Naucalpan, Mexico, GDL, Wagner, Juvi

IWRG (SUN) 12/13 Arena Naucalpan [The Gladiatores]
1) Dinamita Kid b Cometa De Fuego
2) Maldito Jr. & Samoth b Diva Salvaje & Miss Gaviota
3) Capitán Muerte, Gringo Loco, Xibalba b Eragon, Exodia, Zatura
4) Angelico, Bushi, Mike Segura DQ Trauma I, Trauma II, Veneno
5) Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Hijo del Cien Caras, Pirata Morgan b Canek, Pantera, Scorpio Jr.

In the main event, Pirata fouled Canek and got his feet on the ropes for a pin. They challenged for a singels match.

Traumas are rudos. Did I miss a turn? Veneno was trying to slap Angelico late, and knocked down a ref instead. The other ref let the match continue, but just as Veneno was making a winning pinfall, the victimized ref recovered enough to call the DQ.

Tercera pushed a Xibalba/Exodia feud. They’re both in tomorrow’s cage match.

CMLL (TUE) 12/15 Arena Mexico [ESTO]
1) Astro Boy & Bengala b Cholo & Zayco
2) Fabián el Gitano, Metatrón, Tigre Blanco ?? Inquisidor, Puma King, Tiger Kid
3) Ángel Azteca Jr., Ángel de Oro, Ángel de Plata b Cancerbero, Pólvora, Raciel
4) Fuego, Sagrado, Stuka Jr. DQ Sangre Azteca, Vangelis, Virus
5) Dragon Rojo Jr., Felino, Negro Casas b Blue Panther, La Sombra, Metro

Captain Negro beat captain Panther in the third fall. Panther challenged Negro to a singles match, but Negro was non-committal.

Rudos lost the semiman in straight falls. Sangre fouled Stuka in the second

Cancerbero & Raciel debut and lose, even though Angel de Oro was hurt during the match. Cholo was also hurt in the opener, but Zayco wasn’t as lucky.

No mention of the segundas.

CMLL (TUE) 12/15 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) El Divino & Thunder Boy b Ebola & Exterminador
2) Neutrón & Virgo b Malefico & Ráfaga
3) Gallo b Mr. Trueno
4) Rouge & Valiente b Nosferatu & Shigeo Okumura
5) Atlantis & Averno b Héctor Garza & Máscara Dorada

Atlantis snuck in a foul on Garza, who demanded a singles matches for next week.

We had it wrong, and DJ Spectro breaks the story wide open: Fabi Apache magically grew her hair back in 48 hours! It all makes sense now.

Even though Mesias won the title match at Guerra de Titanes, Dr. Wagner Jr. still considers himself the better man. Why did I even write that sentence? That was the most unnecessary sentence in the history of a weblog paying way too much attention to Mexican wrestling. If Dr. Wagner did not consider himself the better man (compared to anyone, ever, in the history of time), he’d stop being Dr. Wagner. Anyway, Wagner would like Mesais’ hair, and he could use some better hair.

Here’s a thought, and I think I’m stealing it from someone in on a message board, but I can’t remember who: Wagner signed with AAA for a year sometime before TripleMania. Next year’s TripleMania is still about half a year away, but with Latin/Mesias locked for Rey de Reyes, Wagner’s not going to main event a major show again until after that contract runs out. Is he going to sign for another year? Maybe we’ll be able to tell by how they use him on Rey de Reyes?

AAA quotes Cibernetico as saying he thought the Guerra de Titanes street match would be a one on one battle with Konnan. Really? Cibernetico’s gotta be smarter than that.

SuperLuchas has an interview with Mistico, who says he’ll rest for six months before going back to NJPW – he doesn’t want to overexpose himself in Japan. Also, he’d like Felino’s mask.

In an another interview with SuperLuchas, Juvi says Super X is still ongoing (though the myspace link he gives doesn’t work), still teases a lawsuit against Konnan (and cuts quite the promo on him), and wants to do a Super X/CMLL partnership. That last part would mostly be Juvi (successfully) defending his NWE belt against CMLL’s wrestlers, while CMLL would get…?

Mini Black Warrior won an unidentifiable title.

