Samurai loses his mask, more Volador/Mistico, Perros

CMLL (SUN) 04/25 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Eros b Templario
2) El Divino b Thunder Boy
3) Leo & Palacio Negro b Drago & León Blanco
4) Averno, Dragón Rojo Jr., Mephisto b La Sombra, Máscara Dorada, Volador Jr.
5) Guerrero Samurai II L Ráfaga, Rey Trueno, Magnum, Metal Blanco, Mr. Trueno, Hierro, Astaroth [cage, mask]

Order of escape (after ten minutes) was Astaroth, Rey Trueno, Hierro, Mr. Trueno, Metal Blanco, and Magnum. That left Rafaga and Samuari as the final two, and Rafaga locked on a double armbar for the win. Guerrero Samuari is Jose Luis Gutierrez, from Guadalajara, 27 years a wrestler and trained by Diablo Velasco.

Dragon Rojo beat Mascara Dorada to set up a title match next week, which is a fan appreciation day here.

CMLL (SUN) 04/25 Arena Coliseo [Ovaciones (PDF), @cmllmagazine]
1) Artillero & Súper Comando b Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II
2) Amapola, La Seductora, Princesa Sujei b Dalys la Caribeña, Estrella Mágica, Lady Apache
3) Arkangel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Skándalo b Ángel de Oro, Ángel de Plata, Astro Boy
4) Héctor Garza, Shocker, Toscano b Rey Bucanero, Shigeo Okumura, Taichi
5) Atlantis, Strong Man, Volador Jr. DQ Místico, Terrible, Texano Jr. [Relevos Increíbles]

Mistico and Volador were back at it again here, feuding thru the match. Mistico pulled Volador’s mask for the DQ, then the two agreed to a singles match next week. Mistico wanted a shot at Volador’s title, unclear if he’s getting it.

Garza’s teammates didn’t like him, but they still won in straight falls.

DJ Spectro has a recap of Sunday’s Rey Misterio Sr. tribute show, not high on the wrestlers or the fans.

A new promotion announced they’d start running shows in Arena Azteca in Hidalgo. There’s currently shows Tuesday and Sunday’s in Arena Aficion in the same town.

Luchas 2000 #518 has La Parka Jr. vs LA Park.

LuchaWorld has Alfredo on this weekend’s AAA, and KrisZ’s news update.

One lineup

PdM (TUE) 04/27 Arena Aficion
1) Charly Manson vs X-Fly [MEX HEAVY]
2) Blue Demon Jr., Groon XXX, Oriental vs Damián 666, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Halloween

At least the interview Perro gives says it’s a title match anyway. Konami & Celestial are working the undercard. This is start of a big week for the Perros.

AULL, Sunday notes, lineups

AULL (SAT) 04/24 Arena Lopez Mateos [Al Filo del RingEstrellas del RingBlack Terry Jr. (flickr)]
1) Rocker b Hormiga Atomica
2) Hombre sin Rostro, Kilvan, Tormento b Ángel de la Noche, Juan el Ranchero, Rey Kristal
3) Brazo de Plata Jr., Brazo Jr., Brazo Metalico b Cerebro Maligno, Herejia, Judas el Traidor
4) Rey Krimen, Sepulturero I, Terry 2000 b Chucho el Roto, Iron Love, Mr. Potro [AULL TRIOS]
5) Blue Panther, Olímpico, Último Dragón b Black Terry, Negro Navarro, Villano IV

Main event was the mat based battle on Panther/Navarro you’d expect it to be. Fans got on Ultimo Dragon for not doing enough on the mat, though he had a good time. Champs held onto their belts in the semimain.

Going to wait until tomorrow to do Sunday results, because I’m waiting for a few details, but the important news is

  • Guerrero Samurai II lost his mask to Rafaga in Guadalajara’s cage match
  • Mistico pulled Volador’s mask for a main event DQ in Coliseo; this sets up a singles match next week (against the Perros show) which may be for the light heavyweight title
  • not much of note in IWRG?

AAA made a couple changes to Friday’s TV taping. Mesias is finally out of action due to his shoulder surgery, with Heavy Metal taking his place in the main event. Pimpi takes Metal’s place in the semimain, which gives us the Pimpinela/Octagon/Wagner trio teased on the last TV taping. Which probably means this was the plan all along and an early version of the lineup got posted.

Sangre Azteca & Nitro are headed back to France the first two weeks in July. They’re going back to teach classes this time.

This week’s SuperLuchas has Chris Daniels as the mystery main eventer, but AAA have since said Daniels is actually taking Nicho’s spot in the cruiserweight trios.

