Cesar points out it wasn’t Estrellita Magica who wrestled in the segunda on Tuesday. It was actually “Dalis La Caribena”, Negro Casas’ wife (who’s also Veneno’s sister) Both she and Negro had mentioned she was training to become a wrestler, but it’s still surprising – more so, since CMLL hasn’t actually noted it yet. She has a background in kickboxing and various martial arts before starting wrestling.
Speaking of wifes (or ex-wifes of whatever) – with Groon XXX being out of AAA, does that mean Esther Moreno is gone as well?
AAA says they’ll addres the Ciberentico/Konnan YouTube and Dorian kidnapping on TV this week. Eh.
Box Y Lucha posted many articles, from as old as six weeks ago. There are some completely outdated (Pirata suggesting going to CMLL or AAA when they’ve ended up with Perros), but there’s some still newsworthy stuff:
Los Perros
– Perro Jr. says his new TV show will innovate, not immate like other Mexican promotions. They’re not going to mimic US wrestling, but they’re hoping to draw in the Mexican fans who are watching those shows. Speaking of TV, a post on el Martiente says Perro told Reforma’s podcast they’ll be airing Saturdays at 9 pm on Canal 4, which is a different channel and time than we’d heard previously.
– Yet another Charly Manson interview. He was good friends with Marisela and Joaquin, but may sue them if they sue him. Electroshock and he have talked about why Charly left, but Chessman hasn’t and he’s disappointed with Chessman putting him down in the press, even though he figures he’s only doing what he’s told.
– Histeria says everyone said AAA would be in trouble after Antonio Pena died, and he feels that’s finally happening. Histeria is to again foreign wrestlers, but they’ve got to focus on Mexican wrestling. He’s heard AAA wrestlers are told to watch US wrestling and imitate that style, and that’s the sort of thing that led to him leaving AAA..
Villano III columns on
– being tear gassed by a female fan of Matematico
– stories about Scorpio Jr.
– his memories of Roberto Paz
– the time he, I and II were mistaken for a criminal gang
Misc
– India Sioux, Maximo, and child, who was born on August 18th. India does hope to return to the ring, but had a c-section and will need at least a year to recover, and thinks she may might as well restart her career with a new name after being out so long. She’s already figuring on her new son getting into the business, because everyone else in the family is. Maximo says he told India there was no way he was going into the delivery room, but he gathered up the courage at the last moment – and nearly fainted.
– Scorpio Jr. about his career. He’s got two kids in wrestling – olympic wrestling – but is hoping they don’t go into lucha libre. But then, his dad wanted the same thing.
– Mima Shimoda wants you to know she’s only teammates with Okumura and No Limit, and is looking for a Mexican boyfriend. She’s wrestled less this year because they want to give the newer woman chances.
– Female indy wrestler Oasis is hoping to make it to CMLL, since she debuted on an indy show against Crazy Star and Star Fire. Her trainer is Mini Chessman.

In a recap of Arena Puebla’s show, Sangre Azteca says Black Warrior is out of Poder Mexica. That would put the Mexican National Trios titles in limbo.
Rafael El Maya is asked about referes in Mexico, says most of them outside of CMLL DF need work and don’t take the job professional enough. He and Ultimo Guerrero are talking about opening a referee training school at UG’s gym.
DTU is setting up a feud with CZW. There’s a perfect match.
The Gladiatores has videos from the 101 Llaves and Lances opening, and an interview with Toxico.
Segunda Caida has Negro Navarro as #5 of 2008. I think they’re going to make it.

I hope Phil and tomk hold out and announce the #1 on their list from 2008 on January 1st, 2010!
WOW! Some of the news is shocking like…
– I’m soooo shocked that Cibernetico and Konnan’s argument was a work. I sure got fooled.;)
– AAA telling their wrestlers to watch US wrestling…WOWZER! That’s a new one. You couldn’t tell from seeing Wagner-Mesias work a WWE-style main event match at Triplemania, the Americanized promos, OR all the foreigners in AAA. Thank you Histeria for stating the obvious!
– UH-OH! Perro Jr. used the word “innovative”…hmmm…Lemme look over the first tv taping…
– Send-in donations, so I can turn Mima Shimoda into my mail-order bride, to thecubsfan.
I’ll date Mima, I’m half Mexican.
On second thought, i’ll take Oasis
So it means that televisa has 4 brands of lucha CMLL,AAA,WWE and now Perros del mal? i wonder if AAA still at the top on the raitings as they have say before, is also interesting that Hysteria says that AAA is tellin to their wrestlers to watch more american wrestling it means that Konnan still in control?
“AAA wrestlers are told to watch US wrestling and imitate that style” Well that’s one reason why AAA sucks now. ” Sangre Azteca says Black Warrior is out of Poder Mexica.” Is Sangre predicting the future, and Black Warrior is losing his hair?
@K.D.B_31: I’m All Mexican! Don’t try to steal my mail-order bride…DAMMIT!;) You’ll anger cubs. He’s busy right now counting all the donations.
Also Oasis, with or without mask? Maybe this will be the next poll question.:)
@Infermas: That’s not an exclusive Konnan thing. I’m pretty sure the Roldans, mainly Dorian, are big on American wrestling as well.
Good to see AAA back in ACM and I hope that Esther/Estrellita tag airs but I know it won’t.
Ch 4? Not bad. Only problem is it’s local, but the show can be syndicate to other Telerisa locals around the country, like WWE does. I don’t think there’s a stream link so we’ll have to wait to see the show.
WON is so out of touch with wrestling. Now they’re calling Hogan’s promo on Flair a “whacky” promo. Why? It’s no different than any Hogan promo from the last 30 years.
Obviously, most of the guys in AAA and CMLL already watch WWE, and have been since the Monday Night Wars. That’s clear based on how the guys make their ring entrances and posture before the crowd, imitating DX, Cena, Rock, etc……If anything, watching American wrestling will make the Mexicans look like even bigger marks when they imitate.
I think channel 4 is channel 104 on Cablevision, but there is no lucha on the schedule for 9pm on Saturday the 17th yet. But, I don’t put much faith in the schedules that far out.
Pretty sure I’m going to the show on Sunday now. Haven’t figured out how tickets work yet (general admission or reserved), but I’ll probably just show up early and figure it out then.
Alan: Based on the insight in your comments, I’m assuming you’re in Mexico City. I’m going in about two weeks for some vacation action and hope to watch live lucha until I’m sick of it. Is there any way I can contact you with some questions and get some suggestions from you?
@Sexington: I’d be glad to answer any questions and offer any advice I can. I hate posting contact info to public comments sections, but I’ve got an old email address I never use for anything real, so shoot me an email at [removed by thecubsfan]
@Alfredo, I think it’s a 50/50 thing. Konnan came in with the idea of Americanising Lucha Libre and Dorian is just as stupid for going along with it.
If Konnan hates lucha libre so much then why the fuck doesn’t he start his own promotion in the US, instead of going to Mexico and ruining a good thing?
