CMLL (FRI) 10/16 Arena Mexico [box y lucha, SuperLuchas, ESTO]
1) Molotov & Starman b Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Amapola, Hiroka, Princesa Sujei b Estrella Mágica, Lluvia, Marcela
3) Hijo del Fantasma, Stuka Jr., Valiente b Dragon Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca
4) Volador Jr. b Averno [lightning]
5) Místico, Shocker, Strong Man DQ Atlantis, Negro Casas, Último Guerrero
6) Yujiro b Black Warrior [hair]
Main event went under 7 minutes (the 11:15 time limit in action)
Box Y Lucha posted a lot of articles on Friday, including interviews with Dr. Wagner Jr., Tirantes, Psicosis II, Xtreme Tiger, Sexi Star, Hiroka, CMLL trainee Acuarius, CMLL trainee Insolito, and Chipas area champ Rey Persa. Plus, Villano III talks about learning to stick up wounds.
Newspaper rankings for AAA wrestlers have Sexi Star 1st, evil Zorro 5th, and good Zorro 10th.
DJ Spectro has a good post about the different types of referees.
Lineups
CMLL (TUE) 10/20 Arena Mexico
1) Apolo Estrada Jr. & Sensei vs Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Dr. X, Hooligan, Nitro vs Astro Boy, Guerrero Maya Jr., Starman
3) Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Violencia, Pierrothito vs Bracito de Oro, Eléctrico, Mascarita Dorada
4) La Sombra, Máscara Dorada, Toscano vs Felino, Heavy Metal, Virus
5) Naito, Ray Mendoza Jr., Yujiro vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
The segunda has 3 of the 12. I’ve been leaning towards Hooligan as my pick for loser, but would he really just show up 2 days later without a mask? (Yea, maybe.) Minis match has a good spot though not the best lineup. They haven’t done No Limit/V5 vs Avernos before – usually they’re together. Hmmm.
CMLL (FRI) 10/23 Arena Mexico
1) Yezca & Zeuxis vs Estrella Mágica & Lluvia
2) Pequeño Damian 666 vs Bam Bam [lightning]
3) Dragon Rojo Jr., Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca vs Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara, Valiente
4) Naito, Shigeo Okumura, Yujiro vs Black Warrior, Blue Panther, Héctor Garza
5) Averno vs Volador Jr. [NWA MIDDLE]
6) Místico, Shocker, Strong Man vs Atlantis, Negro Casas, Último Guerrero
How do they determine which middleweight title it is? Coin flip? Does Averno just reach into a dark closet, and it’s whatever title he pulls out.
Lots of rematches – 3, 4 (maybe it’ll be Garza/Panther? vs No Limit – building new stars!!), 5, 6, and they’ve done the lightning match before. That opener is also exciting for all the wrong reasons.
CMLL (SUN) 10/25 Arena Mexico
1) Inquisidor & Semental vs Bengala & Trueno
2) Amapola, La Nazi, La Seductora vs Estrella Mágica, Marcela, Zeuxis
3) Leono, Starman, Tony Rivera vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Loco Max, Skándalo
4) Máximo, Sagrado, Valiente vs Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca, Shigeo Okumura
5) Brazo de Plata, Héctor Garza, Shocker vs Naito, Ray Mendoza Jr., Yujiro
And, he’s back. There was some talk that AAA had taken ownership of “Brazo de Plata” (and “Super Porky”), and CMLL was staying away from all ex-AAA guys who didn’t own their names. Doesn’t appear to be the case, but it’s something worth watching.
Poder Mexica should not be succesfully teaming with Okumura.
We can add Arkangel and Skandalo to those working the next week, which leaves:
- Flash
- Tiger Kid
- Ángel de Oro
- Pegasso
- Tigre Blanco
- Rey Cometa
- Pólvora
None of those 7 are scheduled for Puebla. We don’t have a Tuesday lineup for GDL yet.
Actual News Item: CMLL.com confirms that Misterioso II is in and Black Warrior is out of Poder Mexica. No mention of where this leaves the Mexican National Trios Titles.

Note that the Sunday lineup is listed as Arena Mexico, because that’s what it says on CMLL.com. I think it’ll turn out to be a typo.
