Today, one of the big awards, and one of those which always ends up with a wide variety of answers:
CMLL (FRI) 02/19 Arena Mexico [Ovaciones (PDF), SuperLuchas, Cesar, Notimex]
1) Delta & Diamante b Puma King & Tiger Kid
2) Pequeño Universo 2000, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito b Bracito de Oro, Eléctrico, Mascarita Dorada
3) Dragon Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Shigeo Okumura b Ángel de Oro, Ángel de Plata, Sagrado
4) La Sombra DQ Felino [lightning]
5) Naito, Ray Mendoza Jr., Taichi b Máximo, Mr. Niebla, Strong Man
6) Héctor Garza, Último Guerrero, Volador Jr. DQ La Máscara, Místico, Negro Casas
Pequeno Warrior fouled and pinned Bracito de Oro, then challenges him to a mask match. That might be a semimain really soon. Just to be thorough, CMLL.com reports Warrior did another promo backstage, also challenging Bam Bam (CMLL Minis), Pierroth (Mex Light) and Mascarita Dorada (mask). He should go ahead and challenge Octagoncito again while he’s at it.
Sombra/Felino was the best match of the night. Puma King (maybe the fake Felino from a couple Tuesday ago?) came to the ramp, which distracted the referee. Sombra alertly pulled Felino’s mask and cradled him, so Puma King ran in and broke it up for the DQ.
Taichi’s team won in straight falls in a comedy match. Taichi has a blog!
Negro Casas came to the ring with a trash bag – that had his belts in it. Mistico still had the light heavyweight title. Volador walked towards Mistico during his entrance, which was just a distraction to set up Sombra sneaking up from behind, grabbing the belt back. That didn’t last long – Felino attacked Sombra, taking his mas and Mistico got the belt back.
Garza got Mascara and UG beat Negro Casas for the first fall. Negro beat Garza and Mascara put UG in the campana for the second fall. Mistico was dominated Volador in the corner, Babe Richard told Mistico to let Volador out and Mistico shoved him down. DQ. Match was quick, the first two falls lasting under 2 minutes, and the match was under 9 minutes.
Commissioner Scorpio stole the light heavyweight belt and gave it to Volador, while Mistico proclaimed he didn’t care about that title, or Rey del Aire, or the boos from the fans, only making Volador looking bad and taking his mask. Volador accepted! (And then they fought again.) Mistico vs Volador Jr. appears set for Dos Leyendas.
Black Terry Jr. has pictures of what appears to be Super Calo’s promotion! I just had someone ask me about his group this week, and I didn’t thing there had been any mention of it since last year’s Lucha Libre Expo show. Looks like he’s been working hard on a nice set up. Website is at http://www.revolutionfs.com.mx/ but does not have a lot of info. More details at Box Y Lucha, and videos at his YouTube.
Psycho Circus say their win total is 553.
AAA posted lineups for the Torreon and Monterrey lineups. The posters included Black Warrior and Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr., but those names are left off AAA’s listings. Black Warrior’s spot is occasionally listed as suprise luchador, so he’s probably working this show in Veracruz.
Multiple Joe Lider interviews: AAA talks with the Hermandad (who don’t consider themselves part of the Legion, so were upset when Konnan mentioned the Legion would have all the titles), and Record talks to Joe Lider about his career. A very predictable but amusing quote:
One day surfing the Internet I found a company called CZW (Combat Zone Wrestling), they practiced the fighting style ultra violent. It occurred to me order online a video and got my hands on a special struggles pure ‘Death Match’; I really liked the style and thought, why not do that here in Guadalajara? to see if people believe again in the struggle.
Record has an interview with Dos Caras Sr. about his acupuncture training (presumably not from YouTube.)
DJ Spectro. looks back at an Anabel, Rayo de Jalisco, El Solitario and La Momia mask match.
LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

Mistico with the Peste Negra; things have changed. I like that tecnico trio as a new Super Sky Team.
Is Maximo a rudo now, or does he just go rudo whenever Mr. Niebla is around? No lighting match, which may by why there’s a rare tercera in the opener. (Or maybe Bracito and Warrior is happening sooner than we thought?)