The Blue Demon Jr. vs Konnan Big scheduled for yesterday in Monterrey was canceled. Officially, it’s electrical issues in the building, but only about a 100 people had shown up to the building at that point. It’s supposedly rescheduled for next month.

Your the wrestlers of the day aren’t as good as the wrestlers of old article, in the guise of talking about tonight’s UWE show at Arena Lopez Mateos. Keep forgetting to post the lineup for that one, how about here:

UWE (WED) 12/16 Arena Lopez Mateos
1) Climax I & Climax II vs Rojo Vio & Simbolo
2) Aguila Solitaria, Ciclón Ramírez, Pantera vs Rocco Valente, Tony Arce, Vulcano
3) Javier Cruz, Javier Rocca, Javier Valaguez vs Hombre Bala, Pirata Morgan, Verdugo
4) El Dandy, Faraon, Lizmark Sr. vs Emilio Charles Jr., Fuerza Guerrera, Sangre Chicana

These sometimes air on AYM Sports, if I could actually record the shows there.

The annual Gomez Palacio Luchador 5K Run is this Sunday.

Kcidis looks back at Mistico’s 2009 and wishes for 2010.

LuchaWorld has Alfredo’s IWRG recap, which I need to wait to read until I get a chance to watch it (tonight? I hope? and maybe I should post the video at some point?)

Cesar rates the top CMLL rookie of the year, the most improved and wrestler of the year.

CMLL’s Twitter notes Avenro retained the Mexican Light Heavyweight Championship over Mephisto. Oh, so close.

CMLL (MON) 12/21 Arena Puebla
1) Blue Center, King Jaguar, Milenium vs Ares, Barbaro I, Espiritu Maligno
2) Guerrero Maya Jr., Starman, Tony Rivera vs Artillero, Durango Kid, Súper Comando
3) Metro, Rouge, Stuka Jr. vs Euforia, Pólvora, Virus
4) Hijo del Fantasma vs Sangre Azteca [CMLL MIDDLE]
5) La Máscara, Místico, Volador Jr. vs Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas

Title match should be good.

  1. None of those dudes are rookies. Debuts of the year for CMLL and how in the world did he forget STRONGMAN! That’s not right at all! STRONGMAN is the debut, most improved, tag team, trio, bus-pulling, chair stacking, edecanes carrying wrestler of the year!

I’m kind of surprised Cesar didn’t include Negro Casas on his list. Its really between him, Mistico and UG.

  2. Speaking of Hijo del Cien Caras, his luchawiki page, Cien Caras’s page, and Cien Caras Jr’s page are all somewhat contradictory in terms of relations.

  3. If you look closely at the “unidentifiable” title that Mini Black Warrior is holding, you can easily see the “WCW” logo, so I am assuming it is a WCW Cruiserweight Championship that was painted to say “World Jr. Heavyweight Wrestling Champion”.

  4. Shouldn’t Fapi be bald? She should be because that is how an apuestas match is all about. You can’t break tradition! That’s what I hate apuestas matches. If a wrestler loses his or her mask, they will still wear it regardless of the wager. Whatever.

  6. Looks like Ras De Lona is airing on Fridays at 7:30. That’s what the tv ads say, and that’s usually the weekly “premiere” of the show, probably repeating on Mon and Wed at 6.

I think that’s great. On a few occasions, a repeat aired, and I figured the tape did not arrive on time because the final edit airs on Sat in Mexico, and was airing on Tuesday in the US. This gives everyone more time.

  7. @Tim

I was thinking more along the lines that Waggner might beat Messias for the title before Rey de Reyes on regular AAA tv. Then the main event could be Waggner vs Latin Lover.

But I think that the most likely scenario is that AAA has promised Waggner a future title match on a major show and that will be leverage for AAA when getting him to re-sign.

  8. I wonder if the decision to start using the new fakes now was so last second that at least one of them is someone who impressed in MTY.

  9. @Rob: I’d think it’d take a while to get the gear (in the right size) ready

But then – how long did it take for Mascarita Divina and Mini Charly Manson (a slightly easier costume) to get their gear? I don’t remember it taking that long.

  10. I wanted to see the wrestler name thing go to court again, because I want to see them try and say they own the Charlie Manson character when it’s just copying a living person without permission in the first place.
