Sombra, LA Park on not being La Parka, Perro

new Sunday Arena Mexico main event:
6) Máscara Dorada, Místico, Mr. Águila vs Averno, Negro Casas, Volador Jr. [Relevos Increíbles]
Sombra (and Felino) are off the card.

In an interview with Reforma reposted on El Martiente, LA Park explains he’s going to keep calling himself LA Park. Park feels he’s proven his point about who was the better Parka by winning the match, and since La Parka Jr. won’t be using that name, there will no longer be any confusion. That actually makes a little bit of sense, but if the point of the match is the winner gets to be La Parka, the winner really needs to be La Parka. This seems like an explanation of why he won’t be using the La Parka name anywhere outside of AAA, because it’s still an AAA name. LA Park also says he thought Dorian turned on him, but looking back at it now, he was just protecting his father (his father he had destroyed by Vampiro about a month ago),  and Park can’t really blame him for his actions. Park hopes he didn’t lose his friendship with Dorian, but is glad the Perros helped him out.

Perro Aguayo Jr. says they’ve changed the history of lucha libre and Los Perros have the best fighters. Perro threw in Santo & Demon among people who were in his promotion, but I can’t see them showing up in AAA. Maybe Demon, but he has his own plans.

In news about people I’m more curious about, Super Nova is supposed to be on the next Perros del Mal podcast, so I guess he’s staying. I know I’m probably wrong, but I have this belief that someone will do Texano Jr vs Super Nova someday and it’ll actually be a big deal. Won’t happen yet (and probably shouldn’t.)

Silver King is cleared to wear a mask in Mexico City now because he’s wrestling there as “Silver Cain“, licensed and all. Hilarious. It still hasn’t been five years since he lost his mask as Black Tiger, but no one really cares.

Ultimo Gladiador wasn’t wearing his mask for the post match press conference. I still don’t understand the deal there. The Gladiatores has video of the press conference.

Gallo is proud of winning the Occidente Light Heavyweight championship and, like anyone who wins anything in Guadalajara, would really like to make it to Arena Mexico. Before then, he’d like to confirm his championship by defending against Misterioso II, who held this title before Mictlan (and no one wants to wrestle Mictlan.)

Someone’s making a musical out of Santo vs las Mujeres Vampiro (1962). I have no idea.

In an amazing coincidence, a Mexican Team just happened to out score a South Africian team on the dance competition show Latin Lover judges. It’s not the finals, it’s just some random head to head bit. More of note, Latin Lover bet his hair against a South African judge, though the article doesn’t make it quite clear what they were betting on. I guess on which team would eventually win. Don’t put it on the luchawiki.

Cesar says AAA made a lot of noise but didn’t get a full house. It’s psychological great to be able to have a full house, but an 80% full building, given the size of the building and the ticket prices, still pays the bills pretty well.

Cronicas Y Leyendas has photo of a lightweight Blue Panther from 1980, Mil Mascaras & Canek teaming up, and a video interview with lucha historian Teddy Banos.

Sombra vs Gedo from the Best of Super Juniors is now up. Sombra took the pinfall in a 10 man tag today.

Chico Che and Bugambilia face off in a hair match tonight Arena Aficion.

I can’t decide if video of Chessman answering questions on Facebook is the best or worst thing ever. He’s answering questions from fans on AAA’s Facebook, he’s not answering questions about Facebook or it’s privacy policy, that’d clearly be great.

Box Y Lucha 2977 has an exclusive on Dr. Wagner winning the title and Taichi losing his hair. They must’ve gone to press later than usual to cover TripleMania & Sin Salida – the rest of the magazines won’t have it until next week.

Luchas2000 524 has Latin Lover, Sombra, Oriental

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

  1. Chessman answering questions on Facebook is the best thing to ever happen to Facebook.

  2. I’m starting to think this invasion angle in CMLL isn’t really worth it if every show is now going to be full of Rayo, Porky and the Dinamitas. I don’t want CMLL 1997 – 2004 back. Lived through it once, had enough of it.

  3. Just got back from Smackdown. Dos Caras Jr. wrestled as Dos Caras, with no mask, as a heel, doing a reconquista activist type gimmick, taunting the crowd by speaking in Spanish on the mic. He lost to JTG.

  4. I think WWE is doing a gimmick on NXT where the sons of past stars have to earn the right to use their family name in the ring. That’s what I could tell from tonight’s taping. Another gimmick stolen from Mexico. Santo did the same to el Hijo.
