IWRG, XLAW, GDL, Coliseo

IWRG (THU) 03/18 Arena Naucalpan [Al Filo del Ring]
1) Dinamic Black b Halcon 2000
2) Comando Negro & Kid Tornado b Diva Salvaje & Miss Gaviota
3) Gemelo Fantastico I & Gemelo Fantastico II b Arlequin Amarillo & Arlequin Rojo
4) Freelance, La Roca, Zatura b Bombero Infernal, Maldito Jr., Samoth
5) Negro Navarro, Trauma I, Trauma II b Avisman, El Hijo del Diablo, Gringo Loco and Black Terry, Dr. Cerebro, Hijo del Signo and Chico Che, el Ángel, Orion

Not sure exactly how the main event worked – said to be been more an elimination match than anything, and partners fought each other – but the Traumas beat Black Terry for the final win. “Orion” was Rey Vikingo back in 2002, not sure who it was here (except not Ultraman Jr.)

X-LAW (SAT) 03/20 Plaza de Toros Tula de Allende, Hidalgo [SuperLuchas]
1) Aguila Solar & Mr. Aries b Guerrero Tolteca & Rey Panther
2) Arsenal & Mensajero de la Muerte b Aborto & Black Silver
3) Chapulin Negro b Halcon 2000
4) Zafiro b Akua
5) Epidemia & Heavy Boy b Leon Rojo & Ovett
6) Serval b Dinastía, Drastik Boy, Konami, Black Fire, Sadico [XLAW WELTER]
7) Grendel & Heimdal b Fantasma de la Ópera & Mike Segura
8) Joe Lider & Nicho el Millionario b Damián 666 & Halloween and Angel o Demonio & X-Fly
9) LA Park b Sabu [XLAW HEAVY]

Serval is new champ, Park retains the belt (but Super Parka stole it, then posed for a happy picture.)

CMLL (SUN) 03/21 Arena Coliseo [Ovaciones (PDF)]
1) Camorra & Mortiz b Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II
2) Bronco, Puma King, Tiger Kid b Astro Boy, Guerrero Maya Jr., Tony Rivera
3) Ángel de Plata, Delta, Rush b Dr. X, Hooligan, Nitro
4) Hijo del Fantasma, Toscano, Valiente b Euforia, Skándalo, Vangelis
5) Blue Panther, Héctor Garza, Místico b Negro Casas, Shigeo Okumura, Taichi

Fixed. Angel de Oro missed the show, shuffling 2/3 a little bit.  I guess Delta > Guerrero Maya? CMLL spells it “Mortiz” and says it’s the one from Tijuana.

Mistico’s team won – first fall by DQ, second by Mistica on Negro – but his teammates were still annoyed with him by the time it was over. As suspected, Niebla (“inactive” – suspended?) did not work this show. Okumura moved up to replace him, and Skandalo took the spot in the semimain.

CMLL (SUN) 03/21 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Tondar b Quka
2) Drago & León Blanco b Magnum & Samurai
3) Ángel del Mal & Ráfaga b Metal Blanco & Neutrón
4) Amapola & Seuxis b Lady Apache & Lluvia
5) Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero DQ Máscara Dorada, Shocker, Volador Jr.

Bucanero faked a Shocker foul. They’re coming back for a singles match. Next Sunday, this show will have a Shocker/Bucanero singles match and an Amapola title defense underneath. Seems familiar! In this match, after the two tag partners were eliminated, Apache got Amapola with a submission.

A recap of a Thursday spot show mentions Mr. Niebla did work as scheduled, so whatever’s gone on happened right before Dos Leyendas.

Today is the one year anniversary of Abismo Negro’s death (though he wasn’t discovered for another day.) Hometown paper El Heraldo de Tabasco talks about the known circumstances of his death.

Los Villanos (3 & 4) are working the underdcard of today’s AAA spot show in Nuevo Laredo. Maybe they picked Okumura to help with Taichi’s language barrier, but I’m still sort of surprised they didn’t use V3 or V4 in the spot created last Friday with Mr. Niebla absence. V4 & V5 win, everyone is happy, it’s pretty easy. Instead, he lost in straight falls on the night his father was honored, kind of odd.