@thecubsfan: Could they be doing some work on Coliseo?
I have no issues with Averno + Mephisto shaving No Limit bald @ year end show.
So I see the XEJTV feed is down again. Of course it worked when the Gymnastics was on but not now.
CMLL FSE gets LeoNo! and the Strongman/Guerrero build. How long has it been since they gave 52mx the main event feud? Kind of wish they had this time through. Felino is at least wearing a new Peste tshirt.
@Alan: Just to rub it in – you got Strongman, Leono and Ramstein. 52MX got:
3) Eléctrico, Mascarita Dorada, Pequeño Olímpico DQ Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Violencia, Pierrothito
4) La Máscara, Máscara Dorada, Sagrado b Felino, Heavy Metal, Sangre Azteca
Oh yes.
I wonder if the gymnastics was so bad it broke the feed?
nothing from last night is airing. Getting minis from Anniversary and Sagrado/Fantasma/Mascara vs Triada del Terror.
NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE!
Nice going trying to kill Guapito Lider, you incompetent Jackass.
second match is from July 31.
“Yujiro b Black Warrior [hair]” Damn, wrong again. I won’t say what my overall is this year, but it’s double digits, & I’ve been wrong majority of the time.:) “Newspaper rankings for AAA wrestlers have Sexi Star 1st, evil Zorro 5th, and good Zorro 10th.” I’d rank masked Zorro 1st, followed by AeroStar. “CMLL.com confirms that Misterioso II is in and Black Warrior is out of Poder Mexica.” YAY Misterioso, viva El Rey del Yoghurt !!
The only big negative I have about the new production is the amount of times they show that Konnan in limo video. It had to air like 20 times during the show and the show isn’t even over!
It seems like they dumped Noti AAA on this episode, which I think is a bad idea. In fact, I think the last year or so were they’ve shortened that segment was a huge mistake. It kept people updated on storylines and had some fun clips and interviews. Hopefully, it was just a one-time thing or I totally missed it due to watching South Park on-line.
@Alan: So 3 matches from July 31st have aired now, only the opener is missing and of course the cage match for us non-TDN folk.
Strange that Cesar hasn’t said anything about the show last night.
In some good news for fans of Delta and Mascara Dorada (that’s me!) – the C3 WMP feed is up and looking good.
Wasn’t it up last week too?
Put me down for Angel de Oro taking Polvora’s mask tomorrow.
@Rob: I had forgotten that the July 31 show didn’t air that weekend.
Cubs, I think there should have been a poll on whether or not the PdM show actually airs tonight.
Delta passes the fashion test. As does Escorpion with that hair.
Metalico and Puma King = giant fail.
The C3 is as good as I have seen it, even at normal size.
Any news as far as what the attendance for last night’s Arena Mexico show was?
@Alan: I actually was going to do that, but I thought I used up my allotment of cynical-ness for the week.
(There probably will be a poll for the mask match tmrw. Probably.)
I watched the first AAA match from MTY. I have no clue what they used to tape. Maybe film. It’s a strange look.
In the first match, the camera angles were literally 99.9% floor and crane cams. That’s total garbage. Garbage.
NotiAAA was my favorite seg too. It’s being phased out for sure.
Shouldn’t the Zorras be there to congratulate?
I wish we could see the Japanese win the Mex Trios and then have Poder v2 win the CMLL Trios, but I guess they can’t hold the Mexican National title – have them steal it and then defend the Japanese National Trios title or something.
“Konnan aparece en la pantalla gigante dando un mensaje: regresa a Dorian si Alex Koslov vuelve hoy a la AAA. ”
Wait…
I thought Koslov didn’t want to be in AAA?
@Rob: No, he wanted to be there, that’s why he was suing them for discrimination.
No PdM yet.
The referees totally fucked up the finish to the segunda on C3. They’ve been doing that crotch your opponent on the ringpost spot for YEARS without a DQ and now suddenly it is? How dumb are these old men? It’s funny b/c earlier in the day I was watching one of Mistico’s first matches from Arena Mexico and the refs counted to three when they shouldn’t have (Arkangel kicked out in plenty of time) and the referees kept waving their hands in the air as if the match was done for like 2 minutes which confused the crowd and lessened the pop for the big dives at the end. Then when Misterioso covered Azteca for the win… they counted to three. Why? I thought the match was over? Idiots. Old idiots.
