Lineups, Rata I, other such stories

Mail is working. I think.

Let’s start with the major lineups, because there’s no actual news:

CMLL (TUE) 11/10 Arena Mexico
1) Principe & Trueno vs Apocalipsis & Ramstein
2) Diamante, Leono, Tony Rivera vs Bronco, Dr. X, René Guajardo Jr.
3) Flash, Rouge, Stuka Jr. vs Loco Max, Nitro, Skándalo
4) Sagrado, Toscano, Valiente vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca
5) Héctor Garza, Máscara Dorada, Shocker vs Atlantis, Felino, Negro Casas

Just a standard Friday card. Nothing really good – they could have one good match if they swapped Toscano and Dorada, but Dorada being on top two straight weeks across from Felino & Negro seems like they’re setting something up.

IWRG (THU) 11/12 Arena Naucalpan
1) Dinamic Black vs Comando Negro
2) Eragon & Star Boy vs Epidemia & Heavy Boy
3) Bushi, Chico Che, Freelance vs Avisman, Cerebro Negro, Gringo Loco
4) Jack, Trauma I, Trauma II vs Arlequin Amarillo, Arlequin Rojo, Arlequin Verde
5) Hijo del Lizmark, Ultramán Jr., Zatura vs Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro

At least, I’m under the impression that’s the ex-CMLL wrestler and not the mysterious new son in the main event. The Arlequines are all back together, except for the Negro one (who, given this is IWRG, we may never see again.) The Gringo Loco/Bushi feud may still be going on here – who will need to go home first?

CMLL (FRI) 11/13 Arena Mexico
1) Bengala & Súper Camaleón vs Escorpion & René Guajardo Jr.
2) Estrella Mágica, Lady Apache, Lluvia vs Amapola, Mima Shimoda, Yezca
3) Ángel de Oro vs Arkangel de la Muerte [lightning]
4) La Máscara, La Sombra, Máximo vs Ephesto, Mephisto, Virus
5) Averno, Terrible, Texano Jr. vs Shigeo Okumura, Tetsuya Naito, Yujiro
6) Héctor Garza, Místico, Strong Man vs Atlantis, Negro Casas, Último Guerrero

Guess we’re not done with lightning matches after all. Or Strong Man, since he’s back here to make Ultimo’s life miserable. I wonder if they’ll run more women and minis matches until post-France tour.

CMLL (SUN) 11/15 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) El Divino vs Skaxy
2) Angelo & Idolo vs Ebola & Exterminador
3) Mascarita Dorada, Meteoro, Saturno vs Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito
4) La Sombra, Máximo, Volador Jr. vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
5) Neutrón vs Samurai, Gallo, Magnum, Leon Blanco, Egipcio, Infierno, Rafaga [cage, mask]

Egipcio seems to be the favorite. I wouldn’t be shocked if Neutron lost it here, if they wanted someone to get a big win. Note a couple locals wrestling with the minis, including Saturno (who wrestled as a mini when he was in DF.) Maximo’s not going to make that match, because…

CMLL (SUN) 11/15 Arena Mexico
1) Astro Boy, Delta, Sensei vs Puma King, Semental, Tiger Kid
2) Bam Bam, Bracito de Oro, Shockercito vs Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Universo 2000, Pequeño Violencia
3) Máscara Dorada, Rouge, Toscano vs Terrible, Texano Jr., Vangelis
4) Máximo vs Shigeo Okumura [hair]
5) Blue Panther, Héctor Garza, Shocker vs Felino, Negro Casas, Ray Mendoza Jr.

He’s here instead. Why did Okumura have to win the Gran Alternativa, again? If he loses this, it’s vertified as a waste of time. That hair match seems lined up for 52MX, which may or may not mean something to me by the time it airs.

