Fantasma/Casas, double champion, Apache

CMLL (SUN) 05/23 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Gran Kenut b Templario
2) Relampago Azul & Thunder Boy b Acertijo & Cerveruz
3) El Divino & Leo b Ángel del Mal & In Memoriam
4) Mr. Trueno b Astaroth [tournament, OCCIDENTE LH]
5) Gallo b Malefico [tournament, OCCIDENTE LH]
6) Brazo de Plata, La Sombra, Toscano b Ephesto, Héctor Garza, Terrible
7) Hijo del Fantasma DQ Negro Casas

Negro Casas faked a foul in the second fall, and Fantasma returned the favor in the third.

Garza teamed with the rudos, lost. No one wonder he took his time joiing them.

Gallo & Mr. Trueno meet next week for the Occidente LH title. I’ve actually worked out the brackets to this tournament and feel like I should be hearing a *ding* for some sort of 3rd level achievement. Once I figured out the result I had wrong, it turns out to be a reasonable sensible 10 wrestler tournament. Gallo will have to win his fourth match to take the whole tournament, but he’s Gallo so it seems likely.

CMLL (SUN) 05/23 Arena Coliseo [@cmllmagazine, CMLL]
1) Camaleón & Principe b Apolo Estrada Jr. & Disturbio
2) Horus, Metálico, Starman b Durango Kid, Puma King, Tiger Kid
3) Fabián el Gitano, Leono, Pegasso DQ Dr. X, Loco Max, Nitro
4) Metro, Rush, Valiente b Dragón Rojo Jr., Euforia, Vangelis
5) Máximo, Shocker, Strong Man DQ Rey Bucanero, Taichi, Último Guerrero

Taichi fouled Maximo for the DQ.

DQ in tercera was for Dr. X pulling Fabian’s mask again. You know what would make me look really dumb? If the strange lineup this Sunday was actually cover for CMLL doing Dr. X vs Fabian this week.

(I’m thinking I’m about to look really dumb.)

IWRG (SUN) 05/23 Arena Naucalpan [Estrellas del Ring]
1) Comando Negro b Dinamic Black
2) Cerebro Negro, Eragon, Hijo del Pantera b Alan Extreme, Heavy Boy, Hijo del Signo
3) Dr. Cerebro b Fuerza Guerrera [IWRG IC WELTER]
4) Bombero Infernal b Jack [hair]
5) Cibernético, Olímpico, Tinieblas Jr. b Hernandez, Hijo del Cien Caras, Máscara Año 2000 Jr.

Hernandez accidentally hit the referee, pinned Cibernetico, but no one counted. Cibernetico got the pin after the ref recovered. AAA says the IWRG guys turned on the AAA guys at the end of the match, though the EdR recap doesn’t mention it.

Hair match was bloody; at least this Jack knew where the blood was coming from.

Dr. Cerebro is already lightweight champion, so he can walk around with a lot of belts that he’s not doing a lot with. This title had been inactive for a year before suddenly doing a title change, so I wonder if this is possibly connected with next month’s visitors…

Vanguardia’s report on an AAA spot show in Satillo includes a mention of Gran Apache being injured in the semifinal.

Estrellas del Ring has an interview with Tijuana’s Pancho Cachondo.

The poster for tomorrow’s Dantes Factory show has Huracan Ramirez vs Olimpico for the UWA Middleweight Championship; Olimpico skipped out on the last show here and they set up the title match with Jaque Mate Jr. instead. (This is why you wait to the last minute to do posters.)

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update,

AAA in NOAH, Perros, Sombra, Guadalajara, lineups

Full results tomorrow, but Jack lost his hair to Bombero Infernal (tough night for Jack) and Dr. Cerebro picked up the IWRG Welterweight Title from Fuerza Guerrera tonight in Arena Naucalpan.