Well the Average age of Refs in Mexico is what, 60?
Local Women’s match from LLF is airing on ACM right now from 10/6. Only one I recoginze is Poly Star and some chick named Dark Fantasy.
I found that finish odd too.
The main event was a little disappointing. Sombra seemed to be off his game.
Sombra was way off. Not sure what was up there.
But Mascara Dorada was ON! His third fall segment was unreal. Also during the triple somersault spot he did his stand on the rope trick with such ease that it has to be illegal.
@Rob: The standing on the top rope bit is always impressive. Doing it when you have two other guys doing dives at the same time is insane.
The heavily pushed mystery partner deal for tonight’s taping turned out to be nothing, match turned into a singles between chessman vs corleone, due to mesias aswell not being able to compete, due to “injury”
I’ll guess, just guess, that Televisa saw the production values of PdM, and won’t air it. They need a better venue.
My guess is someone was fibbing.
Oh look, Cibernetico’s a tecnico again. THAT was a pointless rudo turn.
it’s funny that their pushing the psycho circus win as a big deal since we probably wont see them on a TV Taping again for about 3 months!!!
So I guess Poder is mad about the loss to Japan, and BWarrior is out.
“La Mafia De Oriente” in CMLL, while Yakuza is in AAA? I don’t know.
I don’t think anyone would fib something like that. They were too specific. I think something will happen.
Perros facebook status this morning:
“Producciones Perros del Mal SEÑORES LOS PERROS DEL MAL SALEN AL AIRE ESTE DOMINGO A LAS 10:30 DE LA NOCHE EN EL CANAL 4. PARA QUE NOS VEAN. ENTRAMOS CON LA FUNCION DEL CENTRO CIVICO DE ECATEPEC”
Annoying that this got announced 11 hours, but way better than I was expecting last night if it winds up being true.
I’m not trying to make any excuses for the Perros here, but it would be nice if Televisa would make some sort of statement on this and/or have it on their schedule if it is actually going to air tonight.
@Alan: So it will clash with CMLL Puebla? That’s bullshit b/c now everyone will just record the Perros and Puebla is screwed.:(
BTW, TVC’s online guide says CMLL Puebla starts at 10:15 (DF) and is only getting 1 hour and 15 minutes so probably only 3 matches – opener, Torneo and main.
@Rob: Sunday Night Wars!
Cablevision shows the same thing for Puebla.
@Rob: Well that’s going to suck. Hopefully there will be replays scheduled.
@Alfredo: Hopefully the Perros don’t air again OR this is a one-time timeslot OR TVC moves Puebla to earlier.
Puebla opens with Romanos! And hype for Reyes del Aire 2009.
Perros are on TV and open with Casandro/XFly.
Strongman/Mistico/Sombra vs Peste airs second. Apparently STrongman high fives so hard it hurts La Sombra.
OK, here’s the deal on the PdM TV show. Main event also aired, but they didn’t fit in any of the post match angle, so that kind of sucks.
The show was only a half an hour long, but did not include any commercials. Maybe they are buying the time for now and trying to land a deal?
They had a “Proxima Semana” clip at the end hyping the TLC match and Groon/Lizmark/Oriental. If they air all of that next week, I wonder if they will really try to squeeze all of the matches onto shows or if most of the opening bouts won’t make it? Would seem odd to run a 8 match card if you aren’t going to air everything, but I don’t know what they air for main events after next week if they keep running shows. I guess they could use the Piratas for one of the shows?
@Alan: Can’t believe they finally skipped the locals for one week! Good week to do it too.
Alan. What 1/2 hour did it air in?
@LLL: Started just after 10:30.
@Alan: Did the minis match make TV?
@Calabcd44: Nope, three match show tonight, mostly due to time constraints, but they also gave the cibernetico quite a bit of time. Show started a little late and is just ending now.
I liked the cibernetico. Not surprisingly, since it is airing on TVC, we get IWRGish graphics of each luchador with wings. I’d be interested in hearing what others think in terms of how it compares to previous Reyes del Aire.
