06/06 AAA TV (PPV) Lineup (TripleMania, DF) – so far

This is only what’s been confirmed so far. Seems like the matches are going to trickle out one by one.

As of 05/12

Notes from today’s press conference. Dos de Tres updated about the show, until they just stopped. Maybe there will be more on the main site later? Really, we only got confirmation on one stipulation and the participants for a previously announced match out of all of this.

  • Show will be on PPV, as suspected. It’ll air in HD, and Konnan will be part of the announce crew
  • The band El Tri will play.
  • Cinthia threatened to have the foreign women/Sexi clean the toilets at Arena Azteca Budokan when they lose. Cruel and unusual!
  • The Cruiserweight, Women’s match, and Minis match were discussed, but no new details made it to the facebook site. Obviously, Alex is now confirmed out of the cruiserweight match (because the trios match is more important).
  • Piero? What were you thinking? Metal & Octagon are not the most reliable duo.
  • Next Wednesday’s odd Silver King & Ultimo Gladiador vs Joe Lider & Nicho match is now explained as “winner gets title match” for TripleMania. I actually wouldn’t be surprised if Silver King & Ultimo Gladiador advance, because they’d fit in that match fine. It was announced prior that it’d definitely be Lider/Nicho at TripleMania, but that can always change.
  • TNA guys apparently do not need to qualify.
  • LA Park (uninvited to the press conference, showing up anyway) and Dr. Wagner yelled at each other to make sure we know that’s the match we still want to see.
  • The name stip in Parka/Park was the original plan, so nothing much has changed. I think the Legion is supposed to be banned from interfering, not that ever means anything. I think they said the Roldan’s will be in the corners, but I’m confused reading the recaps.
  • We’re probably a match or two short still. The losers of the #1 contenders match will likely still get on the card, and we’re missing something out of the Vampiro/Zorro partnership.

As 0f 05/02

The 04/30 taping makes Park vs Parka Jr. official, though AAA was counting it as official a few days prior. They’re still teasing the idea of a stipulation, and the best guess is name vs name.

Luchas2000 reported the minis will be in a ladder match for their title, and the list I have may not be complete. This is a stupid idea.

So far, we’ve had three minis title matches since they’ve created this title. The first time, they threw everyone in a tournament. They second time, they threw everyone in an elimination match. This time, they threw everyone in a ladder match. The wealth of worthless ideas here is amazing.

SuperLuchas says TNA’s Beer Money may be brought in for an international multi-team tag title match. International seems to be the point, trying to make AAA look like a World organization (which is an odd where the main angle for the last half decade has been about those evil foreigners.)

As of 04/29

It could probably use some clarification, but my understanding is this will air on PPV, and not on the regular TV show. Maybe, like with last year’s TripleMania, it will turned up on TV next winter, but I don’t expect this to air in the US for quite some time. (There’s been no recent talk of US PPV.) AAA says they have 3 more tapings between the 04/30 show and this show and, if any are of the two tapings in one type, they can easily skip past TripleMania without a gap in tapings.

LA Park vs La Parka Jr. is expected to take place, but AAA has not confirmed it. They may be waiting to set up the stipulation for the match. They’re expected to have name vs name on this show, and follow later in the year with mask vs mask.

The losing team in the women’s trios match will have to be the winner’s maid. I saw one explanation which said they’d have to  be maids for a week, but most places have left the length unclear.

Every single televised AAA cruiserweight title match has involved either Extreme Tiger or Alex Koslov (who only missed the one where he was fired for about a minute and a half.) The vast majority have been multiman matches. This fits both trends. They’re billing the match as a four men from four different countries.

Maximo/UG & Asesino/Porky in GDL, Garza turn continues

CMLL (TUE) 05/11 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Quca b Johnny Dinamo
2) Leo & Samurai b Ángel del Mal & León Blanco
3) Gallo & Magnum b Malefico & Ráfaga
4) Ángel de Oro & Ángel de Plata DQ Dragón Rojo Jr. & Sangre Azteca
5) La Máscara, Terrible, Último Guerrero DQ Asesino Negro, Brazo de Plata, Máximo [Relevos Increíbles]

Ultimo Guerrero faked a foul from Maximo for a DQ. Maximo was greatly annoyed and demanded a singles match with Ultimo Guerrero. That should be something. Also, Asesino and Brazo randomly agreed to their hair match, taking place next week. Porky dislocated his jaw on Sunday, it won’t be full healed for two months, and he was supposed to sit out a week – and yet he worked this match anyway. Tough, but maybe not the best of ideas.