In today’s NOAH show (which is probably yesterday’s NOAH show by the time you read this), Atsushi Aoki & Go Shiozaki beat Takeshi Morishima & Taiji Ishimori for the AAA World Tag Team championship. While you figure out the point to this all, I’ll explain that this means Aoki & Shiozaki are the ones coming to TripleMania, and Ishimori doesn’t have to travel to Mexico on an off day the Best of Super Juniors.

Fuego en el Ring has results from Friday’s Perros show in Zacatecas; Perro Aguayo Jr. won via foul. I’m shocked. Super Crazy replaced Mr. Aguila, “The New York Knockout Nikki” replaced Estrellita. They run again next weekend.

Al Filo del Ring has thought on the Thursday Arena Naucalpan show; attendance dropped off compared to the rest of the IWRG/AAA shows, and maybe AAA needs to think more about who they’re sending.

La Sombra thinks there are only one or two real luchadors among the independents, doesn’t seem them as a challenge, and isn’t that interested in them. La Mascara would be open to forming a new group with his new trios partners, but is in no hurry to do so.

Over on Fuego en el Ring, Satanico talks up a month of anniversary shows at Arena Coliseo Guadalajara, including Rayo de Jalisco and Jushin Liger (mentioned for 06/20, which accidentally confirms he’s coming to Mexico after the Best of Super Juniors.) Satanico wants to do the match with Solar sometime in June as well. Also, they’re changing the name of the attached school – Diablo Velasco’s family doesn’t want his name on the school anymore.

El Manana interviews local referee Coreano, who explains he got into wrestling because of his son, who had been wrestling until injuries forced him out.

Cronicas Y Leyendas has it’s second part look back at Sangre Chicana and Lizmark winning an AJPW battle royal.

Kcidis previews Cibernetico & Abyss vs Zorro & Vampiro.

Robert has reviews of disappointed October CMLL, IWRG 09/10/09, and DTU Descontrol and good AAA 10/09/09 & Monterrey 09/30/08.

Cesar looks over Sin Salida – I understand his point about wanting the old guys to put over the young guys rather than just fight the other old guys, but I don’t think the proposed matches don’t really work out that well – and complains about double standards again.

WagnerMania has some neat lucha libre artwork.

This week’s SuperLuchas #365 has an entertaining interview with Rayo de Jalisco. We learn, among other things, that he only asked for a couple month vacation and ended up not returning for five years, that he didn’t come to the ceremony to honor Rayo de Jalisco Sr.’s induction into the Guadalajara Walk of Fame because the promoter (Apolo Dantes) at the time “had no brain” and didn’t invite him, and he’s about five or six years away from introducing a third generation Rayo de Jalisco.

Luchas2000 #522 has the new Invasores and new champions.

Lineup

IWRG (THU) 05/27 Arena Naucalpan
1) Imperial vs Halcon 2000
2) Dinamic Black & Guizmo vs Alan Extreme & Keshin Black
3) Daga, Eragon, Freelance vs Comando Negro, Eterno, Hijo del Signo
4) Black Terry, Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro vs Bombero Infernal, Maldito Jr., Samot
5) Kenzo Suzuki, Silver King, Último Gladiador vs Hijo del Cien Caras, Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Veneno

The way they’ve worked this feud, that main event seems likely to be a draw.

CMLL (SUN) 05/30 Arena Coliseo
1) Bengala & Principe vs Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Astral, Pequeño Olímpico, Último Dragoncito vs Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Universo 2000, Pequeño Violencia
3) Delta & Rey Cometa vs Dr. X & Hooligan
4) Fuego, Metro, Rush, Sagrado vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Nosferatu, Pólvora, Skándalo [cibernetico]
5) Brazo de Plata, Máximo, Volador Jr. vs Felino, Negro Casas, Taichi

Pretty random Cibernetico. With only 8 people, they probably can squeeze that match in about 12-15 minutes, about the same as a normal trios. No scheduled Invasor participation despite the following week’s card being based on that feud.

Seemed to me like they dropped Fabian vs Dr. X, based on those two having zero head to head encounters this week. However, they were mask ripping tonight in Arena Coliseo, so maybe there’s something going on here.

