new Trios champions, TripleManai press conference, CMLL in NJPW

CMLL (FRI) 05/07 Arena Mexico [SuperLuchasCesarESTOFuego en el RingOvaciones]
1) Leono & Sensei DQ Apocalipsis & Durango Kid
2) Pegasso, Rey Cometa, RushLoco Max, Nitro, Skándalo
3) Arkangel de la MuerteÁngel Azteca Jr. [lightning]
4) Brazo de Plata, Máximo, Toscano DQ Ephesto, Terrible, Texano Jr.
5) Delta, La Sombra, Volador Jr.Averno, Mephisto, Pólvora
6) Hiroshi Tanahashi, Shigeo Okumura, TaichiHéctor Garza, Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara [CMLL TRIOS]

The Japanese trio, teaming up for the first time ever, becomes the 21st CMLL Trios champions and first champions from outside of Mexico. Garza spend the match accidentally turning on his partners, making up with his partners, and then not-accidentally clotheslining them both when they went for dives in the third fall.

Volador got Averno with the Spanish fly in the second. Neither Delta or Polvora had good nights; Fuego says Delta hurt his ankle.

Tecnicos won the fourth in straight falls, Texano fouling Brazo de Plata in the second. Second match was a straight fall win as well.

Durango pulled Sensei’s mask in the opener, then pinned him with a DDT. Referees figured it out.

Cesar called this one of the worst shows in recent years.

AAA will hold a press conference to announce the TripleMania lineup on 05/12.

Mascara Dorada and Valiente lost in the first round of the Super J Tag Team Tournament to eventual runner ups Apollo 55. Taguchi pinned Dorada. Haven’t heard much about the match, but it sounds like the CMLL guys acquitted themselves well for an 8 minutes match. They managed to wrestle despite the airline losing their luggage. SuperLuchas has more photos of the duo hanging out in Japan.

NJPW announced 15 of their 16 participants in their Best of Super Jr. VII. La Sombra will be in the tournament as a representative CMLL. Tournament runs from May 30 to June 13th, so he’s skipping Infierno en el Ring. It’s funny how NJPW lists Sombra’s birth as unknown – maybe I should tweet “11/03/89” to them?

Psicosis is proud of his independent team’s record so far, and already reaching a singles match with Fantasma. After years of people calling AAA wrestlers clowns, he’s proving different. Psicosis big plan is a show half of CMLL wrestlers and half of independent wrestlers. Psicosis also did an interview on Ras de Lona, and looked like he was having the time of his life as leader of the independents.

AAA teases an article in the new Dos de Tres about the Apache sisters and their children. Same theme on Ras de Lona this week, with Dalys, Lluvia and Lady Apache. Apache’s kid(s?) were not seen, but Dalys’ oldest daughter sure appeared to be wearing wrestling gear.

Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. sees his feud with Silver King ending one of two ways – either he puts the IWRG Heavyweight title on the line, or – since Silver King doesn’t have hair or mask that Mascara wants – they face in a retirement match. So it’ll be a title match.

Televisa says they expect 75% of the sales of the AAA video game to come in the US. That’s probably not going to work out well.

DJ Spectro looks back at Halcon Dorado.

Kcidis draws an overwhelming amount of invasions.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

Lineups

CMLL (FRI) 05/14 Arena Mexico
1) Camaleón & Principe vs Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Bam Bam, Mascarita Dorada, Shockercito vs Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Warrior
3) Fuego, Sagrado, Stuka Jr. vs Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca, Virus
4) Máscara Dorada vs Averno [lightning]
5) Héctor Garza, Terrible, Texano Jr. vs Hiroshi Tanahashi, Shigeo Okumura, Taichi
6) Místico, Shocker, Strong Man vs Felino, Negro Casas, Último Guerrero

I guess Texano knew something about teaming with Garza! There’s all the possibility for a quick trios change in the next few weeks – Tanahashi is due back for that Best of Super Juniors tour – so this trio has as much chance as any.

Dorada/Averno looks good, as does everything below it. Mascarita Dorada actually advertised for a show.

Maybe Camaleon can finally get the Ras de Lona interview? Maybe he has but he’s such a super Camaleon, I thought he was someone else.

CMLL (SUN) 05/16 Arena Mexico
1) Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II vs Apocalipsis & Ramstein
2) Lady Apache, Luna Mágica, Marcela vs La Seductora, Princesa Blanca, Yeska
3) Metro, Rush, Valiente vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Cancerbero, Raziel
4) Brazo de Plata, Héctor Garza, Toscano vs El Alebrije, Histeria, Maniaco
5) La Máscara, La Sombra, Shocker vs Averno, Ephesto, Texano

Garza faces the independent for two straight weeks. Maybe there’s some explanation there for why he’s  not yet on the rudo side fll time. Marcela is back from a month off and a trip to Japan.

  1. Every time IWRG starts I think its a repeat. Mid-way through when its a repeat, I realize I wasted my time.:(

  2. Why are Hiroka and Princesa Blanca coming out to Beyonce’s single ladies? If I was Felino, i’d be pissed.

  3. Cubs,

I was at the NJPW show yesterday. Put it this way, the CMLL guys had the over for 90% of the match, so they hit their moves and did very well. Valiente was VERY over. Like, El Samurai was the most popular of the show, but Valiente was the second most over and by far. Rob, save your money, we are going to Mexico City next year!