A new lucha libre school is opening in Chipas. They already have five title belts.

X-Law, Felino, Lineups

No full results from the X-LAW show, but SuperLuchas promotes that La Hermandad made an appearance (exchange for Sabu on Friday?) and Sabu/Park was the match of the year (and the show was the show of the year.) Sounds like Park won, but Super Parka ran in after to steal the belt.

Felino was the crowd favorite on Friday, cheered by most of the fans. He vows to be more hideious than ever, and suggested he might return to the name Babe Casas.

Sombra had many relatives in Mexico City for this match. It’s almost as if they knew! Brillante Sr. & Sombra’s sister made an appearance on Ras de Lona, having attended to the open work out.

Genaro Contereras passed away on Sunday.

Ras de Lona also mentioned an upcoming US reality show featuring Shocker, Hijo de Fantasma (two guys who speak English), and Delta (?). I would suspect it’s something where they appear on a show rather than a show about them.

Kiyoshi pinned Ozz in his and Chessman’s AJPW appearance. AAA 0-2 vs Japan this weekend.

Speaking of, the NOAH report on the tag title change has the attendance at AAA’s Friday show at 3,000. I don’t know what that number’s worth, but they all seem like guesses to me. Best guess for CMLL’s show is 16,000 (Taichi agrees!); short of a sellout, but obviously the best gate of the year at the prices they were charging (and without the tickets they were giving away.) WON has last year’s anniversary show at 18,000; a match with a far more certain and exact finish than Friday’s, though this finish was even slightly more displeasing to the hardcores. Predictable and painful, and still had wheel barrows of pesos. Stars in big matches draw people, and CMLL is going to stick to this formula.

AAA looks back at Heavy Metal’s history in AAA. Metal’s CMLL run isn’t quite a waste, because I don’t believe he was going to have much great success in AAA the last few years, but there’s not a lot of success there. Seemed more about what stage Heavy Metal is at in his career (and his interest in it) than the booking. Maybe it’ll be different in AAA.

2) Héros & Kid Tornado vs Comando Negro & Heavy Boy
3) ?, Gemelo Fantastico I, Gemelo Fantastico II vs Bombero Infernal, Maldito Jr., Samoth

5) Barba Roja, Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Pirata Morgan vs Negro Navarro, Trauma I, Trauma II

Laguna’s Imperio Azteca back here; was in last September.

CMLL (FRI) 03/26 Arena Mexico
1) Bengala & Robin vs Puma King & Tiger Kid
2) Astral, Bracito de Oro, Eléctrico vs Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito
3) Metro, Sagrado, Valiente vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca
4) Toscano vs Ephesto [lightning]
5) Brazo de Plata, Héctor Garza, Máximo vs Taichi, Terrible, Texano Jr.
6) La Sombra, Shocker, Volador Jr. vs Felino, Negro Casas, Último Guerrero

Main event plays off last week’s finish, of course. Mistico can’t be around unless they’re going to turn Felino face (which doesn’t seem to be the pla, but he definitely got the ‘respected vet loses his mask’ tecnico reaction. Good to see Terrible & Texano make peace with the country of Japan. Warrior & Bracito continue fighting. I dunno about that lightning match.

AAA (FRI) 03/26 Plaza de Toros Tres Caminos, Zapata, Cuernavaca, Morelos
1) Fabi Apache, Mari Apache, Octagoncito vs Mini Abismo Negro, Polvo de Estrellas, Sexy Star
2) Alan Stone, Chris Stone, Último Gladiador vs Cuervo, Escoria, Ozz
3) Aerostar, Laredo Kid, Súper Fly vs Jack Evans, Joe Lider, Nicho el Millionario
4) ?, Chessman, La Parka Jr. vs Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown
5) Cibernético, El Mesías, Marco Corleone vs Dr. Wagner Jr., Electroshock, Silver King

This week’s AAA taping? A random bizarre – Chris Stone! talent raid on RFS!? spot show? Or something even more sinister? I dunno.

