Volador/Mistico, Bernard loses (sort of), Sombra

3) Dragón Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre AztecaMáscara Dorada, Metro, Stuka Jr.
4) ValienteVirus [MEX WELTER]
5) Brazo de Plata, Rayo de Jalisco Jr., Shocker DQ Atlantis, Gigante Bernard, Último Guerrero
6) Héctor Garza, Olímpico, Volador Jr. DQ Hijo del Fantasma, Místico, Negro Casas [Relevos Increíbles]

Bad turnout. The World Cup did hurt. Mistico wore the team Mexico jersey during the match. I would’ve had the main event go to one fall to one fall time limit draw, but that’s why they don’t let me book things.

Volador worked complete rudo in the match, and had more support of the crowd this time. Fantasma was strechered out after a Garza dive, and Volador won the main by taking off his mask and tossing it to Mistico. Mistico and Volador made and accepted mask vs mask challenges, but this is a well traveled road and they’ve never reached the end.

Gigante Bernard’s winning streak ends with Atlantis fouling Rayo. That’s a, uh, different way of ending this. Straight fall win for the tecnicos, though Bernard was unpinned.

Valiente won the first fall of the title match, Virus with the second. Valiente gave Virus two of his layout gutbusters and covered in the third. Virus appeared to get a shoulder up before the three count, but was counted down anyway. While they didn’t make a big deal of this on Ras de Lona, they used the perfect angle to show Virus getting his shoulder up before the three count.

Poder Mexica challenged for another (their third) Mexican Trios title shot after their win and appear to be getting it.

Raziel was hurt in his match.

Sombra defeated Jushin Liger via countout in his final match of the BOSJ tournament. It was under five minutes, so it probably was not a lot of a match, but the comments I’ve heard sound like something spectacular happened. Sombra finishes 3-4, 6th in his block, but got the two scalps that mean the most (Tiger Mask & Liger) and impressed, so it was a definite positive experience. Plus, it was a fine time to be out of circulation, making us wait a little longer to figure out how he fits in with the ex-Super Sky Team. His match for the tour ending show tomorrow has not been announced yet.

Notes from Ras de Lona

  • Lots of talk about Sin Salida (highlights from top 4 + sad, angry, bitter Taichi) and Mistico vs Volador.
  • Fantasma challenged Garza to a mask vs hair match, so maybe they’re back to that over the Olimpico feud
  • Latin Lover did a promo vs Garza, and was referred to by all just as “Latin”
  • Negro Casas and Julio Cesar floated Jushin Liger vs Negro Casas in a hair vs mask match, which definitely has been talked about.
  • Hype for Tuesday’s title match – they dug up the injury angle footage, Ephesto vowed to return to the hospital, and Bucanero said he was still the real champion. Match ended on ref stoppage, if your recall. Rey had his young daughter with him, who picked Bucanero to win the title match.
  • Also promos for the Mex Trios feud – Misterioso is never there for these – and very quickly on Virus/Valiente.
  • Demus talked about his name change and Lluvia talked about her tope gone quite wrong.
  • Olimpico’s entrance video is all Olimpico lifting weights. Perfect!

Fuego en el Ring talks to Delta, who would like team up with Volador more. Maybe this interview is a bit dated.

CMLL (FRI) 06/18 Arena Mexico
1) Camaleón & Robin vs Camorra & Disturbio
2) Fabián el Gitano, Pegasso, Rey Cometa vs Dr. X, Hooligan, Loco Max
3) Princesa Sujei vs Amapola [lightning]
4) Máscara Dorada, Metro, Stuka Jr. vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca [MEX TRIOS]
5) Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara, Máximo vs Shigeo Okumura, Taichi, Yoshihashi
6) Blue Panther, La Sombra, Volador Jr. vs Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero

Yoshihashi is the NJPW trainee who CMLL.com announced was coming, then wiped the mention off their website. Interestingly, Ras de Lona also announced Lyger (they’re using the y this time?) for this same show, in Ultimo’s spot. I’m even more interested in what happened in that Sombra/Lyger match this time. CMLL.com just says that Lyger will be coming soon.

Volador is on the tecnico side, but I presume we start finding out if he’s staying there.

Someone fixed Demus’ name on the website.
