Misterioso fouled Blue Panther for the DQ.

AAA’s Rey de Reyes will be on 03/12 in Queretaro. Probable matches based on TV:

  • Rey de Reyes tournament, in some form
  • Alex Koslov vs Extreme Tiger [AAA CRUISER]
  • Cibernetico vs Konnan (probably not a multiman match, they need bodies for the tournament)
  • Mesias vs Latin Lover vs Electroshock [AAA HEAVY]

If they’re doing the usual 16 man/5 match tournament, then they probably only have room for one more match. Not sure they’re actually doing that until it’s announced.

AAA says TripleMania will be in DF, with more details coming. They also note Dorian is listening to Konnan again. They mean on TV.

A few different places have a CMLL article on Taichi. They’re talking about Taichi being trained by Hiroshi Hase and mention that he used to be a rival of No Limit, but they’ll be on the same page now. Ovaciones’ article says Okumura, Taichi and Naito will be a trio on next Friday’s card.

Fuego en el Ring talks to Metal Blanco & Gallo, who are ready for a mask match with Palacio Negro & Neutron. Also, Mascara Dorada talks about training with Atlantis in preparation for the tournament win.

SuperLuchas interviews X-Fly, who’s already thinking ahead to the hair match past this the announced championship team.

Box Y Lucha has an interview with indy wrestler Guardian de la Noche.

Ohtani’s Jacket starts a 1998 Sampler with Santo/Panther/Warrior vs Negro/Atlantis/Niebla.

The SegundaCaida folks have started an IWRG Message Board. I want to say something snarky like “for all your thoughts about Alan Extreme”, but that’s more a joke about naming yourself Alan Extreme. I’m pretty sure I’d be using my time wiser watching YouTube IWRG than finishing recapping lame duck AAA from December.

IWRG on Teleforumla #13 (01/30/2010)

taped 01/24/10 in Arena Naucalpan

Black Terry & Dr. Cerebro vs Hijo del Diablo & Gringo Loco – I’m not even sure I should bother writing anything here, because I’m still quietly marking out over a guy I’ve seen on shows in front of less than 50 people wrestling on an actual lucha libre show. This is so impressively cool, even if maybe only 50 people get this channel. Match was a good bloody brawl, nothing extraordinary but certainly something a lot different than on a normal CMLL or AAA show, but I was really too busy being amusing by the strangeness of life to form an objective opinion.

By the way, Hijo del Diablo’s listed weight on the luchawiki has to be most inaccurate fact we have on there, and that’s true even if someone’s added themselves as a profile in the last fifteen minutes. Even more the (intentionally inaccurate) Alushe bio! There’s no way Diablo’s under 200 lbs, I refuse to believe it.

IWRG IC Tag Tournament 2010, Block B: Part 1 Part 2 – I had the same problems with this match as the last one that aired; just way too much aimless fighting and people turning on each other fifteen times to make sure you didn’t care the sixteenth. The finish was all sorts of absurd, but at least I’ve delayed this long enough to find out they may actually be going somewhere with it. Still wouldn’t want to watch this again.

02/18 AAA TV Lineup (Toluca)

AAA TV (THU) 02/18 Gimnasio De La Unidad Deportiva, Toluca, Estado De Mexico
1) Mascarita Sagrada, Mini Charly Manson, Octagoncito vs Mini Abismo Negro, Mini Histeria, Mini Psicosis
2) Aerostar, Laredo Kid, Súper Fly vs Billy Boy, Decnnis, El Brazo
3) Extreme Tiger, Jack Evans, Rocky Romero vs Alex Koslov, Joe Lider, Nicho el Millionario
4) El Mesías & Latin Lover vs Chessman & Zorro
5) La Parka Jr., Marco Corleone, Pimpinela Escarlata vs Dr. Wagner Jr., Electroshock, Silver King

2010 AAA TV Lineup
Projected Air Date (#927)
Mexico: 02/28
US: 03/13

So Pimpi joins WagnerMania by…facing them. And Electroshock still needs to work on actually leaving the WagnerManiacos. Maybe they can just trade spots?

Mesias & Latin Lover appear to continue building up to their match at Rey de Reyes match by teaming like gentlemen. Huzzah.

If Tiger is facing Alex for the cruiserweight title, does that mean Jack & Rocky challenge for the tag team titles? Romero would actually be a new challenger for that title.

Some of the matches look good, depending on how much the guys are into it.

Black Terry loses his hair, next AAA taping, Perros

IWRG (SUN) 02/07 Arena Naucalpan [Al Filo del Ring]
1) Alan Extreme b Imperial
2) Eragon & Eros b Avisman & Hijo del Signo
3) Chico Che, el Ángel, Hijo del Pantera b Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Trauma I, Trauma II
4) Máscara Año 2000, Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Veneno b Angelico, Pantera, Rayman
5) Black Terry L El Hijo del Diablo, Gringo Loco, Dr. Cerebro [cage, hair]

Everyone but Black Terry bled in the cage. Gringo Loco was first our, Dr. Cerebro was next, and Hijo del Diablo gave Black Terry a martinete before escaping. A fan was so angry about this, they attacked Gringo Loco on the outside before security got involved.