IWRG (SUN) 05/30 Arena Naucalpan
1) Dinamic Black vs Alan Extreme
2) Daga & Hijo del Pantera vs Comando Negro & Eterno
3) Avisman, El Hijo del Diablo, Gringo Loco vs Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro, La Roca
4) Bombero Infernal, Maldito Jr., Samot vs Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro
5) El Elegido, Gato Eveready, Pimpinela Escarlata vs Fuerza Guerrera, Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Veneno

La Roca is back here, which is sure to make someone happy. Maybe they’ll revive the Pimpi/Gato romance?

CMLL (SUN) 05/30 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) El Divino & Virgo vs Relampago & Thunder Boy
2) Angelo & Leo vs Exterminador & Rey Trueno
3) Hierro, Metal Blanco, Palacio Negro vs Ephesto, Euforia, Misterioso II
4) ? vs ?? [OCCIDENTE LH]
5) Blue Panther, Gigante Bernard, Strong Man vs Atlantis, Averno, Mephisto

Yep, despite explicitly telling everyone Bernard and Strong Man were going to feud, they’re teaming here as well as Friday in Arena Mexico. I’d be more surprised if we didn’t just go thru the longest Hector Garza rudo turn ever.

Toryumon Mexico (SAT) 05/29 Arena Mexico
1) Hijo del Fantasma vs MáximoBrazo de OroMedico AsesinoTrauma ITrauma IIBrazo de PlatinoHijo del SignoDurango KidSkándalo [dragon scramble]
2) La Comandante & Mima Shimoda vs Ayumi Kurihara & Marcela
3) Pequeño Damian 666 vs Yoruba [hair]
4) Brazo de Plata, Mil Mascaras, Ring Fujinami, Último Dragón vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Chuck Palumbo, Negro Navarro, Rey Bucanero

Via Superluchas, we actually have a Toryumon Mexico show lineup before it happens! A partial one, at least. You have six days to prepare for the return of Chuck Palumbo. Wonder if someone’s changed between CMLL & Dragon that these shows are now back at Arena Mexico, or if they only have the sponsorship money to rent out the place once a year.

Yoruba’s name turns up in occasional 2008, 2009 and 2010 lineups, but I have no idea who he is. Another stranded forgotten Toryumon wrestler?

Speaking of, SuperLuchas (the magazine) says CIMA and Akira Tozawa are coming to Mexico, first week of IWRG. CMLL would’ve said something at the press conference if they were going there, and AAA would’ve added them to a TripleMania match if they were going there, so I’m guessing it’s a return trip to IWRG.

2010 AAA TV Chart
Projected Air Date (#940)
Mexico: 05/30
US: 06/12

Card order changed a bit.

Aerostar and Fabi Apache keeping the titles is a slight surprise; the Legion is topped from adding a title for now. After the match, Rain & Jennifer Blade ran in to attack Fabi, and Mari Apache & Gran Apache made the save. Gran Apache has been making the save a lot lately, perhaps he’ll actually get into a match soon.

Referee caught Escoria going for the claw punch. While the ref was stopping Escoria, Ozz was able to get in his own claw punch in on Elegido for the win.

Hijo de Tirantes was referee for the third match, so Wagner had Electro pinned, Tirantes broke it up, Electro fouled Wagner, and Tirantes was totally okay with counting. Piero ran in, attacking Tirantes, but the Legion ran out after Piero and destroyed him.

La Parka Jr. ran out during the semimain. Parka and Metal brawled with Park to the back, leaving him beat up. With the two left alone, Cibernetico pinned Zorro with a chokeslam. After the match, Vampiro ran out and he and Zorro beat up Cibernetico.

Main event was a wild brawl with no finish. LA Park ran out, got a bottle, broke it, and attempted to slash Parka’s forehead. Security AAA tecnicos from earlier in the show ran in to stop that, but Parka still was strechered out. After the fight, Joaquin demanded to know where Konnan & Dorian were – doesn’t sound like they were out for the fight here.

