & Disturbio
2) Fabián el Gitano, Pegasso, Rey Cometa vs Dr. X, Hooligan, Loco Max
3) Princesa Sujei vs Amapola [lightning]
4) Máscara Dorada, Metro, Stuka Jr. vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca [MEX TRIOS]
5) Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara, Máximo vs Shigeo Okumura, Taichi, Yoshihashi
6) Blue Panther, La Sombra, Volador Jr. vs Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero
Yoshihashi is the NJPW trainee who CMLL.com announced was coming, then wiped the mention off their website. Interestingly, Ras de Lona also announced Lyger (they’re using the y this time?) for this same show, in Ultimo’s spot. I’m even more interested in what happened in that Sombra/Lyger match this time. CMLL.com just says that Lyger will be coming soon.
Volador is on the tecnico side, but I presume we start finding out if he’s staying there.
Someone fixed Demus’ name on the website.

Couple of things:
– Diamante replaced Angel De Plata.
– Fantasma went for a tope suicida and Garza moved which led to the stretcher job.
– Friday’s card is ridiculous.
– Sunday’s card is up on Luchas2000 but is another one of those placeholder lineups.

New Episode from 5/21 on LATV
2 trios matches?
@Rob: Minis match relampago and trios w/ Tuareg.
That finish was awesome, even if both had their shoulders on the mat for the three count, and they even said so in the commentary.
They also talked about the “good ol days” at Coliseo when it was 8 singles matches with 10-15 minute time limits.
@Alfredo: BOO. Mini’s relampago aired on main show.
I knew these shows would stop co-ordinating sooner or later and we’d end up missing matches.
With that said – I loved the mini’s relampago. Probably my favorite Lightning Match since they starting booked them again in late ’08.
@LLL: How do you explain the normal Televisa show and TDN airing the same match using different cameras?
@Rob: TDN, or LATV/MVS?
Post production. MVS and Televisa can pick the shots they want. Did you watch the lightning match on LATV tonight?
No opener on C3 again. Robin is bad luck.
@Rob: I just watched the Televisa version of the relampago match that just aired on LATV. Not sure how many camera shots were different, but it looked about the same, and I guess we’ll see for sure when Cubs uploads the show.
What did you notice that was different?
What really sucked was the way LATV went to a commercial break during the relampago match. That’s retarded.
@LLL: Sorry, my question was just in genereal – not refering to that match but I should have been more specific.
I’m refering to Televisa/TDN which I assume are the same group and thus would have the same footage but the other day I was watching the Arena Mexico 11/13/09 show and the same trios match aired on TDN as well as the regular CMLL Televisa show. Except I noticed when La Mascara did his frankensteiner on the ramp the TDN cameras completely missed it but the Televisa version had a much better camerashot of it. So I went and rewatched the match from both shows and there were lots of different camerashots used which makes no sense to me. Thus why I asked you.:) It seems absolutely retarded to have to edit the same match twice.
Looks like ACM is going to start a little late as some Futbol show is on. Hator> Futbol damn it.
@Rob: My guess is that TDN being live missed some good shots that were then edited before airing on Televisa. When it’s live, you’ll always miss good stuff, but catch it in the editing room for the taped edition.
@LLL: I thought TDN aired stuff on a 1-2 hour delay though so they’d have time to pass it through the editing room before sticking it on TV.
Tomorrow will be interesting to see what airs on CMLL and AAA.
CMLL aired Valiente/Virus last week + title challenge so gotta figure that gets chopped to death and stuck on TV. But what do you do with the Trios Champs vs Poder Mexica match which sets up the title match next week? Do you skip that and air the title match next week without any build? Or is that feud now an LATV exclusive? Would explain why a big title match is postioned in the 4th slot next Friday which is unusual.
Meanwhile AAA should be 5/31 in Leon and viewers will be looking forward to the Parka situation being cleared up. Both are in seperate matches on the show. And will the Secta get their match cut again?
@Rob: 1-2 hours might be too little time for them.
If LATV does not start getting more star power(top 3 Friday, or top 3 Tuesdsay), the whole thing will fall apart. Honestly, I have no problem with the Tuaregs and lightining matches, but at least show a segment dedicated entirely to the top feuds(Strongman vs. Giant Bernard, is Volador rudo?, Taichi vs. Maximo hair match.
The current LATV format, (Intro, part 1 lightning match, part 2 lighting match and girls dancing, fall 1, fall2, fall 3) is a formula doomed to fail, and helps explain why CMLL has never been known for ratings and compelling television.
Valiente vs Virus starts CMLL TV. Let’s see how horribly this gets edited.
Looks like Poder Mexica match is airing after this title match. Semi-main with Rayo and company got cut but maybe that’ll be the LATV “exclusive”. *cough*
cubsfan mentioned that on Ras de Lona Latin Lover was reffered to only as Latin. You’ll notice today on Televisa, Alfonso Morales refered to him as Latin Lover.