Of course, the big news is Dorian has a new secretary. This week’s AAA TV in Mexico also pushed Konnan not being happy about Vampiro being in the Legion.

Volador, Sombra, Ultimo Guerrero and Atlantis worked a free (and heavily attended) PAN political rally. Opening match is listed as “Corruption, Crime and Racketeering vs Decency, Hope, and Progress”, though they don’t say who won.

Amapola was among four Mexican celebrities taking part (by satellite) in Spain’s day long reading of Don Quixote.

I think this is an article about a news show visiting Gran Apache’s lucha classes, but I’m confused. Doesn’t take much, but why would a newspaper be writing about a TV show?

Rob has recaps of Puebla 08/24/09, LLP 08/15/09 and IWRG 08/20/09, as well CMLL 08/25 and Puebla 08/29/09.

Cesar looks at the lineups and the ex-AAA-ers arbitration meetings.

WagnerMania looks back at Infernales vs Canek, Dos Caras and Malumba.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

Lineups

IWRG (THU) 04/29 Arena Naucalpan
1) Dinamic Black vs Keshin Black
2) Guizmo & Miss Gaviota vs Alan Extreme & Eterno
3) Black Terry & Cerebro Negro vs Trauma I & Trauma II
4) Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro vs Bombero Infernal, Maldito Jr., Samot
5) Hijo de Máscara Año 2000, Máscara Año 2000, Máscara Año 2000 Jr. vs Avisman, El Hijo del Diablo, Gringo Loco [EdM Trios, final]

You know what this promotion needs is some more rudo acts. Semimain is not a title match but clearly a preview to upcoming attractions.

IWRG (SUN) 05/02 Arena Naucalpan
1) Héros vs Imperial
2) Dinamic Black & Tonatiuh vs Alan Extreme & Comando Negro
3) Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro vs Avisman, El Hijo del Diablo, Gringo Loco
4) Black Terry, Chico Che, Jack vs Cerebro Negro, Maldito Jr., Samot
5) el Ángel, Rayo de Jalisco Jr., Scorpio Jr. vs Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Universo 2000, Veneno

You’ve got to be kidding me. Pretty sure Cerebro Negro’s partners turned on him just last week, that’ll be fun. TeleFormula can skip showing this week, I’ll be OK.

If (ha) the Gringos win the title match on Thursday, the tercera is champion vs champion. The Sun God is debuting in the segunda, good to see he’s a tecnico.

CMLL (SUN) 05/02 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Thunder Boy & Virgo vs Acertijo & Nube Roja
2) Infierno vs Ráfaga [OCCIDENTE LH, semifinal]
3) Neutrón vs Drago [OCCIDENTE LH, semifinal]
4) Gallo & Palacio Negro vs Malefico & Mr. Trueno
5) Héctor Garza, Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara vs Averno, Terrible, Texano Jr.
6) Máscara Dorada vs Dragón Rojo Jr. [CMLL SL]

Never give up, never surrender! (but probably stay down for three after a flip ‘rana)

The Occidente Light Heavyweight championship is the one Mictlan last held, which he said he was soon to come back to defend. This seems to be a tournament to determine a new champion, though I’m not sure if these are the only two matches and if they’re holding off the final until the next week.

04/30 & 05/02 CMLL Lineups, other notes

CMLL (FRI) 04/30 Arena Mexico
1) Leono & Starman vs Bronco & Inquisidor
2) Fuego & Metro vs Euforia & Raziel
3) Dark Angel, Lady Apache, Marcela vs Hiroka, Mima Shimoda, Princesa Blanca
4) Bracito de Oro vs Pequeño Warrior [mask]
5) Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara, Místico vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Shigeo Okumura, Taichi
6) Delta & Volador Jr. vs Héctor Garza & Pólvora [Gran Alternativa, final]

Kid’s Day, $1 a ticket. Weird to run three tag matches but OK. Besides the two stip matches – where the rudos would be favorites if not for being Kid’s Day – there’s apparently issues between Dragon Rojo and Mistico. I dunno.

CMLL (SUN) 05/02 Arena Mexico
1) Bengala, Metálico, Trueno vs Camorra, Cholo, Zayco
2) Ángel Azteca Jr., Diamante, Fabián el Gitano vs Dr. X, Puma King, Tiger Kid
3) Blue Panther, Metro, Sagrado vs Euforia, Vangelis, Virus
4) Brazo de Plata, La Sombra, Toscano vs El Alebrije, Histeria, Psicosis

CMLL vs Independents match, but they’re also a match short. It seems like time and place for that midcard cage match, but they also have the relevos incriedble match this upcoming with Mistico & Atlantis on the ‘wrong teams.’