CMLL (SUN) 03/28 Arena Coliseo
1) Camaleón & Horus vs Mortis & Zayco
2) Guerrero Maya Jr., Metálico, Tony Rivera vs Apocalipsis, Artillero, Ramstein
3) Molotov, Pegasso, Rey Cometa vs Loco Max, Nitro, Nosferatu
4) Brazo de Plata, Máscara Dorada, Stuka Jr. vs Ray Mendoza Jr., Shigeo Okumura, Taichi
5) Blue Panther, La Máscara, Místico vs Atlantis, Mephisto, Texano Jr.

Mistico, tecnico, blah blah. I don’t know who Mortis is, but he’s locked in on that Sunday opener. Two members of the Mexican Trios champions are actually teaming, so Metro has likely been moved to an undisclosed location to keep us all safe. That second match is quite a crew of guys who you weren’t sure were still around (so much so, maybe it’s a feint.)

CMLL (SUN) 03/28 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Idolo & Virgo vs Acertijo & In Memoria
2) Metatrón & Palacio Negro vs Ebola & Ráfaga
3) Amapola vs Lady Apache [CMLL WOMEN]
4) Héctor Garza, La Sombra, Volador Jr. vs Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas

Lady Apache indeed gets that title match. This is the only match I’ve seen Mr. Niebla listed for this week, but it was probably written before Friday. If Niebla is gone for an extended period, I’d guess they take Felino and Negro in a new direction rather than try to replace Niebla.

IWRG (SUN) 03/28 Arena Naucalpan
1) Daga & Eragon vs Comando Negro & Heavy Boy
2) Bobby Lee Jr., Chico Che, Freelance vs Fishman Jr., Hijo del Signo, Trauma II
3) Canek, La Rocca, Olímpico vs Fuerza Guerrera, Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Máscara Año 2000 Jr.

Two matches TBA.

Mexico results, Sombra

CMLL (FRI) 03/19 Arena Mexico [Box Y Lucha, KrisZ, ESTO, Ovaciones (PDF), Cesar]
1) Dragon Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca b Ángel de Oro, Fuego, Stuka Jr.
2) Mephisto, Terrible, Texano Jr. b Hijo del Fantasma, Máscara Dorada, Valiente
3) Blue Panther, Brazo de Plata, La Máscara b Ray Mendoza Jr., Shigeo Okumura, Taichi
4) Héctor Garza, Máximo, Negro Casas b Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero
5) Místico & Volador Jr. b Felino & La Sombra [elimination]
6) La Sombra b Felino [mask]

R de Rudo has video of Mistico stealing Felino’s pin on Sombra. SuperLuchas has Sombra talking about the biggest win of his career.

I’m not around this afternoon, but if Ras de Lona airs the end of the match, I’ll grab it and put it up later tonight; it may be a long time before we get to see it otherwise.

Taichi says he’s still trying to figure out lucha, but watch out when he does.

Puma King is proud of making it into CMLL on his own, not because he was using the Casas name.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

Rob has a whole lot of CMLL FSE.

I may pop back in with the lineups if they turn up in the next hour.

Just making these easy to find later…

Before the opener, the Legion came to the ring. The NOAH guys are part of the Legion this time (a change from last time, when Morishima had no idea why they were helping him.) They had a face off with Hermandad. Next, Dorian and Konnan introduced their newest signing; not LA Park, but Heavy Metal. The Legion had a big money contract for Metal, but Metal was unsure about signing it (and they might have been something with Zorro in here.) Legion gave him till the end of the night to decide. After the match, Alex Koslov argued with TV comedian/clown Yurem.

Rocky pinned Tigre Cota.

Hijo de Tirantes helped Sexi Star & Rain early and often in their tag match, but Piero ran in to call the DQ.

Alex and Yurem had a match here, with Pimpi helping Yurem win via foul. I don’t know if any of this will air; there’s probably some show Yurem is on that this is designed for.