Next taping is 05/31 in Leon.

new trios champions, AAA, Octagon, lineups

CMLL (FRI) 05/21 Arena Mexico [SuperLuchas, @cmllmagazine, Ovaciones (PDF)]
1) Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II DQ Inquisidor & Mortiz
2) Astro Boy, Guerrero Maya Jr., Sensei b Arkangel de la Muerte, Hooligan, Skándalo
3) Eléctrico b Pierrothito [lightning]
4) Misterioso II, Pólvora, Sangre Azteca b Ángel Azteca Jr., Ángel de Oro, Ángel de Plata
5) Místico, Strong Man, Toscano b Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
6) La Máscara, La Sombra, Máscara Dorada b Hiroshi Tanahashi, Shigeo Okumura, Taichi [CMLL TRIOS]

Tecnicos took falls 2 and 3 (Mascara powerbomb on Tanahashi, planchas by the other two) to win the trios championship.

Mistico came out for his match wearing his horned mask, teasing a union with the rudos, but the ripped it off to declare he was staying a tecnico. (SuperLuchas also says Mistico made an obscene gesture towards the rudo fans.) Today, CMLL.com confirms Mistico is done with acting a rudo. Mistico got Averno in the usual way.

Rayo Tapatio II took the Mortiz Fly in the opener, but the rudos still got DQed when Inquisidor fouled Rayo I.

Yahoo Mexico had a front page interview with the old trios champs.

As expected, AAA has officially put both Silver King & Ultimo Gladiador and Nicho & Joe Lider in the AAA Tag Title match at TripleMania, following their draw earlier.

Ras de Lona was a hard sell for 06/06. The first 2/3rds seemed to be people almost exclusively talking about Rayo Jr.’s return, and the press conference aired in the second half. Only in CMLL does someone turn against the company by walking around a chain link fence and hugging someoen at a press conference. Garza explained his side doesn’t need him on the Invasors vs CMLL show, while Panico confirmed Tirantes would be refereeing on the show. Outside of the main angle, Mistico was asked about his light heavyweight title match versus Volador form this past Monday, bitterly blaming his loss on Tirantes corrupt refereeing. They seemed to be positioning Mistico & Fantasma as the big opponents of the Invasors. Also, Tanahashi does a better promo in Spanish than Taichi and Okumura.

Octagon says AAA needs to give the guys in the first and second matches a chance to prove themselves, and there’s no need to bring in new people. Octagon is clearly not booking AAA.

R de Rudo also has an interview with Quidam from Japan’s 666 promotion.

A luchador named Guerrero Rojo talks about wrestling in the US, says he was a fan of Ultimo Guerrero growing up (despite being 35), and the article states learning lucha libre cures any vice. Not sure which is the biggest fib.

Local wrestler Guardian visited a children’s hospital.

Sensacional de Lucha looks back at LA Park in 2003, revealing his real name to prove he was the original La Parka.

Segunda Caida has a review of IWRG 01/31/10 and awards for January.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

Lineups

Tuesday’s main event now has Hijo de Fantamsa in Mistico’s place. I would assume this is related to Mistico burying the rudo bit on Friday; that match must’ve been planned with Mistico & Volador not getting alone, and it seems like they don’t want either of them to be a rudo now, so they’ll just keep them apart.

CMLL (FRI) 05/28 Arena Mexico
1) Metálico & Starman vs Disturbio & Semental
2) Dark Angel, Lluvia, Luna Mágica vs Amapola, Mima Shimoda, Princesa Blanca
3) Rush vs Cancerbero [lightning]
4) Ángel de Oro, Blue Panther, Valiente vs Euforia, Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca
5) Hijo del Fantasma, Máximo, Volador Jr. vs Ray Mendoza Jr., Shigeo Okumura, Taichi
6) Gigante Bernard, Shocker, Strong Man vs Héctor Garza, Terrible, Texano

Ehhh. Fourth match looks good! Gigante Benard teams with the guys we know he’s facing next week, I think I know how that’ll go. Garza finally gets to team with Terrible & Texano.