IWRG (SUN) 11/15 Arena Naucalpan
1) Bracito de Platino & Octagoncito vs Mascarita Año 2000 & Piratita Morgan
2) Freelance, Jack, Trauma I vs Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro
3) Angelico, Bobby Lee Jr., Olímpico vs Fuerza Guerrera, Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Pirata Morgan

Only 3 matches announced, and probably one match of significance to be added. Maybe they can bring back the IWRG Women’s Title for Flor Metalica to win? We really need more pointless titles awarded,

Misterioso was raising money for a needy family in Guadalajara today.

Interesting note from SuperLuchas #339. They’ve got a recap of a JAPW show from October, with Val Venis on it. The writer happened to talked to Val, who said his trip to Mexico might be postponed due to the birth of a child (hey, congrats!), but he was talking about going to work for AAA, not CMLL. I have no idea what to make of that.

SuperLuchas also has an odd interview, where Black Terry, Dr. Cerebro and Cerebro Negro request a shot at the Mexican National Trios titles, held by Poder Mexica. That’s not going to happen, even if Black Warrior wasn’t on a milk carton. I understand why they’re doing, the old challenging people you know won’t show up so you can say they’re scared bit, but you’d think IWRG might want to promote matches that might actually happen.

In much more vital information, an interview with La Rata confirms it is the original La Rata I from AAA. He says he had the gimmick and brought it to Antonio Pena, but owns it himself. La Rata says there were actually two other Ratas – a kid from Tijuana who left to go back independent, then a guy from Mexico City who left the company. Maybe the latter was the La Rata II who lost the retirement match? No explanation of where La Rata I has been since 2005, of course.

There’s plenty of more stuff in the magazine. Go click the link and buy a copy.

Cronicas Y Leyendas looks back at Rene Guajardo & Karloff Lagarde, “the best tag team of 1960-1965”, as well as Popitekus losing to the hair to Brazo de Oro, and the first UWA women’s champion.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

indy (SUN) 11/08 Arena La Rosita
1) Subsero & Toro Nordico vs Ares & Discipulo
2) Arana Cibernetico, Black Steel, Rey Sagitario vs Maquina 27, Principe Azul, Principe Halcon Jr.
3) Baby Marvin, Charly Montanta, Eterno, Silver Boy vs Depredador, Sepultura Bumernag, Sexy Libra
4) Black Boy, Dorado Jr., El Ranchero, Hijo Suraino Jr., Indio Chirikawa vs Alfil, Arana Steel, Piloto Negro, Tackle, V-57
5) Arana Cibernetico, Black Jet, Espanto V, Kain vs Dorado, Hijo del Soberano, Sexy Piscis, Stuka Jr.

Super overflowing card here because it’s a
benefit for Gran Davis Jr.’s family.. Hope it all goes well. It’s interesting that no matter how many people are on the card, they’re not going to even a sixth match.

  1. “Neutrón vs Samurai, Gallo, Magnum, Leon Blanco, Egipcio, Infierno, Rafaga [cage, mask]” O think Egipcio is losing as well. Rafaga must not lose, because he has an awesome looking mask.

  2. IWRG’s dedicating a whole show to a tournament is something that CMLL should learn from.

Arlequin Negro is by far my favorite Arlequin.

  3. that Halloween episode, which I finally watched on LATV at 6p, was something Pena would’ve liked. it was very Tuesday Night Titans-esque.

  4. I’m sorry you’ll probably never get to see Arlequin Negro again, Alan.

My favorite Arlequin is whichever one they will debut next Sunday so he can drop his mask 4 days later. It’ll be the most fantastic 4 days ever~!

Hey Alan, do you recall if the FSE opener with Felino’s kids, Delta, etc. was shown in full? The show was uploaded today (shocking!) but there was no second fall. Not sure if it was FSE editing it out or the guy who recorded it just missed it. Show came in at 40:00 which sounds about right.

  5. @Rob: I’d like a lot of the other Arlequins more if they would disappear.

I’m not actually sure on the FSE opener. I only caught parts of it, and thought the second fall must have just been fast when I came back to it and the fall I was watching was over and they said it was the third fall. So I’m guessing it probably didn’t air on TV either.