Angel de Oro & Angel de Plata were winning, so Poder Mexica yanked their masks.

CMLL (TUE) 05/11 Arena Mexico [Alan]
1) Disturbio & Mortiz b Bengala & Trueno
2) Guerrero Maya Jr., Molotov, Starman b Bronco, Hooligan, Inquisidor
3) Dr. X, Euforia, Nosferatu b Fabián el Gitano, Pegasso, Rey Cometa
4) Blue Panther, Toscano, Valiente b Ephesto, Pólvora, Texano
5) Atlantis, Averno, Rey Bucanero b Héctor Garza, Máscara Dorada, Volador Jr.

Garza turned on his partners, taking their masks. Dr. X snuck in a foul on Fabian in the tercera.

Volador Jr. defends the Mexican Light Heavyweight Championship versus Mistico next week in Nuevo Laredo.

Extreme Tiger talks to AAA about his opponents for TripleMania: Nosawa (doesn’t know him), Christopher Daniels (faced him once) and Jack Evans (knows him well.) It’s the AAA interviewer bringing up these names, which makes it all the more odd: Alex Koslov is in the match, not Jack Evans. Maybe the TripleMania press conference will have explained that by this time you read this.

Al Filo del Ring says Rayo de Jalisco Jr.‘s match on Sunday was his last in IWRG for the time being; it was thought he was sticking around a lot longer, but the next dates he offered to work here are months down the line.

The Dr. Wagner Jr. poster for the AAA Video Game is super great.

My Lucha Libre Life appears to be a 20 year old taking a year to learn lucha libre.

Metal Blanco, Gallo, Acertijo, Palacio Negro, Angel del Mal and Rafaga participated in an 8K run.

There’s an interview with Monterrey wrestler Black Mamba on the Box Y Lucha foro.

Segunda Caida resumes the complete and total history of (taped) Casandro matches with matches from AAA, Wagner, and IWA-MS.

Kcidis draws the break up of the Angels Rebeldes.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

Box y Lucha #2973 has Rey Mysterio Jr. returning to Mexico, and the new trios champs.

Record #25 is on Heroes.

Lineup

CMLL (MON) 05/17 Arena Puebla
1) King Jaguar, Silver, Tigre Rojo vs Ares, Barbaro I, Policeman
2) Metálico, Starman, Trueno vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Dr. X, Nosferatu
3) Fuego, Metro, Rush vs Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca, Shigeo Okumura
4) La Máscara vs Taichi
5) Héctor Garza, Shocker, Strong Man vs Atlantis, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Último Guerrero

Hector Garza, still on the tecnico side! He’s been turning rudo for five weeks. This is truly Nueva Era de CMLL.

Sombra in NJPW’s Best of the Super Juniors

Sombra’s block for NJPW’s tournament has been announced:

  • Jushin Liger
  • Tiger Mask IV
  • Prince Devitt
  • Gedo
  • Kota Ibushi
  • Kushida
  • Davey Richards

Tiger Mask IV wins everything, NJPW keeps wanting to do more with Devitt but he keeps getting hurt (they’ve had him sit out so he’s healthy for this), Liger is Liger, and Ibushi and Richards are indy darlings of the moment. Maybe Sombra can pull out wins over Gedo & Kushida, but those are far from certain. Maybe this will be a status quo changing moment for CMLL in NJPW, where someone besides Mistico actually gets treated like a star, but more likely this is more NJPW bringing CMLL guys over to be entertaining in sub 9 minutes losing efforts. At least Sombra’s getting paid. And at least the CMLL guys are losing somewhere else, as opposed to AAA paying people to come in to beat their own guys.

Speaking of that, current AAA Tag Team champion Taiji Ishimori is in other block. (Can’t believe Morishima didn’t make the weight limit.) If both Sombra & Ishimori don’t make the final four (expected result), there’s a chance the CMLL Tag Champ and the AAA Tag Champ would team or face off in a tag match on the final night. Assuming Ishimori is even still the tag champion then – he’s supposed to be working TripleMania on an off day of this tour!