Wagner, Electro, and Silver King came to the ring to celebrate Electro winning the title. This fell apart pretty quick, with Wagner demanding a title shot, Electro said no, quit the group, and offered to fight right now. They did, and it took security to break it up. They’re pushing Electro as the tecnico.

Super Fly accidentally hit Aerostar early in their match, then wiped out on a dive and was carted off. Just as he was, Scoria used the distraction to beat Laredo.

Takeshi Morishima & Taiji Ishimori beat Nicho & Lider clean to win the tag team titles. Ishimori pinned Nicho (with a “360 plancha”?) Konnan came out, saying this was punishment for Hermandad helping Pimpinela at Rey de Reyes.

Atomicos ended with Konnan (in a Psycho Clown mask?) swinging a chair at Cibernetico but getting Pepe Casas instead. Heavy Metal ran in with his own chair, teased hitting Cibernetico, but instead used it against Kenzo. Metal is with the tecnicos.

Neither the WagnerManiacos or Parka were happy with Pimpi being on the rudo side. Mesias pinned Silver King clean to win the match. After, the Legion ran in, including Sabu (in town for the XLAW show; they probably won’t be following up.) LA Park beat up LA Parka Jr., putting him thru a table then hitting him with the pieces. Jack, Tiger, Laredo, and Aerostar tried to make the save, failed.

Next taping is ???

Dos Leyendas/AAA in DF live coverage

Felino unmasked

The chat is over.. My guess is I’ll be up to 1am CST at least to cover it, though I don’t expect anyone else will. I’ll remove the link after the chat goes down.

Today’s cards

2) Mephisto, Terrible, Texano Jr. b Hijo del Fantasma, Máscara Dorada, Valiente
Crowd is LOUDLY pro-rudo
Villanos appeared to honor Ray Mendoza

3)Blue Panther, Brazo de Plata, La Máscara DQ Negro Casas Okumura, Ray Mendoza Jr., Taichi
– no Negro Casas. Okumura replaced him. Straight fall win for the tecnicos. DQ for Taichi pulling Mascara’s mask.

4) Héctor Garza, Máximo, Mr. Niebla Negro Casas b Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero
Negro Casas is here! For Mr. Niebla, who is who knows where. Maximo wins by beating Rey.

5) Volador Jr. & Místico b Felino & La Sombra (Sombra pinned by Misitco, Felino pinned by Volador)
6) Sombra b Felino via casita [mask]

Felino is Jorge Luis Casas Ruiz, 45 (46 on Monday.)

AAA

Completed

Before the first match, the Legion hit the ring. Bits included

  • the comedian from the press conference getting involved
  • Hermandad and NOAH guys having issues
  • Dorian and Konnan including their newest recruit Heavy Metal. Metal isn’t sure he wants to join, and has some issue with Zorro, so he’s got till the end of the night to decide.

3) Extreme Tiger, Jack Evans, Rocky Romero b Rió Bravo, Tigre Cota, Tito Santana – out of order! I dunno. Rocky beat Cota

1) Cinthia Moreno & Fabi Apache DQ Rain & Sexy Star – After Tirantes helped the rudas all match, Piero ran out to DQ them.

In Ring Bit: WagnerManiacos (Silver, Wagner, Electro – no UG or Pimpi) hit the ring. Wagner congratulates Electro on his win, asks for first shot. Electro says no and quits. They fight.

2) Cuervo, Escoria, Escoria b Aerostar, Laredo Kid, Súper Fly – Super Fly hit Aerostar early (by accident?) to give the Sect the edge. Super Fly wiped himself out on a dive late, needing medical attention. Cuervo got the pin on Laredo, maybe because they were being distracted by Super Fly being carted off.

Alex Koslov lost to clown Yurem. AAA got rid of goofballs for about a day. There was a foul and Pimpinela involved.

4) Taiji Ishimori & Takeshi Morishima b Joe Lider & Nicho el Millionario [AAA TAG] – NOAH guys are now considered part of the Legion, so now the Legion has these titles. Clean win. Konnan appears to explain this is payback for working for Roldan & AAA (by teaming with Pimpi.)

