01/17 AAA TV Taping (Ecatpec)

AAA TV (SUN) 01/17 Centro Civico de Ecatepec
1) La Parkita, Mini Charly Manson, Octagoncito vs Mini Abismo Negro, Mini Histeria, Mini Psicosis
2) Cuervo, Escoria, Espíritu, Ozz vs Amnesia, Black Abyss, Histeria, Psicosis III
3) Extreme Tiger & Jack Evans vs Joe Lider & Nicho el Millionario
4) Crazy Boy, La Parka Jr., Laredo Kid vs Electroshock, Silver King, Último Gladiador
5) Cibernético, Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown vs Chessman, Kenzo Suzuki, Konnan, Zorro

Last 2 tapings here: 06/17/09 (Konnan gets indefinitely suspended), 02/15/09 (Charly Manson’s return). I believe this is also where the Perros ran their last TV taping, though I may be confusing two buildings.

2010 TV Taping Chart
Projected Air Date (#922)
Mexico: 01/24 – this fits perfectly with the 2 Best Of shows I’d be guessing at.
US: 02/01

Main event is interesting – this is clearly a match the Psycho Circus could lose to end the streak. On the other hand, Cibernetico was being built as a near unstoppable monster, coming back on 2-1, 3-1, 5-1 and 7-1 numbers. The only thing that could stop Cibernetico was white powder. (…) As long as the clowns can keep an eye on Rain, they should be all good here.

Laredo in the semimain event would be interesting if it wasn’t so clear he was there to be killed by the rudos.

Tercera took place on the last card of last year. It sounded like the Hermanidad were pretty dominant, so it’s a surprise to see it here. Probably nothing better to do.

Should Ozz & crew just be happy to get on TV? Only this and the opener actually look like matches I’d like to see, and this one only counts because I have no idea about the new Vipers yet and I have misplaced hope for good Dark Family matches.

Divina’s injury opens up a spot for a mini tecnico, assuming AAA runs many mini trios. The current Mascarita Sagrada is OK at best. Parkita (III) gets a shot here, but he’s no great shakes either. You know who they could use? Atomic Boy!

  1. I wonder if Televisa is doing the CMLL Year-End simply b/c AAA is too, so that no one is airing new footage this weekend?

  2. Centro Civico de Ecatepec is where the Perros ran their show. Seems like an odd/smallish/kind of crappy venue for a AAA TV taping, but I’ve only seen them in the DF so I guess I don’t really know what the locations they normally tape at are like.

  3. That AAA mini’s division is going nowhere. Without Divina the only tecnico worth a damn is Octagoncito and how stale is he by now? Atomic Boy would work (and doesn’t he still do spot shows as a mini sometimes?) but how bad would it look to demote him to the mini’s division 6 months after he got “promoted” (AAA’s words!) to the regular sized division. Even turning one of the mini rudos wouldn’t work b/c none of them work tecnico style and would bomb as bad as Mini Charly has. If it were me… I’d bring in Mascarita De Oro y Plata from the Villalobos/Wagner shows. He’s really good.

Second match could be fun depending on how these new Vipers are in the ring. Stable vs stable feuds are always fun but the issue is it never leads anywhere. No matter what stable wins – can you imagine either being promoted?

Rest of the card is the norm. Very lackluster for a first taping.

Am I missing something here or are we counting a loss in an atomicos match as a their streak being over? I thought it was only when they team that the streak is on the line. Don’t recall those Atomicos Titles matches w/ Chessman in Dec. 08/Jan. 09 counting towards the streak.

  4. I think Mini Charly is OK. Far ahead of Sagrada & Parkita, at least.

But if I were a mini who had left a promotion thinking jumping to the Perros del Mal would be the way to go, this would seem to be an opportunity to undo that mistake.

  5. @thecubsfan: Let me clarify…

Mini Charly is fine but he’s an obvious rudo. His look, his moves, his negative charisma and the way he carries himself in the ring. He’s not a tecnico. Never should have been made one but someone got a little too obsessed with turning minis along with their larger counterparts. Remember Mini Chessman turned tecnico too but that was dropped b/c NOTHING about him says tecnico. Same goes for Mini Charly. He had time to prove himself against Mini Abismo and failed. They just didn’t work well together.

Also, in my opinion the only time you can have a successful mini’s division is when you have big rudos tossing around little spectacular tecnicos. AAA doesn’t have that. The top babyface (Mini Charly) is the biggest guy. The top heel (Mini Abismo) is stuck carrying a new fake Mascarita through spots the old one used to do.

It’s just not gonna work with the current crew.

  6. @thecubsfan: This will come across as me defending the Perros again, but it shouldn’t because it is more about how bad AAA is right now. I think the minis in PdM are probably in a better place right now than those in AAA. Outside of Octagoncito and Mini Abismo, I would bet that they have worked more shows since jumping than any of the minis in AAA. They also work higher up the card and generally get a better reaction from the crowd than the AAA guys (at least for the Aguilita and Halloweencito).