An article for an AAA show on 02/28 includes a surprise luchador from CMLL (Black Warrior), as well as Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. Maybe Wagner really did resign with AAA, in exchange for his son being picked up?

AAA says their next taping is 02/18 in Toluca. That show will air in Mexico the same weekend as these Black Warrior appearances, so it would make sense for him to be on TV by then. After Toluca, AAA needs two more TV tapings to make it to Rey de Reyes.

AAA catches up with Tiffany. It’s kind of like a “where are they now?” interview, except the answer is “still on the roster, just not on TV.”

Atlantis says his team won the tournament because of their positive mindset.

Fuego en el Ring talks to Guadalajara wrestlers Magnum & Samuray, who want to have a match against each other after their many failures as a team.

TabascoHoy has a two page foldout story on Perros del Mal (page 2) local show. Don’t seem a number, but it looks like they drew pretty well. Sure a lot of football gimmicks for a show going on against the Super Bowl.

Record reprints the article from their magazine about Lluvia’s internet cafe.

The Gladiatores has photos and video of the press conference for the new Santo book

DJ Spectro has a El Cobarde biography.

Kcidis illustrates the new Mistico.

Box Y Lucha has a Villano III column on being in charge of a show, and why you should not let Villano IV run the dessert stand.

On flickr, there’s a cool mask data visualization poster, matching up who lost their mask to whom, and who teamed with whom. There seems to more lucha visualizations concepts on his website.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update and Alfredo on 01/22 CMLL. I like the idea of adding more places if they run the national tournament agian next year. The more regions (and the less forced teams), the better.

Lineups

indy (TUE) 02/09 Arena Coliseo Monterrey
1) Principe Leo vs Diamante Negro
2) Ángel Espacial & Infinito vs Gian Carlo & Solovino
3) Pulpo & Zodiaco vs Bello Rubi & Koko Viper
4) Gato Fantasma & Hijo del Ninja vs Lover Boy & Simbolo
5) Orlando Santa Cruz, Rambo, Silver Star vs Furor, Hijo del Cien Caras, Pierko el Boricua

4) Blue Panther, Strong Man, Toscano vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
5) Hijo del Fantasma vs Negro Casas [CMLL MIDDLE]

New lineup because of the title match; they got rid of one match instead of going to six.

Perros (SAT) 02/20 Centro Civico de Ecatepec
1) ? vs ??
2) Cósmico & Konami vs Black Fire & Mr. Aguilita
3) ?, Celestial, Oriental vs Histeria II, Pesadilla, Ragde
4) X-Fly vs Charly Manson [MEX HEAVY]
5) Blue Demon Jr., LA Park, Super Crazy vs el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Halloween, Mr. Águila

Next TV taping for them. Since they probably won’t be turning this around in two days, this date means they’ll need to get three weeks out of the previous taping. Kind of a surprise they’re not running six matches here too, so every taping can last three weeks.

Note the DTU guys in the tercera.

Mistico wins, Guadalajara

CMLL (SUN) 02/07 Arena Coliseo [Ovaciones]
1) Cholo & Zayco b Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II
2) Delta, Metálico, Starman b Disturbio, Puma King, Tiger Kid
3) Ángel Azteca Jr., Fabián el Gitano, Guerrero Maya Jr. b Arkangel de la Muerte, Nitro, Skándalo
4) Rush, Stuka Jr., Valiente b Dragon Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Shigeo Okumura
5) Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas b Hijo del Fantasma, La Sombra, Sagrado
6) Brazo de Plata, Héctor Garza, Místico b Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero

Mistico did not get along with his teammates. Hector replaced Strong Man, which surely did not help. Mistico didn’t really get along with the rudos either, fouling Atlantis for the win. Mistico seems less a rudo and more a lone wolf.

Peste Negra swept the semimain, and Negro demanded a shot at Fantasma’s middleweight title. Not sure if it’ll be this week or next.

Fourth match was said to be best match on the show.

CMLL (SUN) 02/07 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Templario b Nocturno
2) In Memoria b El Divino
3) Drago & Ebola b Magnum & Samurai
4) Gallo & Metal Blanco b Neutrón & Palacio Negro
5) Ángel de Oro & Ángel de Plata b Euforia & Pólvora
6) La Máscara, Máscara Dorada, Toscano DQ Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto

Mephisto yanked Dorada’s mask for the DQ.

Undercard was a bit changed, but made sense – the fourth match was a rematch from the previous week. Gallo & Metal Blanco had unified masks; if only there were tag team champs for them to challenge. Magnum & Samurai did not get along/lost again.

Ovaciones also had an interview with Atlantis, who said he’s not close to retiring; he’ll think about it in twenty more years.