5) Cibernético, Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown b Alex Koslov, Hernandez, Kenzo Suzuki, Zorro
Konnan, with a Psycho Clown mask on, attacked referee Pepe Casas. Just as his brother is losing his mask across town, Heavy Metal appears, attacking Kenzo to help the Clowns win. He’s anti-Legion.

6) El Mesías, La Parka Jr., Octagón b Dr. Wagner Jr., Pimpinela Escarlata, Silver King
As expected, Pimpi is the new WagnerManiaco. Neither the rudos nor Parka like this idea. (Octagon could care less, I guess.)
Mesias pins Silver King. Post match, Sabu runs in and helps the Legion beat down the tecnicos, while LA Park jumps La Parka Jr.

Things we’re watching

CMLL

  • @reformacancha on twitter is reporting on the show live, and updating every few minutes. It is great. I’m under the impression Reforma has good lucha coverage, but it’s behind a paywall (and I’m not sure I could even pay for it if I wanted, being out of the country and all.)
  • EstadioW will have radio coverage at some point.

AAA

more Dos Leyendas previews, Puebla & GDL lineups

AAA says they’ll start their coverage of the DF taping at 8:30 local (9:30 luchablog time) which usually means the coverage won’t actually get going until a half hour later. I will have another post up when coverage starts, but the more stuff I do now, the later I can sleep tomorrow.

Though I’m still not on AAA press list, LuchandoLibre has the AAA version of their press conference yesterday, and none of the CMLL comments are included (which is probably why it also didn’t show up in the other press.) I would’ve figured they said Felino was going to lose his mask specifically to get the press to pick up on it, but maybe AAA’s PR disagreed?

Today’s Wrestling Observer news update picked up on the idea that CMLL might change tonight’s finish because of Dorian’s comments. It’s possible, but they haven’t reacted to stuff that’s web only, and it doesn’t feel like it’s gone past that. Plus, Dorian saying Felino is going to lose is really no different from the press saying the same thing to Felino this week. This is not a new revelation and they’d be silly to change their plans. (Doesn’t mean they won’t.

Late Dos Leyendas previews:
Record
LuchandoLibre
Rob predictions.
Looking at our poll, about 90% of the voters think Felino will tonight, but there is no consesus about who will take it.

Maximo says it was great teaming with his father and uncle, and will battle Asesino Negro if he takes either of their hair.

A new promotion is starting in Chicago on 04/11, though their website actually says they have a show next weekend.

Lineups

IWRG (SUN) 03/21 Arena Naucalpan
1) Daga & Héros vs Comando Negro & Eterno
2) Maldito Jr. & Samoth vs Trauma I & Trauma II
3) Chico Che, Freelance, Leopardo vs Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro
4) Bobby Lee Jr., La Roca, Ultramán Jr. vs Máscara Año 2000, Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Veneno
5) El Hijo del Diablo vs Dr. Cerebro [IWRG IC Light, WWF WELTER]

Main event is title vs title, and Dr. Cerebro is clearly getting the short end of the deal. Diablo is a former WWA Welterweight champion, but he won and lost that belt to Santo long ago. I have him picking up a “World Welterweight Championship” on June 15, 2006 – maybe that’s what this is? Maybe I’ve put too much thought into this already? Maybe the DF commission will be right on this in three weeks or so? Sure.

CMLL (MON) 03/22 Arena Puebla
1) Alarido, Ares, Barbaro I vs Asturiano, Milenium, SWAT
2) Hiroka, La Seductora, Princesa Blanca vs Goya Kong, Lady Apache, Marcela
3) Metro, Stuka Jr., Valiente vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca
4) Felino, Negro Casas, Taichi vs Brazo de Plata, La Sombra, Toscano
5) Místico vs Volador Jr.

This match is building off the finish last Monday, but obviously it’s interesting to have all four wrestlers from tonight in the building at the same time. Mistico is listed for Sunday’s Coliseo show, Volador is in GDL, and the other two are not billed until this show.