Besides the expected stuff on Ras de Lona, there was also a segment about Horus being Nieto de Angel Blanco (complete with wearing the mask) and all the hype for Mephisto/La Mascara very obviously avoided reference to the abbreviation “NWA”.

You need to see Kcidis latest cartoon now.

Delta & Volador advance, KOT

CMLL (FRI) 04/23 Arena Mexico [SuperLuchas, Ovaciones (PDF), @cmllmagazine, Fuego en el Ring, Cesar]
1) Inquisidor & Mortiz b Molotov & Trueno
2) Bracito de Oro b Pequeño Warrior [lightning]
3) Puma King & Último Guerrero b Pegasso & Toscano [Gran Alternativa, eightfinal]
4) Durango Kid & Texano Jr. b Ángel Azteca Jr. & Shocker [Gran Alternativa, eightfinal]
5) Delta & Volador Jr. b Felino & Tiger Kid [Gran Alternativa, eightfinal]
6) Averno & Raziel b Guerrero Maya Jr. & Valiente [Gran Alternativa, eightfinal]
7) Puma King & Último Guerrero b Durango Kid & Texano Jr. [Gran Alternativa, quarterfinal]
8) Delta & Volador Jr. b Averno & Raziel [Gran Alternativa, quarterfinal]
9) Delta & Volador Jr. b Puma King & Último Guerrero [Gran Alternativa, semifinal]
10) Blue Panther, Místico, Strong Man b Atlantis, Dragón Rojo Jr., Rey Bucanero

Mistico wore a Mexico World Cup futbol jersey. He’s a tecnico. He got Dragon Rojo with La Mistica to win.

Delta & Volador, the favorites, move on to face Polvora/Garza next week on Kid’s Day. Hmmm. Matches were between 3 and 8 minutes for the tournament.

Bracito de Oro beat Warrior clean.

Team Perros del Mal defeated Team Delicoso in the first round of CHIKARA’s King of Trios. Cuije stole the match by being Cuije, not a big surprise. Oriental, Alebrije, and Cuije move on to face the BDK Trio of Claudio Castagnoli, Ares, and Tursas tonight in the quarters.

Fuego en el Ring talks about Latin Lover’s meeting about the name. So does Gladiadores. And Estrellas del Ring.

AAA announced Chris Daniels will start with the group in 04/30, so the TV lineup they just gave out is changing.

The story about Team Mexico not making the tournament got picked up by Luchas2000. In the comments, Gigolo Americano, who I believe originally brought Skayde to CHIKARA before his own fall out with the company, defends Skayde over in the comments of that post.

A video shows Super Brazo now has a shaved head, fulfilling the stip of a cage match from a week or so back.

Ultimo Dragon says DragonMania will be on 05/29.

Rob writes about 09/05 and 09/12/09 52MX, and some July 09 FSE.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

AAA on Televisa #932 (04/03/2010)

Plaza de Toros Santa Maria, Queretaro, 03/12/2010

Cinthia Moreno, Fabi Apache, Mari Apache vs Christina Von Eerie, Rain, Sexy Star: A notable improvement over last week, and I’m not just saying that because I like Rain more than you. The match just had a better flow, they have a better idea of what they were doing. Nice build to a match they’re not actually doing any more.

Extreme Tiger vs Alex Koslov for the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship:not at all what I wanted out of this match, a collage of bits done in other matches without any understanding why they were being done. Soon, someone will create an easy way to splice YouTube videos together, and then these guys won’t even need to go to th ering

Joe Lider, Nicho el Millionario, Pimpinela Escarlata vs Dr. Wagner Jr., Silver King, Último Gladiador:kind of weird, but kind of worked.

Cibernético vs Konnan in a lumberjack rules match: beyond pathetic. All this TV time into a match that goes 3 minutes and is heavily, heavily edited. Time was not an issue – they could’ve easily bumped one of these matches to next week – this match was just awful and they were doing their best to hide it. No more feuds ending with Konnan in the ring, please. I want the same with Cibernetico, but there’s no hope there. I think they hurt the big angle by speeding thru it thru clips, you didn’t have much time to soak in what was happening. ANGRY DANCING.

El Mesías vs Mr. Anderson and Electroshock for the AAA World Heavyweight Championship: can’t understand why Mesias didn’t take the loss if they’re not going to that match. Electro’s reign not getting off to a great start.
